Awesome, as always. I was trying to find out this. I think Johnny Harris is using this map in many of his recent videos. I don't understand how he achieves this huge, detailed texture over his maps. There should be a trick.
To make your maps look nicer add a tritone, pick some colors. add Levels and dial in the blacks and whites to make it pop. Chromatic aberration on the edges, camera lens blur on edges, vignette and also do a optics compensation and reverse it and bring up the edges so it has minor lens distortion. Also add grain set to the Kodak vision preset. You can also use a limiter color preset to get cold or hot color grading or traditional film grades will make your maps colors look cinematic too. Johnny Harris is using a Ariel map for those details of the mountains and such. Also turn on motion blur for your map comp in geo layers settings I have a tutorial on my channel going over some of this
Expecting videos on the actual work flow of working on geolayer on big projects. How to manage files, comps, maintaining same style through out the videos, etc. Hope you read it make videos on this too. Thank you.
I got a lot of maps related info through your videos that helped me to make my 3d map animations but i wanna know how to make real life lore kinda thumbnail map.
I used the method you told in an old video, I connected my Geolayers to the repository and most of the years work but when I try something like 600 it freezes and crashes
Hey Boone do you know how do i use geolayer without maptiler i just use mapbox free tile but when me map tiler trial ends it says that imagery can’t load due to free trial ending and them i can’t use geo layers so how do i disconnect it?
Hey brother, great video. I am just so puzzled about how you achieved the Watermask. Am I missing a step or something? This seems super powerful but I don't get at all what you did to make it work. I created a new mapcomp with natural earth, called it WaterMask and... yeah it's just a natural earth mapcomp.
Okay well, I'm an idiot. There's literally a button on geolayers that says 'create water mask' and you can just click that at any time to get a water mask. It's literally one button no matter what you're doing in your animation.
@@BooneLovesVideo Shouldn't I have? I only just bought GeoLayers so I've got 14 days. Playing with MapTiler Lite for now and then will try the free stuff when it runs out and see if it's worth $25 per month. Probably not.
@@BooneLovesVideo Geolayers is cool and if you're a professional totally worth the money BUT a feature like that... just leave it in? To me that's not really like crazy map data you should need a subscription for, you know?
I’m curious how you managed to get so much freelance work and what platform you use to reach out to new clients? Recently tried fiver but it’s so hard to get noticed on there
I think you have restricted the posting of links in the comment section. Anyway, I'll try to explain what I want to learn. I want to know how to create map animations on a globe in the same way we do on a flat map using Geolayers3. I am not referring to using the Earth Map Connection Kit, but rather Geolayers3. How can I achieve the same with Geolayers3 on a globe
Dear Sir, I am your subscriber, and have learned a lot from your videos. I have a request, can you pls make tutorial on some technique? I can provide you with reference video

Whats the best way to animate a satalite map for a commercial project without it costing thousands. It feels like as a freelancer...i cant compete with bigger company ability to afford the hefty fees
It's actually really difficult in GEOlayers, as they don't import geotiffs or rasters very easily. Because you can get satellite imagery from LandSat or Copernicus, you just have to learn how to do it (which is incredibly difficult, by the way).
If you freelance and make enough, you should spend some of the money on the plugin, and then you can start using it in your freelance work! Justify the purchase. :) No pressure of course. That's just always what I do. AND wait for one of the annual sales during summer or the upcoming Black Friday one. :)
@XKLM-2023 Yeah it's expensive. But you can use this particular basemap if you purchase the plug-in. You only have access to maptiler for the trial period (if you actually bought the plug-in).

Bro in the historical maps repository I can't access some years like 600 AD, when I try my Geolayers crashes plz help
You can download it directly from the repository. And then manual import into GEOlayers Is that the way you’re doing it?
I used the method you told in an old video, I connected my Geolayers to the repository and most of the years work but when I try something like 600 it freezes and crashes
I have geo layers but i don't know how to install it in after effects on mac can you tell me installation process in comment?

I actually haven't been freelancing for about a year now. Before then, it was all just word of mouth.

So you want to have lines coming up off of the Globe and reconnecting?
