Yes. I agree. Piano skills are top notch. An amazing voice. The time and effort put forward in the tutorials are much appreciated. I especially enjoy all the notes and chords being put on the screen so a total beginner like me can understand it. The best tutorials I have seen on RUclips yet. Please keep up the good work. I look forward to any new tutorials. Thanks for your help. I have made more progress in the past week than in the past 3 months.
I've been half heartedly trying to do more than just play around on the piano for the last year. I finally can play a whole song after watching this. Not sure what you did but you've given me a lot more desire to learn to play the piano. I've watched several of your tutorials and will be watching for more. Thank You!!!
Wow, wow, WOW! This is soooooo good. Piano and singing are spot on - it almost made me cry! I guess I had kind of forgotten about this song, but this just brought me right back to 6th-7th grade when I fell in love with the song. I'm glad I found your tutorials; I'm looking forward to learning so much from you, and I'll be donating soon.
Awesome, so glad I could help you reconnect with this song. It's amazing how powerful the connections that we form with music are when we are kids and teenagers, and how hearing a song can transport you right back to that time in your life. Cheers!
Brilliant tutorial as always..I am old enough to remember it first time round, so it's so nice to have the opportunity to learn to play it myself, thanks to your wonderful, clear teaching..thank you
I'm Not In Love with this song and your teaching is easy to understand. Thank you so much! I see in your channel you post quite a balance between current and oldies. But since I'm more into oldies, I'd like to suggest Phil Collin's Against All Odds, John Lennon/Beatles, anything from 70s,80s, and even 60s! Wow don't I request too much here! 😄🙏🙏 Thanks again!
Thanks for showing me how to play this classic! Just like on Goodbye to Love, you turn in a powerful performance. You are an excellent player and teacher!
Just started on this one yesterday. I love all your tutorials. I really enjoyed "Wild World" and "Space Oddity". I can do "Space Oddity" fairly well now. I wish all of the other yiutube puano tutorials would go into as much detail as you do. Your tutorials are amazing. I find it very helpful when you put the chords on the screen and explain the timing and sing along so we can understand the context. Very useful
I'm so glad I stumbled onto this. Such a cool song. Even as a beginner I can 'sort of' play it. I love that melody part too. I need to work my timing with the bass notes but it sounds so cool. Great job and thanks for posting.
This is awesome to hear. As for practicing the bass note timing...just take it suuuper slow and once it clicks you can gradually speed it up to where you want it :)
Thanks a lot! I´ve been enjoying this song eversince I learnt how to play with your video. Now I can play the piano and sing at the same time. Could you please teach us how to play the song Break by Aphrodite's child. I love it. It doesn't sound too difficult but I would really appreciate if you taught us the chords. Thank you very much in advance.
Pretty cool echo city. love the way it sounds and its cool your doing some old school stuff. Keep it going i liked and subscribed. Just for thought i think Elle Hollis does the best version
It's a bit confusing with this one...there are some weird parallel major/minor changes that make it not fit neatly in one key. It would be most accurate to say it's in the key of E major--notice how there is a sense of coming "home" when we go to the E chord on "it's because." The vocal melody uses the collection of notes in the E major scale as well. Some might be tempted to say it's in A because the verses start on an A chord, but you have to look at the whole harmonic context. To make things more confusing, the bridge is in the key of G lol. I've said it before: sticking to a key is a great way to guarantee your song will sound "good" and "normal" but a lot of songwriting magic happens when you break the rules in interesting and somehow still pleasing ways. This song is a good example of that!
There's a great video of the 'making of' the 10cc version, including where the 'big boys don't cry' vocal came from, and some very innovative use of tape loops. ruclips.net/video/3oxe4mlsQos/видео.html
You're correct, in terms of what the guitar and keyboards play. But there is also a high G# in the ambient swelling and that is important to my ear. Play it however sounds best to you :)

Thanks for your thoughts! I'm definitely trying to strike a balance, and I'm glad people are appreciating the older stuff...

Hahahahaha...I want people to learn but I'll take this as a compliment
Can you give a quick tutorial on New Years Day . This song is all piano based. Ur the best.

Beautiful. I would like a midi of that
AWESOME.
Perfect tutorial!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Interesting fact. In the original version, the woman talking was a secretary. The band liked her voice and wrote the speaking part just for her.
Very interesting!
Will To Power did it back in the early nineties with lots of synth and got some good air play.

Great song. Thanks. Can you also do a easy version of ! How Can You Mend A Broken HeartAl Green. Purhaps on you online site. Best regards
At the 6:36 mark the "just because" part, you play the E chord then A/E G/E , A/E
You should listen to the Fun Loving Criminals version, its on their Mimosa Album ....
Wow Nate/ Thank you soooo much !! Once again. One of my all time favorite songs. By far my favorite RUclips teacher.
Wow, thanks!

Big boys don't cry.... But I do it
same!
❤️❤️❤️🤩
I've heard people say that this song is in A, E and F so I'm confused as to what is really the original key.
It's a bit confusing with this one...there are some weird parallel major/minor changes that make it not fit neatly in one key. It would be most accurate to say it's in the key of E major--notice how there is a sense of coming "home" when we go to the E chord on "it's because." To make things more confusing, the bridge is in the key of G lol.

Love it!
You sound like John Lennon singing
Thank you so much!
The intro, written on guitar, is simply A major over B bass, then B major, keeping the B bass.
You’re complicating things.
You're correct, in terms of what the guitar and keyboards play. But there is also a high G# in the ambient swelling and that is important to my ear. Play it however sounds best to you :)
