So the drag isn’t working? Double check that the little drag washer is sitting under the main gear on the ratchet, make sure the main drag washer is sitting in the main gear and that the dome shaped metal washer that sits on top of it is facing down the right way and pressing on the washer. Also make sure you didn’t put too much drag grease on the washers if you put some on, and then if that stuff is all good… be sure that the drag star is pressed down into the reel with the spring all the way flush and that your handle is on correctly.
The tiny pin and spring that makes your drag click??? 😳 Those are easy to lose! If you want your drag to click yes it’s necessary, but that’s up to you man. It’s your reel. If it were me I would absolutely replace any missing part because it would drive me nuts knowing it’s not complete and working the way it should be. 😂 There is a link in the description for parts of you need it. Those parts should be like 1$ each plus shipping. 🤙🏽
Hmmm well I haven’t used or worked on a dc, but I’d think besides the brakes it would basically be the same as this reel. Most engagement/ disengagement issues are because the ratchet isn’t placed back on flush when someone puts the reel back together as shown at 31:28 in this video, so definitely check that first. 🤙🏽
@@dhalif So it was sitting down and flush with the square keyed pattern huh? Hmm that’s usually the issue. Well I guess just have to keep checking things and play with that mechanism with the reel open to maybe spot where it’s going wrong. Make sure it’s all super clean and no dirt or anything is stopping it, grease and oil it all up, inspect all the parts to make sure nothing is broken, make sure everything is in the exact right place and sitting flush like the roller clutch inner tube as well that’s also keyed into the top of that main gear. Could be the spring maybe. You should be able to spot the issue by just eliminating possibilities one by one, it’s a pain in the butt sometimes haha but you always end up finding the problem.
Idk for sure haha but it’s in there for a reason ya know, I would replace it if it were me. Especially since that part is only 99 cents on the parts site. Part number BNT5319. fishshop.shimano.com/collections/slxxt151
Nevermind turned my drag up and it works fine now. I would buy the little piece but it cost 8$ since shipping is 7 so I'm probably going to just find another baitcaster and take it from that one. Not having the little thing inside makes it so you can't change the tension so basically it is unusable. Also thanks for the great video only and best I have seen on taking apart a SLX
@@fastshark-wq5cw Oh yeah…? I’ve never tried it without that part. You can maybe find it on eBay too. No problem man glad you found the video useful 👊🏽😊

Ahhh that sucks man I’m sorry. Gotta be so careful, and starting with a flathead helps bust em loose. They’re so fragile it’s crazy. 🤦🏻♂️ There is a link in the description for parts and the schematic. Sometimes they sell out of those screws cause it happens so much, so you can always try eBay (to compare prices also) once you find the exact part number you need. 🤙🏽
@@WhereWeWild alr thxs bro appreciate it. After I tried a flathead and i was able to get it out. Im going to try and get a replacement screw. Thxs for the help

Not sure what you’re saying man. 🤔 Do you mean the little pin that makes the drag star click? Regardless, any part you lose you can go to the schematic link in the video description and order a replacement if they have it available.
@jurepeternelj Oooooooh hahaha I get it. 😁 I thought you were saying you ran into problems with yours, haha but yeah I think a lot of people just try to do it first then search out the video when they run into trouble. 😂
Best maintenance tutorial video on the internet. As a reel (real) newb I could follow all steps easily. Great job.
Thanks man! 👊🏽😃 Really appreciate it! Happy the video helped you out! Thanks for watching 🎣😊🤙🏽
I have a few I need you to do for me!!!😁🤣🤣. But seriously! Haha. Nice work man.
Lol thanks man 👊🏽😁
I did everything and really made sure but when I fully tighten the drag it’s not even heavy it’s really light😢idk what’s wrong

Hi I have an slx dc 151 hg but the thumb release disengages halfway when I turn the lever.. is that normal
