The best 4X4 since 1979!
the best 4x4 is actually jeep
Alan May only an American would say that🤨 for four wheel drive knowledge, the Aussies are the ones to really listen to, because they actually depend on them.
Just in time for the 464 to bow in with ifs and very little of the simplicity and toughness of the this model.
Does this thing last as long as the 79 cruiser?
Probably, it's built by Steyer Puch in Austria and they are a military spec machine. Our Unimog has been faultless since 2007.
Australian army got it for a reason !!!
But a defender was good enough for them and half the price
Horses used to be good for them for a long time 😉
As a member of the ADF ill tell you a secret, one small problem, they don't work.
George White, come on mate, you can’t hang that out there without specifics. What isn’t working on the G300 for the ADF?
Ah sorry mate lol, the shock absorber baffles blow prematurely after a decent off-road workout and no longer do anything, orientation issue with the fusebox taking in water as the wheels spit into it. Integration of systems mean they have power isolation and delivery issues, the electrical gremlins come out if they have been in the bull dust up north as the sensors pack up it puts the truck in a "limp mode" type deal. Engines are sensitive to fuel quality and the ECU's don't seem to like power changes from the alternator charging the auxiliary batteries (also won't start if you've left it for a while). Half the motor pool mechanics can't get them running electrical wise once they throw error codes, and you need a couple computers and an engineering degree to diagnose the problems. All kidding aside its a story of proving ground army testing vs real ADF life means they need genuine parts and special Merc branded tools to keep going vs a socket set and duct tape for the old rovers.
Superb
You would think it would be priced a little cheaper. Sure its a G Wagon but its stripped of the "Super Car Swagger" that comes with my G63. It doesn't have the heated windshield, SAT Radio, Power windows, Power side mirrors, Lane Assist, GPS, back up cam, carpet, or massaging power seats just to name a few things.
"It doesn't have the heated windshield, SAT Radio, Power windows, Power side mirrors, Lane Assist, GPS, back up cam, carpet, or massaging power seats" - That's the best thing about it. No money wasted on crap, you get the real deal instead .
Less electronics mean a smaller chance of things going wrong
@@eddgrs9193 less electronics also means a cheaper car, only armies and organisations can buy them not individuals
@@alanmay7929 wtf are you talking about ? The professional is for civilians. Electronics are cheap nowadays , while sturdy, mechanical parts are more expensive.
@@eddgrs9193 well the electronics of mercedes are not the cheapest out there unless you are living under a rock.
A great 4x4 vehicle - priced to fail.
It's not just great, it is the best 4x4 available. It's a proper military grade vehicle, and you'll look it in in the bush and in front of the Sydney Opera House .
for that price you can get 2 cars that go ferther and are reliable that merc will cost more to fix its a 4wd it will break if you use it for what it's made for
Yeah, the defenders are famous for their reliability 😂😂😂
Its expensive but the rest what you said is bullshit
Tell me one car that can go further and is tougher and more reliable than this.
@@eddgrs9193 Landcruiser
@@BrewPub Landcruisers are a joke when it comes to reliability.
120K ? Really ? Can't imagine a lot of them being scratched inn the high country.
David Anderson 120k pretty cheap for a German tank 😜

A fantastic vehicle with a massive potential market - fucked by a greedy price tag.
THIS CAR DIDN'T FAIL THE COMPANY - THE MANAGEMENT DID... WHAT A FAILURE!!!
Kardashian job
4Fatty4 Even the Kardashian’s know. By the way, do you know the difference between a W 463 to W 461???
How do you know the Kardashian's know what? Have you been keeping up with them? :p Also, Google can give you quick rundown on the 463 and 461 if you're interested.
Fatty, the G presented in this video (300 diesel close to military version) has technically almost nothing in common with the G 63 (V8 SUV) the Kardashians used to drive.Despite the look of it totally different approach!! I actually own a G 500 and a G 280 Edition Pur. Any further questions? ; )
Ummm no. You're the one asking the questions.
Bernd, the G280 Pur looks awesome. You must be in Europe? How do you rate it?
Americans obsessed with flex. Aussies aren’t. I agree. Locker over suspension flex. Everyone talks about it because they’re ignorant and regurgitate what they hear on the internet.
Up against soft roaders where’s the cruisers ??... no contest no wonder it won... looks like a add for Benz.
Cash 💰 for comment
what cruisers are new on the market? only a 79 or 78 could match a g class, and to be honest, the g would win.
4x4 of the Year only includes models that are new to that year or have been significantly upgraded, which is why there was no 70 series Cruiser this time.
But a 70 series with factory lockers probably would have come out on top because they factor in the price of the vehicle.
@@JeremyPetho totally agree with you, also toyota sells those land cruisers like bread, just go to the middle east for example or africa
Have you ever heard of a Jeep JK Rubicon??
Jimmy Jones jeeps are garbage
Land Cruiser
I would rather have a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with difflocks ruclips.net/video/j6AbY01S70g/видео.html
