    Well, Fudd... I have complete confidence that you will cycle back around to a 1911 and/or a revolver, before long. You are a master of convincing yourself of WHY you are changing carry guns, and backing it up with relatively true points. (I'm equally adept at convincing myself of WHY when I change carry guns.... not a critique, as I love your channel and point of view and variety of guns you own)

      i carry a czp09 have for year then went to a g45 and i loved it. shoot ability is not even close to a cz but the glock 45 offers more then you know. its lighter mags are parts are cheaper. the angle takes some getting used to but once you do i feel it helps with recoil of a lighter gun.. after having a hk vp9 some lighter guns feel they like to back flip from your hand.

    Let me add, I actually LIKE the standard plastic Glock sights. They work for me. I have never liked the Red Dots, just does not work for me. The alternate I would argue for, are the Green lasers that go around the grip or cooler, in the recoil plug.
    Also, you need to stock up: on primers, powder, brass, and bullets, dies and a loader. The beauty of reloading with revolvers is you can shoot even during a panic. You can also tailor your load -- that Manurhin does not need full power .357 to cycle.
    Also, rent a Ruger GP 100 with the rubber grips (Hogue). Try it -- I see very reduced felt recoil with that compared to wood grips on the same revolver. Seriously rent one for a while and shoot with it extensively.
    And yes, Glocks ARE cool. It has its own cool, not a revolver cool (and the Storm is awesome too). I love my Glocks, but the 10mm are the best in my opinion.

    Red dots are now in their toddler stage of development on pistols in my opinion. I think they are coming along and are for vetted to use now, but they got a long way to go. I have no doubt that 10 years from now we will be having discussions about how bad the current dots suck and how nobody should ever buy them. The RMR is for sure a sub optimal dot, especially the type 1, due to needing to remove it to get to the battery.

  • @alecswann7234

    Nothing wrong with a Glock. Plenty wrong (for civilians) with 9mm, in my opinion. In order to be effective, 9mm needs to be +P or +P+, with a chemically bonded jacket hollow point. Only through a BIG increase in velocity (and recoil, blast, pressure) can you make a 124 grain hollowpoint from a 9mm (with much narrower hollow point mouth) effective.
    The issue is training: civilians practice with 115 grain ball because its cheap. POA/POI, recoil, muzzle rise, blast, etc are so radically different from duty/carry ammo above that civilians when switching to duty ammo have radically decreased accuracy. Its like that old .38 special for training, .357 magnum for duty/carry. All those "teams" and other high speed, low drag guys get "free" (they pay for it in other ways) training ammo that matches: recoil, blast, pressure etc of duty ammo.
    Train with +P+ and you will wear out your Glockjust like with a .40 cal Glock Gen 4 and down. [Gen 5 has a beefier slide.] Of course 9mm disappears under any panic buying, you can't press it into service for bear defense, or hogs, or hunt deer with it if need be.
    Let me suggest: Glock 29, SF or Gen 5, with the Pearce pinky extension (keep the 10 round magazine). Compared to the Glock 30 it sticks out less, you still have a pinky grip, and you have 10mm. With careful load selection you get basically the improved .45 ACP Cooper was looking for: .40 cal bullet weighing 200 grains moving at 1000 ft per second. Compared to even 185 grain .45 ACP you get improved hollow point performance, and a much flatter shooting cartridge that is STILL controllable and an "all arounder." Good for up close with controlled pairs, good for 40 yards out which is increasingly common for people these days.
    A Glock is more rust-resistant in Summer Carry. Its lighter. The 29 can even carry in a fanny pack if you want to rock the James Reeves look, and he carries it, in Louisiana, in the Summer. Check out the 29, load it with Winchester Silvertips, or Federal, as close to that 200 grain / 1000 ft per second mark. Totally controllable and straightforward to shoot with some effort. Avoid: SIG's barn-burners. You don't need Norma 10mm in the 29, just "improved .45 ACP."

    9mm has spoiled me, but it also has increased my range work and that is always a good thing, IMO. I crossed that point where it clicked in my mind, too, that if I'm training so much w/1 platform, I should be carrying it as well. 👍👍

If it has an internal extractor, give Bob Reeves at Nighthawk a call and have that IOS system installed a Fantastic method of mounting a dot. Feel like Irons? Ok 15 seconds later you got irons. Want to shoot the Dot? Ok 15 seconds later you got the dot.....It maintains zero when swapping. Use the Force Luke. The Dark Side is powerful. I drank the Glock koolaid in the 80's and just within the last year have finally, (Got there as soon as I could) started exploring the 1911.. There can be only one. Live long and prosper. Great Vid. At 60yrs of age, I’ve been shooting and carrying revolvers and 1911’s a long time. When the Glocks and M&P’s came out I didn’t want to like them. After owning dozens of both brands, carrying and liking both, I fine myself going back to the simplicity of the Glock. Complete disassembly for cleaning and maintenance is much easier with a Glock than the Smith. I’m still carrying revolvers (snubbies) but it’s hard to beat the DARKSIDE!

    Is the Spohr that hard to get here? It sounds like this place MMBI Imports will do it. I haven't researched yet. Waiting on the inevitable 8round 357 on the larger frame they're doing.

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  3 месяца назад +1

      I've talked to 4 owners and they told me they all went through MMBI and one guy just told me it took a while for it to be released by US Customs? Another guy told me he misunderstood and though the GB listing meant MMBI had them in stock ready to ship to his FFL but no - the listings are just to secure an order. He said it took about 10 weeks to get. The other guy told me he loves the gun but would not buy another one and recommended I stick to Korth? So I'm just not 100% onboard with Spohr yet. I do want a 284 or maybe 283 Carry model. Better yet the Club Edition 3.0 looks intriguing. I think Spohr needs to find a US firearms Mfg to be their sole importer. It would definitely push them in the states if a company could bring in a ton of them at once and get them into the market...we shall see.

    Glocks are outdated. There are better options on the market updated out of the box without spending more on aftermarket accessories. Glock still has not admitted to or fixed some of their models that have dangerous unsupported chambers. Glocks do not have manual safeties for those that want them. Glocks have a skewed grip angle so that they are not pointable without changing your grip. Glocks have polygonal barrels rather than rifled barrels not allowing the use of lead bullets. No thanks. I never liked Glocks from the beginning for just these reasons.
