Collin what you go do with Ingres paper is amazing. It is not easy to work on it. Patience is a virtue. You sir are the best.
Thank you Chris for your kind words
That’s going to be a beautiful drawing when finished it’s beautiful already the beautiful colored pencil strokes and blending is amazing
Thank you Brandy
You are absolutely wonderful in your teaching! Thank you sooo much for this! Big hug!
WOW!!! I needed some water tutorial and this are more than expected! Just great.
I'm working on a, to me difficult, project . A picture of one of my own dogs playing in a lake, and all the reflections in the water are driving me mad, this are a great help!
Thanks a lot :-) Lise
Thank you for your feedback

Alba Burgos Thank you for you feedback
I wonder for someone beginning to use pastels how many color shapers should one have to start out with. this is the first time seeing these and I love what they can do, the last painting I did with pastels I just used my finger but these give you so much control its wonderful.
David Lopez I generally suggest using the grey chisel number 2 to start off with, thank you for your interest.
I'm going to get some color blenders. I dont like using the paper stumps they seem to just take off what you just put on. Most of the time I use my fingers. The color blending tool demo here is GREAT !!
I am sure you would find them very useful.
Thank you for this!
Now I need to add the #10 to my wish list. I'm looking forward to playing with the colour blenders when they arrive. Brilliant technique tips, and absolutely stunning work, as always. Moonatic's David Attenborough comment made me smile, and spot on too :-)
Thank you again for all your kind comments
what is color shapers?..first time I'm hearing of it..this is so cool. I feel like I've been living under a rock..are those pastels in pencil form😮
Afeisha Simmons Colour shapers come in several shapes colours and sizes, I use the white and grey ones for use with my pastel pencils. The have a 'rubber' type tip which allows me to smooth in and blend the pastel application.
nice..I'm going to get these .

Lovely demonstration! I believe those brushes are also what some call clay shaping tool? Thank you very much for sharing.
s_anchia _ You are right the colour shapers are used for clay modeling although it is the black tipped one that works best for clay. Thank you for you kind comment
hi Colin i love your style. i've been working in mostly soft pastels for about three years now, and love that i can just keep on working. Although it seems like maybe sometimes I put down too much color at once , then when I apply more colors it builds up and will not blend in well. I think i need to lighten up my applications of color. Would you ever consider doing a workshop in the United States.
Thanks Debbie
Thank you for your kind comments I am so pleased that you are enjoying watching the clips. I would love to hold a workshop in the US given the chance, in fact it is very likely that we will be coming over to the US in September on a business trip.
really !! how could I keep in touch with you about this? I'm sure you would need a group of students to hold a workshop. There are about 6 adults in my art class doing pastels also, mostly everyone uses soft pastels and pastel pencils for small areas. I just subscribed to get push notifications on your web site. Is this the best way to keep in touch with you?
+Deborah Barbaccia Please feel free to email us at colinbradleyart you will find the details on our website
Hi Colin, I recently was on a narrowboat on the Kennett and Avon Canal and have just seen a segment of your canal scene 02:10. Is there a full tutorial of that scene that I may study and have a look at and hopefully do a similar scene from photos? Thanks.
We do have a course on our members site for this subject - search for ‘Narrowboats at Rest’ in the landscape category, thank you for you interest.
Amazing work!

Amazing ! The details in your picture are incredible . Are you using the Faber Castle Pitt pastelsor other brand for such detail ? I find them a bit chalky and can't get them to stick to the Canson Mi Tientes pastel paper . Thank you for your time
I am using Faber-Castel for all the detail but I use Ingres pastel paper that might be the difference. Thank you for your feedback.

Thanks for the reply . Are the Stabilo Are CarbOthello Patel coloring pencils softer then the Faber Pitt and are they as chalky ?
How about Caran D’Ache pencils . Out of three brands which one is the less chalky , and soft that resembles the creamy soft oil pastel sticks .
Which one of the Clairfontain pastelmat works with the pencils ! I appreciate your advise and all the free tutorials you have posted for the general public . I am planing to sign up for some of them you offer for the members . I have the Faber Castles Pitt pencils , but not the paper to draw that you recommend yet .
Wow 😲 amazing!!!
Thank you for your kind feedback

I don't have any color shapers, what can I use instead?
Before I had the colour shaper I used the paper blenders that are widely available, they are not quite as good though.
I would suggest you use you finger this is something I do myself a lot.
