What a wonderful musician and man. I’m 76 British, I just love the man. I grew up with this man. So pleased he came back to give us more of his wonderful music.

Its incredible he started to perform live again. The writer and original singer of this hit song covered by many others well but they could never capture the feeling of the original IMO. His music is a gift to human kind. Glad to have you back....

He may have been even younger than 18 when he wrote it actually!

well converting to Islam meant he didn't partake in decades of smoking, drinking, drugs, touring and the late nights that musicians of his popularity, caliber and era were known for. So I'm sure his spiritual life and retreat from popular music is a big part of his singing voice being preserved.
No he doesn't. The music is less passionate and his voice is weaker, especially in the upper registers. I still love listening to him and so pleased he returned to music, but let's be realistic.

elmajor Nope, Cat wrote it! It's more well known nowadays though as a Rod Stewart or Sheryl Crow song, even though those are both covers.

Now 58 years old as a song. Still as powerul as when I listened to it more than 50 years ago. The soundtrack of the journey of life. He is a sublime songwriter.

I was so sad when he retired and felt it was such a shame to take his amazing talent away from the world.Yet he came back to us all and sings out once again.

Sorry to inform you but this is not Cat Stevens, this is Yusuf Islam and if you love him, you would respect his religion and name? Or maybe you hate something about it so much you can’t possibly call him an Arab/Islamic name?
We all love him though and although I’m only 27 I grew up listening to him… from my mother who introduced me to his music. My mother is an Arab Muslim who was born in 1970 in Morocco and grew up listening to him.
We all love him but please respect him and call him by his legal and preferred name. Yusuf Islam.

I wonder how many lives he has saved...? My entire relief comes from Yusuf Cat Stevens and a wild and enourmous number of Rock and Roll musicians... Sometimes the relief is so great that involuntary tears flow down the aging creases of my face... I just let them go or if I feel I am being watched I suck it up. A-lot of people have done more for the good of Earth than my-self. I am getting old, however, I am trying to catch on to the high standards of so many writer's and musician',s and artists... I won't ever unless I try as funny as thing's work out... I guess they had to try very hard to be as wonder-full as they are.

Great song, great lyrics and chord progression. This song was covered numerous times, but to be Rod Stewart's version is the standard. His voice and arrangement took it to another level.
