    1:30 CLASSIC dcs, the tanker goes into a turn just before or usually just after hookup lol

    I think this is the best AAR video I've ever seen. The thought process and principles are so much more important than strict procedure. Thank you!

    Thx so much. The point not to use the lights was a game changer for me!

    Biggest improvement for me when learning to refuel was when I finally solidly mounted my stick. If your stick is moving around, sliding or leaning on the desk, it makes things 100 times more difficult. I went from taking 20 minutes to hook up once to perfectly refueling f-18, f-16 and a10 first try after solid mounting stick.

      Without a proper stick you are lost. I went from Warthog stick to force sensing F16 Orion2 / Winwing. My refueling skills improved a lot, from like 3 connects and a total of 4-5mins I went to 1 connect and around 2 min refuel. I noticed I do a lot of microcorrections and my hand "wiggles" all the time, hardly noticable. Not possible with a normal, spring dependant joystick.

      @@Anderson_Hwangnow idgaf if you're using jesus christ to come do it for you, the shit is hard til you get some hours behind the seat practicing, there's a zero percent chance you could just pick up the sticks & AA refuel it your first time, maybe not even the first 50 times honestly.. You sure you wasn't playin ace combat lol

    Great video, Gaffer! Love your Viper content. Any chance you could make a tutorial for sighting options in the Viper? I'm not quite sure how to implement OAPs and VIP/VRPs into my cockpit workflow. Maybe an example surface attack against a SA-2 to demonstrate how and when they would be useful.
    Thanks again!

    Great video Sir!
    Do you have some curves and deadzones on your stick? And/or curve on your throttle?
    Would you share these please? It looks so easy when you get and stay in position.
    Again, great video!

    once I figured out how to use my aero break to fine tune my speed down to the single digit. it was so much easier I only had to glance at it and worry about my altitude.

    Hi Gaffer, would you be able to do a quick video or short on your f16 settings? I struggle to find a nice medium that feels good to fly with the viper module in terms of your stick sens, curvature, dead zone, etc. I love the fidelity of the viper but find myself going back to the f15c often because of feels much better to fly.
    Thanks.

      The F-16 has curves built into the flight model. I run 0 curve and a slight dead zone as God intended.

    Nice information, I got a Tobii 5 and even with eye tracking turned off it still responds to my eyes slightly. I guess in that case turning it off for AAR would be the best thing?

    I am using a thrustmaster 16000 HOTAS and for me the biggest problem is finding neutral speed and actually coming back to it. I've become somewhat proficient with flying in formation as in position of my f-16 to the tanker, however small adjustments to speed always f me up. Do you have any experience with that HOTAS for any tips?

    • @FLYGaffer
      @FLYGaffer  2 года назад +1

      I had a 16000 for a long time. There is a tension screw on the bottom of it (flip it over). I’d loosen that and also lubricate the rails inside the case that the throttle slides on. I’d refer you to google for what lubricant to use, I can’t remember what I used.

    • @bagatur8810
      @bagatur8810 2 года назад

      @@FLYGaffer Already loosened it a lot for it to be conveneint, however as it slides and isn't like those lever types, I am not able to remember/go back to neutral without looking at the controls visually. Maybe bring up the x y z controls on my screen while I practice just like you have them in the video? I just got this idea actually.

    • @FLYGaffer
      @FLYGaffer  2 года назад +1

      Perhaps try using the sound of the engine to figure that out

      I also use 16000 HOTAS, to make it smooth glide I use transparent tape between the metal and the plastic where it's slide. I also added some non corrosive lubricant for metal and plastic. I found this hack in youtube or reddit. Try it and you will see the different is night and day!

    Didn't play DCS much but for aerial refuel you should always fly straight in instead of going around the boom. Let the boomer do his thing, and if DCS have this correctly they should steer that away from your canopy, all you do is straight in and maintain contact position.
