I watched the game, it looked like Auburn had ten guys to Purdue's five. Purdue had trouble getting shots, both inside and outside. I have never seen a defense this good, fun to watch.
Yeah, Duke was able to take advantage of matchup problems on switches, but it took very quick decision making from ball handlers and they still needed a guy to get hot from the outside to win a close one on their home court. A team with bigger guards could give us problems on defense.
@@ebnest123Duke good not very good we all know for a fact even Duke fans know if that game was at Auburn or a neutral site game Auburn beats Duke by 20 Evans won’t shoot like that in the first half ever again maybe against a small team but not a team like Auburn
I need a Tennessee fan to answer this HONESTLY.. yes Tennessee is #1, yes they are good, yes they are undefeated. And im not taking anything away from Tennessee. From an eye test, is Tennessee really the number 1 team over Auburn..
@jdubhilltop33 you're good, bro.. that's a good take.. I agree with you.. On the neutral floor, I think AU can beat anyone. But if you are a good team, you have to win HOME GAMES. Like Purdue beating Alabama, I dnt think nobody beating Purdue in Macky.. Same with Duke.. no one is beating Duke in Cameron and they are good!
@@rafaelmickle3017Auburn could absolutely beat Duke in Durham. Auburn just came off a tournament where they played 3 straight days. It was a set up game. Auburn beats Duke 7 out of 10 times in Durham this year.
@@taylorrenee4880 Could they, yes. Would they win 7/10, absolutely not. Duke has the #1 defence in the country and Maliq Brown is an all conference defender and the perfect match up for Broome which is the engine the AU offence runs through. Not to mention Duke being the tallest team in the country. Don’t twist my words, Auburn is great but 7/10 at Cameron is a ridiculous statement.
@taylorrenee4880 Yes, Auburn could've won that game.. but they didn't.. and that'll be the only game they play against each other unless they meet in March madness..so that's all we can go by.. Duke beat them, so face the fact, plus Duke is a good team.but I'll take Auburn on neutral floor any time, tho.
I'd say we are only missing a Samir Doughty type player. A guard who can take it to the bucket in the half court offense and make a tough two or draw a foul, though Tahaad is showing a nice mid-range game and CBM can make some tough shots but struggles a little bit with ball handling on drives.
Yeah, I mentioned him but he is a little small to be finishing at the rim like Doughty did, right? I have seen Pettiford with some nice finishes in transition but not consistently in half court.
Purdue's coach Painter needs to use the portal. The Purdue team that made the FF last year will be that last one that built their team by recruiting and growing with the program (minus 1 transfer). They have no business not using it since they are a basketball crazy state and power-5
Huge Purdue Fan….we looked like a Jr. High team playing against Auburn. This game was more about how bad my boilers are than how great Auburn is. Auburn is a great team. Purdue is really bad. Quit saying Purdue is good, please!
@ Ty for the vote of confidence, but Purdue has three good starters. Two of our starters really need to be coming in off the bench. And those who are coming in off the bench….they just aren’t ready. We lack a true center. We have zero underneath protection/presence on defense. TKR cannot defend down low. Cam & Colvin can’t get open, and they really show a loss in confidence in their shooting. Burgess, Harris & Cox need way more time to develop. I’m unimpressed by all three thus far. Furst & Berg are just, well, they are just there. Braden, Loyer & TKR have to play nearly flawless games for us to win, and that’s just squeaking out wins. We have good players. We aren’t a good team, at least not yet. We play half our conference games away from Mackey…every team in the Big10 knows how to beat us. Maybe by the midway point of conference play this team will be more cohesive and competitive. It can happen.
One thing I've noticed about Pearl teams (Tennessee and Auburn), they seem to lose their identity at some point during the year. He has had multiple teams that have been dominant like this early in the year. They seem to have something that comes in and changes them for the worse during conference play. Sustaining their style of play on both ends is maybe the most important thing for Auburn this year. And absolutely avoiding injuries, especially to Broome. He has had some awful and devastatingly timed injuries throughout his career so I'm praying he plays a full season. I don't think he has ever played a full season but I could be wrong.
Barely beat Auburn at Cameron Indoor having an exception shooting night while getting to the line more than twice as much as Auburn. Auburn beats Duke by 15 on a neutral floor and by 20 + at home.

Best Auburn basketball team I’ve ever seen. In fact, one of the better ones I’ve seen in a decade in all of college basketball
National championship I believe it AJ Dybantsa kicking himself bro probably like I should have sign with Auburn
This is nice seeing the last couple years work come to fruition. I pray we can see a NC in Auburn.
Best team in the country no doubt. That’s not knocking anyone it’s just saying how good they are.
They are, only loss was at a very good Duke team
At Duke. Now Watch them still be number 2# because the voters are Bias

I'm not an Iowa St fan, but they only lose to this team by 2 points. I would say they are equally good.
The comparison to last year’s UCONN team is on point. They have the capacity to be as overwhelming. Purdue got swarmed!
Best Auburn team in my lifetime. Wde!!
I was watching the game and thought “is Purdue this bad, or is Auburn THIS good”. Auburn is this good this year
Didn't even mention Chaney Johnson who had 20+ when Broome was out last game. Hit 2 3s yesterday. If he gets that 3 point shot rolling watch out
Chaney is an awesome player. He has shown what he can do. He's on his way to the next level as well.
AUBURN IS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP 🏆 GOOD ..

Best way to stop AU is to double Broome. If they hit 3s, so be it, but 4 can't be the one that's beating you

Going to be a long season for Purdue, this is 2nd 18 point road loss already.
Duke-Auburn final in San Antonio.
Auburn's advantage is their positional size. The only other team with that size beat them, everybody else is getting foot to ass treatment 😂
The refs helped secure the Duke win!
@leejones1016 or it could have been Auburn had twice as many turnovers and two of Auburn's starters had 0 points but sure blame the refs😂🤣
