Holy shit, it was 50 years ago! Same with baba o'riley.... I had to go look that up. I remember seeing The Who back when Happy Jack was a big hit. In a high school gymnasium!! One of the greatest bands ever and Pete is certainly one of the greatest rock songwriters. I gotta take a break and go listen to The Who.
Excellent transcription James. Many thanks. You’ve captured all PT’s nuances brilliantly. For my own benefit, Middle 8 section starts here 4:21 Chordal changes at 5:23 Picking style from 8:17
Thank you for your lessons! I’ve just discovered your channel and I am glad I did! I see many songs I’m sure I’ll get more nuanced playing from listening to. You’re helping me take it up a notch or two! Thanks again. 😊
I learned that when I was first starting out, so I had some small bits and pieces wrong. You helped me fix it perfectly after all these years. Thanks so much.
Townshend's rhythm is so cool. Acoustic and electric. My favourite guitarist songwriter. Mind you Ronnie Lane (April Fool) and Nick Lowe (Brinsley Schwarz, Despite it All) and Blue on Blue, wouldn't be silver or bronze come to think of it. Keep the belter coming. Loch Lomond on fire with inspiration. 👍
James is uncanny how he gets every finger position and chord right, every time. Then plays it like a virtuoso. I often watch his video, then get a printout elsewhere with lyrics. Then if they even have the right key, fix all of the chords to play it like James. I'm a musical dunce but you make it doable without all of the theory gobbledegook. Thank you again sir.
Thanks for breaking this down. One that I've heard a lot of people do the "easy guitar" version of and it always hits my ear wrong w/o the subtleties. Next time I'm in that situation I'll just slip them the link to this!
What a gorgeous looking and sounding J-200 JJ. How do you keep it so pristine looking? Fantastic lesson by the way. Always wanted to play this song. Cheers!👍👍
@@jamesjames9275 Keeping your guitars safe in a case is good advice! Also- be sure to humidify your acoustic guitars in the winter if you live in a cold climate!
Hard to believe it is 50 years old!..Still sounds fresh. Coming from a huge Who fan.

One of the greatest bridges ever written……
One of Pete's best songs. Just 3:40 minutes of perfection. The stand-out of Who's Next; an album with no clunkers, in my humble opinion.
Always loved this song. Played a lot on the radio. Back in the day

Strumming. I learn a lot from you besides this that i am going to learn thanks
Who's Next is my favorite album of all time! Won't Get Fooled Again is the greatest rock anthem of all time!!!
You aint wrong!
Quadrophenia is the best, I really believe....such an OPERA!
You know what I love about this group? No know-it-all is correcting the title! Love that 👊
Great tune by The Who. Always loved it. Thanks for the lesson.

Another terrific breakdown replete with windmill strumming. Will break out Sea and Sand and go from there.

Once again , James nails it.
Wishing I could do this ... sounds beautiful.

I try to take care of all of them, including keeping them in the case when I'm not using them. I don't beat them up.

Thank you for your work ! Love your vids, i am a bass player and i play guitar as well, your vids help me a lot ! 😍😍❤️❤️
Nicely done ...
Helped me! Go Wings!!! I'll have a garbage plate tonight in honor of my success here 😉😉😉
Un 'Capo' James!!! ( Capo is the equivalent of Master in argentine 'lunfardo' ...slang
very technical for me as a beginner to 6-string but I love your skills as a 40+ year Who fan
Very nice, you should do this for a living. Lol many thanks.
A with the B string off, or Asus2
I am thinking of buying an Epiphone J200. Do you know anything about them
Come back
☝ what Izzy said!!
Did you restring with 12s James..?
What year is that 200 I need to get one...
Nice

my life is complete now :)
What strings/gauge do you use on your j200?
your choice of songs to teach is so dead on. what ever method you use to pick the songs to teach, don't change it.
intro Esus4
Good lesson, but I don’t think Pete Townsend ever played guitar with flowers on it.
It’s a Gibson J200. Pete is probably the best known player of that model in history.
I happen to know that Pete Townshend loves flowers.
All is well except for that b major barring thing you do, jeez laweez. Thank you
Look at videos of Pete. He plays barre chords the same way.
@@jamesjames9275 I understand and it's very elegant, its just not in my playing repertoire sadly ☹️
