Headless Ape Duo bossfight, the Miyazaki way* - Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

- Sometimes you see a bossfight that makes you wonder: What were they thinking?
I figured it out
note: this is not what Miyazaki intended. This is a joke. Don't try this. I was going through some sh*t last night when I decided to practice this.
#sekiro #sekiroshadowsdietwice #fromsoftware
See, if this was the miyazaki way, you'd die at the end, because Miyazaki designs all his games with nothing but our pain in mind.
But he also had it to where u can conquer so easier said “to defeat a monster u must become sumthing worse in other words a demon”
Happiness can only exist with suffering
@@Handlelesswithme but did we really need lost izalith?
@@anperson8373 you didn’t need lost Izalith but wasn’t the accomplishment of finally besting it worth something more then all the walking simulators you could’ve mustered instead
@@Handlelesswithme... No.
Mad respect for doing it the hard way mate but I doubt Miyazaki had an intended way of dealing with any of his bosses. Genichiro says himself "a Shinobi should know the difference between victory and honour."

@@CarmeloSantosF gotcha!
@@CarmeloSantosFI see but the perfect parries you did were awesome !!!!
Those gorrila swings are tough
I just made a Sekiro shorts and long format RUclips Channel!
I hope to get as many subscribers as you and keep growing
Now I realize how hard editing can be, sometimes
@@TenaciousSea good luck with your channel :)
@@CarmeloSantosF thank you 🙏 ,sir!
Keep up your good work and content aka your good deeds! You’re doing the Divine Dragons work 🙏
Dragon bless you, sir 👼
On phase 1, you can actually enter from the Hidden Forest Idol side, which brings you to right on top of him. Then you can drop down and slash away big chunk of his health + posture before he begins to stand up.
I either do that, or use bestowal ninjutsu in the hidden monkey to drop with some blood damage
sadly, you cannot do this on remembrance menu, which I use most of the time to practice new strats
I mean… I just went full smork with yashariku’s sugar, divine confetti, and mortal draw, seemed to work out just fine without extra fluff
Fought this ape so many times that I cleared this battle first try
Same
Still died to the 2nd ape but beat it on my fifth try when I realized the 2nd ape barely had any HP and 2 buffed up mortal blades could kill him lol
Can we all just agree that the Shinobi execution where he cuts the centipede in half is one of the coolest animations in FromSoft history?
Sekiro pretty much got all of the From's best animations
Meanwhile the thumbnail:
Just as Miyazaki in ended
i hate using the consumables knowing im gonna die 20 times anyway 😂. i commit at least 50 attempts without any before trying them
you made the second phase look so easy 😭
Okay, this looks really sick. Maybe this fight isn't so terrible...
Nah its terrible he is just perfect
Genichirou and this ape are my favorite bosses in the game
I unironically beated this guy like this on my first time
Very nicely done!
If you used Lazulite sacred flame instead of divine confetti + spiral cloud passage, would it still be able to stop the terror attacks? I saw in Ongbal's video that the flame was able to stop shichimen warrior's terror attacks where he spams all those purple balls at you. Unlike spiral cloud passage it is a stream of attack so if timed properly it should be able to stop all the terror waves of the scream.
you can use it but spiral cloud passage deals more damage and melts the headless, which in this case is what I prefer
@@CarmeloSantosF would be glad if you could post it in a video. I've tried timing it but it takes way too long to get the continuous stream of flames out and I die before that happens from terror.
@@vincentturnt6635 uploaded a short one using the purple flame so you can go check it :)
I'm curious if lillac Phoenix umbrella would eliminate the terror build? Would be interesting to try.
@@tprime2702Pretty sure it does, lilac umbrella is supposed to be the tool to defend against all apparition type attacks. Gonna test it against Inner Isshin's mortal draw today
Litterally what I did what r u supposed to do?
Hey man, can I ask how you got so good at parrying the monkey swipes?
They’re the only thing i don’t and can’t really parry, I actually find phase two, trivial;
cause you give him a sword
and now all of a sudden ….
it is very easy to read his moveset it’s very straightforward, besides that occasional 1 swipe that is meant to miss and then he comes back with the real swipe
, which is cake…
But yeah
Like my point shorter: at 1:21 and 1:55 you show that you have COMPLETE MASTERY over the gorilla move set, you’re fighting with the big one, actively I add, and the girl hops in and you just parry that shit???!!!?!
Like a man with a sharingan?
NANI???
How did you practice them/Gaudian ape ? Any strategy to learning him? Perfecting the patterns? Any insights, common patterns ? Something expressed like
(ie. 1-2 , 1-2-3 (pause) 4)
If that makes sense ?
Please! Lol those gorilla swipe are hard, I guess I just gotta block and learn their patterns
You’ve got them in your head like you know the back of you r hand 🤚
sure thing, here's what I did mostly:
1) practiced a lot against Guardian Ape. I have older fights recorded against him you can check out to see the patterns. 1st phase teaches you all about the brown ape, 2nd phase you learn what to deflect to trigger the combo that stuns him.
1st phase try to hold your ground, don't atack him, just let him do whatever. If you take attacking out of your mind, you can focus 100% on your defense. For better feedback to know when you failed deflections, you can take off the charm.
2) The brown ape only has like 4 attacks inherited from Guardian Ape: The 5 hit combo, the jump slam, the dragging on the floor hand strike, and the run around slap. Becoming familiar with the timing of this 4 moves is essential.
The brown ape only does these attacks on very distinctive moments.
-the 5 hit combo she does when the headless screams. 1, 2, pause, 1, 2, long pause, 1
-the jump slam she does after you stun the headless, after you jump the perilous sweep, after the headless lounges and slashes
-the dragging hand strike she does after the headless lounges and slashes at you, or after you jump the perilous sweep
-the circle around slap she does when you attack the headless in neutral
You can see during the fight that I position myself for the first three, since they are easy to deflect and they both take turns comfortably.
The fourth I avoid, since I'm playing with unlocked camera, the brown ape goes right behind you and slaps you, it was what gave most trouble until I stopped being so aggressive.
3) The headless mixups
When you fail deflecting the headless, he doesn't do the big combo that stuns him, and resets his behavior, so it is a must to learn all his normal attacks to get as many stun chances as possible.
He will sometimes hits only once and then go into big slam, others he hits twice then slams, others he hits twice into combo, others hits once, does a little run back, and returns with a slash, and so on.
You practice these during GA 2nd phase, hold the umbrella to guard yourself from the scream so you dont' have to run around so much. It's easy to bait a couple of sure deflections, but it makes your attemps much more consistent to learn them all, simply trial and error
4) joining both
Both apes are coded to take turns during certain moves. Notice how the headless keeps screaming or does nothing while you deflect the 5 hit combo of the brown ape. Or how the brown ape does nothing during the headless sword combo. Unexpected things can still happen, and good practice will give you the ability to improvise and defend effectively even if they get weird.
The brown ape is hard coded to jump slam after you stun the headless, and you have just enough time to use the spear, yank out the centipede, and deflect. It's easier than it looks, and I think the devs did this on purpose.
You can even get creative with other tools. You can throw oil pot to the brown ape, stun the headless, hit normally 2 or 3 times, and when the brown ape jumps at you, use fire mist raven to reposition behind her. She'll get stunned by the fiire, take extra damage because of oil, and you can follow up with many attacks if you want to kill her first.
Also notice that during the fight I choose to walk out of situations that would corner me, and pick up good moments to defend when I'll end up in good position. This took a lot of tries to learn, but as always, the enemy animation tells you everything about what they are going to do, recognizing these patterns will make you unbeatable.
@@CarmeloSantosF holy shit, you really broke that down. 🙏 thank you so much
I usually just take out gaurdian ape through prosthetics and combat art
He is just 100% easier than trying to deflect kill
And that how :
you just managed to inspire me to take today and tomorrow I’m gonna keep re-reading and put charmless on. And practice actually parrying them instead of hit dodge hot dodge repeat 🔁
Thank you sir 🙏 I myself type long paragraphs and often get, I’m not reading all that… well your bad your loss…. If you can’t read you can’t learn.
And you sir type a lot
That makes me happy :)
Grammar and proper speaking hasn’t completely been done away by mass media brain rot
@@TenaciousSea I'm really glad this wanted to make you try again differently. Also I'm not a native english speaker so I use big words and paragraphs because I don't know another way lol.
@@CarmeloSantosF seriously man I’m really admire your skill and especially for such a non important but more specific tag team fight.
I can tell you put a lot of thought into the apes’ cycles 🔁 🔃 🔄
Just cool, I personally wouldn’t have thought to master this one,
Right now I’m beating all endings for FTSoA
They are all pretty cool bosses
Then I’ll do resurrection
I’m trying to find more interesting video ideas!
You speak very well btw.
Justas P. Lanned approves!
Is there something unusual in this fight? Seems completely normal to me
the general prefered strategy is to get rid quickly of the headless with the mortal draw setup, or the firecrackers set up for the brown ape
I just decided to juggle them both
Bros cracked at fortnite
Very impressive but honestly I think Miyazaki would have the player use the shinobi tools.
@@andriyk8930 like the spear
What it's happening at 0:45? What art is that?
Spiral Cloud Passage as a reward for having Floating Passage, Ashina Cross and Shadowrush already unlocked, THEN having the Mushin Arts tome and investing 9 levels for it to unlock. The combat art can then be equipped and uses emblems as you attack
if you use divine confetti, your attacks can dispel the terror waves, so I chugged some terror resistance to endure it and attacked with Spiral Cloud Passage, which is the art with the fastest attacks. This allows to melt the monkey's health without running away from the scream
I have an older vid with the whole explanation
There's a different way to beat them????
i want to beat both apes without using any gadgets or combat arts or spirit emblems, just parrying and hitting and nothing else, how do i do it ??
during 1st phase, when he does the scream, run out, and resume deflecting
during 2nd phase, you can do similar to what I did, but instead of using the spear, hit the headless like 3 times with normal attacks after the stun, then deflect the jump attack of the brown ape
@@CarmeloSantosF I understood that much ..but then i don’t get enough time to actually hit the brown one ..because the white one starts wagging his stupid sword 🙄
@@siddhantdas1069 if you end up in an uncomfortable position where you can't deflect and they start attacking at the same time, reposition
it's doable, I've done it before, but you'll need a lot of patience
@@CarmeloSantosF sooooo I finally beat the apes ..I removed myself from situations where I was backed up against a corner
And one small hack I used was that I don’t have to unfocus the camera most of the time..instead I can switch the focus from one ape to another depending on who’s turn it is to hit me using the right analog stick
And I read your long paragraph response to someone else and all these things combined helped me a lot so thank you ❤️❤️
Subscribed 😄❤️😁😉
@@siddhantdas1069 awesome, great job!
and thank you!
wait how else do you do this boss? this is what i did was there a easier way iw as clueless to?
Nothing too special. No mortal draw setup or firecrackers setup, manipulating the AI so they take turns, rather efficient with resources (one divine confetti, seven spirit emblems, one gourd, two terror resistance sips, one pellet) and 2 missed deflections
@@CarmeloSantosF Oh right i forgot about the firecracker stuff
neat
