these videos have helped me so much. my normal singing voice (no falsetto) used to be. A2 - G4. with the help of his videos my range is now F#2- C5. my falsetto used to only go to F5 but now goes well into G#5. trust me guys these videos work, but you have to be consistent and practice often to see results that you want.
Woah, that's nice... I really want to belt up to G5 or higher, but I just cant, I can only reach up to F5... I should really try the exercises he wants us to do...
Maybe i can help hopefully you devolop something during The Time i sang for maybe two years with a range from E2-B3 just chest voice never sang falsetto or in The head voice but The Last three months going trough Lot of pain and tears i build up enough strengh to mix my Registers since 3 months iam singing from C2-F5(G#5) with a pretty ok Vocal tone but my voice Is still Growing a good Tipp Is not to oversing stuff take breaks Listen to your body stop when your feel tiered during singing The high notes and just work on The edges of your Range but sing low notes too if your diaphram and Vocal cords are getting tiered take Short breaks and if you come back i promise you things will get easier but it Takes time be prepared but never give up good luck !!
I’m new to these videos and all these terms just want to know a good place to start I have a good chest voice but I crack in the middle and I thought that was just all I had but apparently I can fix that...I’ll keep watching
Thank you Ken! I sing so many songs in mixed voice, because I just like the keys they fall in. They're usually too low to go all head voice, but too high to belt out in chest voice the whole time. I'm always trying to get my transitions to and from head voice to be smooth and seamless...those exercises are helpful!
Well I don't know how to sing in any better but I can now kick a soccer ball 80 yards so that's something! Side note, I think my knee bends the wrong way.
this is a video about mixed voice but you didn't mention anything about placement and nasal resonance? That is absolutely vital right? Also this exercise teaches you to have a wide open mouth shape which can be detrimental to vocal tract and can cause jaw tension.
This is a very good exercise. I learnt this from a teacher called Ron Anderson. I appreciate more of your insight into it. When I do this exercise a lot of the 'Buzz' from the 'leh' disappears as I go higher - like you, there's no break and the sound actually stays full. But could you confirm this is the correct sensation? I also yawn into the up note and turn the vowel more into a 'Uh' than a 'Eh'.
I studied with Ron for some time, among about 30 other well-known coaches around the world. Out of all of them, Ron was one of the few that really knew more of the right, helpful information. Some of the chest buzz will go away as you reach into more head voice in your mix. But that's why I teach a very timbral, bright form of head voice, that matches the buzz of chest voice much better. I have my students learn this form of bright timbral head voice before learning Mixed voice.
That's very interesting. I agree, there is a lot of nonsense out there. Okay, thank you for that information :) One last question (Sorry haha).. did you learn about fry/grit from Ron as well or is that not something he teaches? P.S. I am highly interested in your 'Gold bundle' package and will be looking to purchase at the end of February. You have a lot of great free info as well, thank you :)
Hi, Mr. Ken does it mean mixed voice is maintain the compression and add head voice as we go higher? i don't think open throat and lifted soft palate are fundamental here, i can do mix voice with closed mouth on very nasal tone and any larynx position. so my conclusion mixed voice is about maintain compression and supported. please correct me. :) thanks
There is a little more to it than that. You have to grow your chest voice as high as you want to sing in mixed voice. You also have to grow your head voice as low as you want to sing in mixed voice. Then you fuse them together.
@@kentamplin Many thanks for your reply Mr. Ken it's mean alot for me and for anyone who confused to explain whats happen to their voice or how exactly it's work 😂 honestly i'm really overthink about it. The reason we can do mix voice with closed mouth maybe caused the support that forced it's to stay open or maybe we can still open the throat with closed mouth. 😵
Ken...Question. Why would you mention going into your head voice for this exercise.....when it's purpose is to develop mixed voice? Aren't they 2 seperate entities? Just curious. Thanks!
Mix voice is a blend of head voice and chest voice. You use both. You still have a passaggio, and you have to choose how much head voice and how much chest voice you blend at any given note or moment.
hallo kak tamplin.. maaf saya menggunakan bahasa indonesia karena saya orang indonesia.. saya mau tanya gimana caranya pindah dari chest voice ke head voice dengan menggunakan mix voice.. terimakasih 😊
Don't try to go "Pro" as in making a living at it until you've mastered some skills. Even then, most musicians and singers need some means to support themselves while they try to start a career in music. It's not an easy thing to accomplish, as far as making a living. You can, however, train your voice to sing at a pro level, and do what you can to follow your dreams.
Ken, Why are people obsessed with this cat named David Phelps. You most likely know 1st tenors over the years in older gospel quartets like the ones Elvis once sang with have innate ability to thin out in natural voice. Do you think David Phelps is a true 1st tenor, or a tenor 2 who consistently struggles to thin out at C5 and D5.
Let me know if these singing tutorial videos are helping you to learn about the voice! I love to read your comments, and hear what you want to learn more about! I also appreciate your song suggestions. Please like this video, and subscribe to my channel. Thanks for being here!
They are very helpful, thanks! Would love to see more videos on how to learn to sing hard rock with distortion and rasp properly and safely. I've watched the videos that you have on this topic in your Pro Bundle, but am still confused about exactly what to practice and what to feel for in my body and throat. Thank you!
Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy ken I already have a very strong chest voice but the closest I can get to head voice is with falsetto and it's very flutey how do I exercise that to make it more bold so to speak
Hi, Mina! What I am teaching in my course you won't find in any college. They teach you what they learned in a book or a classroom. I teach you what I learned from going all over the world and seeking out the 30 best vocal coaches and singing instructors in the entire world, and it took about 30 years. A great amount of that information was contradictory, so I tried every bit of it out on stages in concerts around the world. I threw out the things that didn't really work and combined the things that did work and put them in the right sequence. What I came up with is like no other course, whether in a brick-and-mortar school, or an online vocal program. Many of those others have "borrowed" from me, so they can say "I teach that" but then they just can't get it right, and instead lead you down their own dead-end path. I look forward to you growing your voice and taking advantage of the skills and techniques that have taken me a lifetime to put together. You get the benefit of my 30 years of work and struggle, put into a course that will last you a lifetime, without having to find all of the scattered pieces like I did to put it together.
Mina Adel its a steal for all the information you get.Keep doing his free videos, these will strengthen your vocal and they are great to keep your vocal focused muscle memory
I'm 18, I've been trying to sing ever since I was 15 and I still cannot achieve that mixed voice. I've watched countless tutorials and explanation videos on mixed voice which definitely helped, but for the most part I think I've taught myself to get closer and closer to achieving mixed voice by just trial and error. After teaching myself through many failed attempts, I've watched your video and I am happy that I was going in the right direction... very reassuring to hear that my 3 year effort didn't just go to waste. I may not have been born with talent to sing but I will definitely get there. Considering that I was tone deaf 3 years ago I think I've come a long way now! Some people tell me that I have a good singing voice, which is a compliment I would've never received 3 years ago haha
Ken you’re so helpful. Before my vocal range used to be A2-F4 where I’d break. I’d used to think my mixed voice was just impossible to find but I’ve had it the whole time. Now I can get from G2-G#4-C#5(mixed)-D#6
I'm a baritone, I've always just had mixed voice and now I just fully discovered it, now it changed my highest chest note from a B4 all the way to an F#5 thanks Ken
I just spent about a million dollars taking vocal lessons for about 30 years. Everybody told me conflicting information on how this all works. I had to sort it all out on stage and in the recording studio to prove out what worked and what was worthless B.S. There is a way to make this work. There are an infinity of ways that are dead-ends that do NOT work. My course shows you, step-by-step how to make it work.
wow, i’m envious. i can go from about an E2 to a D4. i’m really hoping that with these videos and a lot of practice i’ll be able to sing up to at least an A4.
Thank you Ken you really are an inspiration. I am 61 and really cannot sing for peanuts. During the last two years I've been learning guitar. Playing simple traditional melodies from Hal Leonard's books - I can't play them well yet but I've noticed that when trying to sing - the guitar really guides me to the correct notes. My objective is to impress my wife and kids with one or two songs. Is it really possible? Do you have a short course for people like me who just want a bit of fun?
Of course it's possible, and I do have a Weekend Warriors course for those who don't want to put in the time it would take to seriously pursue the voice at a more professional level. Check it out, Kevin: KenTamplinVocalAcademy.com/
Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy I'm 2 years late but since you are very advanced in singing for a guy like me is our head voice our falsetto or what do you think of it ? It's the same register or different
Best Mix Voice Video I ever found on the web, I'm a baritone and my voice is super low, and with this I could extend the top note (G4) all the way up to a C5, Thank You Ken, I you were here i would give you a big hug
Elva Rezi ENTERTAINMENT Vocal type is more about the color of the voice than the range ... don’t get branded with titles and classifications unless u plan on being a classical or operatic singer... otherwise sing whatever feels comfortable. Ken was singing Michael Jackson songs in the original key . He didn’t sound as light as Michael Jackson because they have different voices making them both unique , nevertheless they both could sing the same notes.
Yesterday ,there was a guy at the door telling me he came to tune my piano. I told him i didn't order a piano tuner. He said no, but you're neighbours did
Hope this doesn't sound rude but what's with the tongue? I've only ever seen you do this. Is it to do with releasing tension on? or is it to do with tone or what?
You're not being rude, you're just asking, and that's fine, so thanks for asking. This is the most relaxed position of Open Throat Technique. First you train the tongue flat to the base of the mandible, then concave to the jaw, then in it's most relaxed state it will protrude away from the back of the throat, creating maximum space in the back of the throat for perfect vocal tract shaping (as well as using it in place of hard consonants and glottal stops which become problematic and constrictive especially when singing hard ock).
It may create tension for you. I didn't get to it myself for years, and it's not part of what I teach in my course. Tongue position, yes, but this particular position, no, it's a bit advanced for most students. If it requires you to tense your tongue, then you're not doing it correctly. It's done through almost total relaxation.
My earlier vocal teachers always used to talk about "support" but I never understood what it was. I managed to get a strong passage from chest to middle but your explanation--that strong head voice is dependent on a strong chest--finally gave me an understanding of what support is. I still need to build a stronger chest. Thanks Ken!
Thank you for this wonderful platform of learning really great music & techniques. I am an Indian classical Ghazal Singer & I need help with my lower notes. I am great with high notes but really bad with low notes which are extremely important in Ghazal Singing. Basically my voice doesn't have Bass. Please help & advise
A person would have to hear what is happening with your voice on those low notes, in order to give youfeedback, Bhupendra! You can post an audio or video demo that shows the issue you are having on my singer's forums. The moderators there can listen and make suggestions.
Practice. He's hitting an F5. You can put in the work and build your chest voice very high and overlap your head voice. It takes time and the correct methods and techniques.
I’m fine with falsetto and chest voice - both loud and clear, but the first few notes after the flip to falsetto are just quieter, how can I get them to be just as loud as the rest???
It takes time and practice. There are many things to keep in balance in order to balance out all of the things that control getting through your passaggio.
Do you recommend leaning into the sound going up? I've heard from some people that the way to sing higher is move the sound deeper into the back of the throat. Not sure which one you recommend. Also is there a limit as to how much higher you can take your chest voice? For example can a Baritone pull up chest to the A4/B4 range?
I started following your singing lessons like a month ago and i DO NOT REGRET IT. Other online singing tutorials explain the vocal technique you want to learn, but your singing lessons explain everything around the vocal technique (like you said about "building a house") so that i really understand it. This makes your tutorials actual lessons and i love them. After just a month i can sing much much better, better than i could imagine after just a month. Keep doing what you do because you bring joy to so many people who want to learn how to sing!
Also other singing tutorials try to make everything easier by changing the technique and stuff, but that's just not the way it works. You can only learn how to sing by dedication and practicing using the right techniques or you will end up hurting yourself
I feel like a struggle more with middle voice than my falsetto. When singing a lower note to a higher one a have trouble getting there smoothly but if I sung the two notes separately I can do them fine. It’s not something I noticed until I started watching your videos. I’m probably good at my falsetto simply because I thought that was the issue and kept practicing that thinking it was the problem haha. So thank you for that. I’ll start working on it. It’s frustrating when I’m trying to sing notes that I feel like are definitely in my range and my voice breaks.
Thats really weird . I learned to grow my range , By full and mixed voice over the years Then i found how to master the larynx for even ultra high stuff . But i never worked my head voice purely . I dont use it But my style can be very distorted , And my teacher told me for metal guys " if you dont train your head voice , Mixed scream fucked up the head over time "... And my head voice is fucked up . Its like voice extinction sounding over a certain high. I have it on basic stuff because i dont smoke , dont drink excessivily , dont do drugs . But on higher stuff .. its shot . On Chest voice , i can go around 4 octaves . Head voice ? Forget it .
Even after watching many videos, I still have trouble finding my “mixed” voice. I have been singing for years in chest voice, but once puberty hit, things have obviously changed (I’m 15 now). I have this strange head register that’s not falsetto, but I sound like I’m dying and obviously can’t use this voice when I’m singing, but it’s there. I understand that vocal chords are like muscles and can grow with time and practice, but do you have any advice for me, Ken? I still have a break and can sometimes get around that, but it doesn’t sound full and strong at all. Thanks so much for your videos though, they seem very helpful even though I haven’t found my mix yet.
The answer is real vocal training. Tips are not sufficient. You need techniques that work. If you actually want to improve you should follow a complete course and do, mostly, workouts that are designed to build your voice. You can sing all day, every day, but if you aren't learning proper vocal techniques and practicing correctly, you could actually be embedding bad habits and harming your voice, rather than building it. I cover all this in my singing course. Please check it out! kentamplinvocalacademy.com/
I've been doing research here and there, then practicing till what I learned becomes part of my style then studying more. I have a hard time going long periods of time in the head voice, but for a barotone speaker, I think I can get pretty high. When I am struggling with a song, there is something that I've been doing, similar to when he was singing "allang", but not saying that.. I'll explain, but I think it is how to connect the two. Edited so the video didn't auto shuffle. So, a part of my research involved learning to sing Phantom of the Opera, said that Opera singers hold their trachea in the position of a yawn. So when I'm struggling, I was the song, do a fake yawn and feel my throat, then try to sing without allowing it to slide out of that position. From there, you can do, what seem like mini-belts to freely move theough my vocal range. It is kind of like what James from Metallica does at the end of almost ever line. If you haven't heard the song, you can hear James' noise he makes well at the end of each "yeah" and the start of I Disappear. It is like he uses small exhales to shift where his voice is in his range. I hope that makes sense. This still isnt natural to me, but I am working on it.
This helped me so much! I've been in classes and trying to do the mixed voice but it just wouldn't work but I feel like I can really get it developed with this technique since it doesn't hurt at all, like it usually does. Thank you!
Im 14 my vocal range (no falsetto) is D2 - D#4 My chest voice, head voice, and whistle registers are all far stronger than my mixed voice like I found it and how to use it but it’s so weak that I can’t project using it.
Mixed voice is in an area that isn't as strong as chest voice. It also takes time to build what strength you can grow there. Add to that, your voice will be changing and that will also create moving targets.
Hi Ken, first of all thank you so much for all the incredibly useful material you are uploading for all of us, personally it has helped me enormously and I'm about to record the vocals on my album. There is a question that I'm sure many singers like me would like to be answered but nobody seems to give a straight answer and I would love to hear your valued opinion on this: Is mixed voice considered as only a question of resonance in relation to chest and head, for example I could sing in my mixed resonance while chest belting in the C5 zone or is there some sort of "ghost mix third register" during the secondo passaggio where you can sing in? Basically are we technically always either in chest or head register when we sing or not? I sing rock and my secondo passaggio shift lasts only the moment I connect. Thanks man, you seriously rock! Greetings from London.
Stefan Romance- Thanks for your kind word and thoughtful question. Please join my vocal forum. These are the types of questions myself or my commentators answer. Check it out! forum.kentamplinvocalacademy.com It's free :)
I find that changing the vowel at the break to head voice, from "on" to "and" for example, makes it harder to avoid the yodel. Why would that be the case, and is it just a matter of practice to get it right?
Paul, practice doing scales through the register change on the "AA" vowel, as in And. Practice at low volume, and get your connecting skills working better on that vowel.
You help me so MOUCH before my range was Bb2~B4~D6 but I was so weak and no conection and feel really tense above F#4 now my Range is Eb2~D6~Bb6 and my mix Sems like a octave LOWER THAN actually is like now F#4/G4/G#4 Feels like E4 and my C#/D/D# sems loweer and easier
thankyou mr.Ken, im not a talented person in vocal but you help me a lot for developing my vocal, i can figure it out how vocal technique works, now i just need to do more practice, i believe practice make perfect, thankyou thankyou and thankyou
I'm a teenager , at the age of 14 . I have a weak chest voice , really weak and feminine like Shawn Mendes . So I lack both chest and head voice of mine . I can't sing high enough as I have gone through puberty . What should I do ? Of cuz for grown people they already have good chest voice .

So mind blowingly glad that I stumbled on this video. I've looked at your website and you definitely have my respect and undivided attention. Coaching finalists on the voice and many other people who have exceptional talent and skill, seemingly with ease?! Thank god I found this video. Thank god :D Actually. Thank you Ken!

Hey guys, it's Ken. The question I was just asked was: Is "Bridging" the same as "Mixed Voice?" Bridging is the "passaggio" (i.e. the passage way from chest to head / reinforced falsetto and back) using approximately one or two notes to "bridge" to get from chest to head and back. Mixed Voice is expanding that "passaggio" where you can have a percentage of chest and head voice (i.e. "mix") throughout around an octave of your voice. This octave will vary in note value registration depending on the voice type. Some people can only mix 2-3 notes (because they haven't worked on it), some can do more than an octave.
Thanks for Your lesson My vocal range is now: Lowest: D2 Highest (Chest): G#4 Highest (Mixed): F#5 Highest (Head): Eb5 Highest (Falsetto): F#6 All from your lessons and advice
Wow wonderful video. I read about chesty mixed voice, heady mixed voice, balanced mixed voice. I’m a little confused, what’s the difference between these form of singing? In your explanation it seems that there is no difference…
Hey, Ken, I am trying to learn how to sing in mix voice. I think i might be singing in mix voice sometimes but i cant really tell. i can feel that it is not my chest voice or my head voice but i still cant hit some notes very easily and when i sing it sounds like a weird whiny shaky sound. I am trying to learn mix voice for theatre, if you are familiar at all I'm trying to get my mix to sound like gavin creel's mix.
Heck yeah, every thing he says about the yawn stretch and the yawn open throat sensation I have experienced myself! You must have a balance between yawn sensations and twang qualities of voice. Like the yawn sensations shouldn't be stuck down in throat, but the open throat sensations should be felt yawn in the masque, or above the pencil technique
DUDE THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I was singing with 2 much chest and couldnt reach higher than b4, and im a tenor, now im belting c5s with ease . THIS VIDEO HELPED ME SO MUCH!
You can learn to lower your larynx. When you apply a little bit of that "lowering" sensation, you can effectively keep your larynx more centered. It's OK for the larynx to move. That's natural. But when it jams up at the top of the throat, it cuts off the air and chokes the cords.
@@kentamplin thank you! I appreciate such a fast answer! So I'll try to move it down, but man it's hard to control it. So I guess I have to practice alot
I e been a singer since the age of 5, and the mixed voice is the most difficult thing to master...Why? In my honest opinion it's because it's more of an abstract thing.....it's something you feel anatomically, and psychologically. Singing can be a major mind Fu@k if you let it. Lol! Your videos and approach are fantastic...as is your vibe an attitude. You have a phenomena voice. I'd love to work with you somehow....
At first I could only glide thru the passagio at low volume, so I thought it wasn't really mixed voice. I kept working at it though and now I can do it at a moderate volume and it's getting smoother. I find sirens going high->low->high are easier when I start to lose it, since a high mix forces my larynx down. I also noticed it seems a lot easier to find my mix in the early morning, since nothing is tense yet in my throat. 😅
Thank you so much ken for clarifying the two different passaggios... i was so confused as i knew what is my head voice and can hit it separately but when i start with the chest voice, i always used to end up in my belting voice .. thank you for solving this mystery.. you are awesome.. i will definitely take up your course once i have money ... Thanks again
Hi Ken - can you please put together a list of songs to listen to and practice to become vocally versatile? I trust your opinion on this. Some songs are just not worth listening to because of the autotune or other artificial modifications. Anyone. Please share!

Am an 🇮🇳Indian Believe me guyzz this is just amazing u can shift ur scale like 1 key in two weeks And with in three months ur gonna get an amazing range of singing... What ever u are baritone or alto whtever.. Trust me.. Trust him ❤
This is a really great explanation on how to ascend and descend using a mix of voices starting with the chest as a strong foundation and gently backing off weight and leaning into the higher sounds smoothly. Is the mixed voice a middle register, that uses all resonators? Is the mixed voice something you generally want to stay in to use the power of all resonators?
Hey ken I wanted to ask if you could checkout nick pitera and maybe explain a little on how to grow the mix to get such a pointed sound like he does with it, another vocal coach Tara did a reaction on it and she really emphasized how much control he has and how sharp a bd strong it is and I immediately thought of strong and sharp as ken
What I really can't get & learn is the famous Whistle Note! I used to do it high n higher when I was a kid but now as an adult I forgot how I used to do it! n I'm trying my best to learn that again. I know it's not the main thing in singing but it's like the glitter of a song so how can I do that? ❤️
Hey Ken, love your tutorials, your videos are a great help. I've checked out your website also and your Pro Bundle content I will purchase in the not too distant future, ASAP, to be honest, I have a couple other music projects and things pending first. Chris Cornell, may he rest in peace, was my all-time favorite singer, and I can go relatively high for a baritone(not as high as Chris) when needed but I want to obtain a bit more extended range and control in the upper register of my voice and I believe your just the man to get me there. Appreciate your time. Cheers.
Is it just me or will your head and chest voice just not mix I mean like maybe I’ll get it in the future but right now I’ve been trying for 30 minutes straight to try to even get close to maxing it but it’s just not working lol
how to sing like BTS members? please give me one vocal exercises system, one vocal exercises video, one tutorial video, you are perfect singer and vocal coach, and I have your hope.
Hi Ken. I've noticed that when I go from chest to head voice it doesn't break, but it does go really raspy/gritty until I'm fully in head voice. How can I make this work properly?
I can't sing high note even always can't reach any falsetto. Its always like a crack sound. I really want to build it uo but don't know how to start it.
I'm gonna try this tomorrow again. But I feel although I have some mixed voice notes (b4 highest) I still have a little transition in this exercise. It seems pretty advanced. I feel you need to master head voice before you do this😭
these videos have helped me so much. my normal singing voice (no falsetto) used to be. A2 - G4. with the help of his videos my range is now F#2- C5. my falsetto used to only go to F5 but now goes well into G#5. trust me guys these videos work, but you have to be consistent and practice often to see results that you want.
Woah, that's nice... I really want to belt up to G5 or higher, but I just cant, I can only reach up to F5... I should really try the exercises he wants us to do...
Hey man how long did it take to develop your range?
Myth Does Everything how do you connect chest and head voice?
I'm always trying to get my transitions to and from head voice to be smooth and seamless...those exercises are helpful!
mootbooxle- Really happy to hear the vids are helpful!
It's unbelievable how precious these videos are... I'm so thankful to him for all this free content. That's some true altruism. Thanks from Brasil.
Wagner, I'm happy to help you to learn more about your voice. You're welcome. And hello to all of my friends in Brasil!
Someday, if I get the nerve, I'll record a video of me singing to post as a video response. Thanks!
Wagner Menzori- Would love to hear that! Send it to ktvainfo@gmail.com
Well I don't know how to sing in any better but I can now kick a soccer ball 80 yards so that's something! Side note, I think my knee bends the wrong way.
Keep watching. Your voice will catch on, Umer!
OMG! This comment is the best! Hahahahhaaaaaaahahah
Bruh.
😂😂
Jajajajjaja
Great tutorial! It really gives me an idea of how to bridge chest and head voice. :)
Brother! Amazing video once again... Great way of explaining what the mixed voice is!
Thanks, Jordan!
Ken Sir after seeing your videos I am willing to buy your Course But I think I am very late to go Pro at 17 years
But Sir You are Great
No, 17 is in no way too late... But don't wait too long! :-)
Very good!)
Thank you! Cheers!
My chest voice ranges from B2 to B4 and head voice from C4 going up wards but I can't mix I wanna learn how to !!
this is a video about mixed voice but you didn't mention anything about placement and nasal resonance? That is absolutely vital right? Also this exercise teaches you to have a wide open mouth shape which can be detrimental to vocal tract and can cause jaw tension.
Is it normal if my nasal/nose feels itchy after sing in mixed voice?(I just found my mix)
i cant tell if im sing in mixed or not
Hey Ken, can you please do a video on singing like 30 Seconds to Mars? Songs like This is War and The Kill would be death defying to sing 👍
Jayden Rise- Thanks for the suggestion!
Fry and grit isn't something that Ron specializes in. I haven't seen a demo of Ron on PainKiller or Dio.
I will definitely be coming to you for some guidance on that subject then :)
Hi, Mr. Ken
does it mean mixed voice is maintain the compression and add head voice as we go higher?
i don't think open throat and lifted soft palate are fundamental here, i can do mix voice with closed mouth on very nasal tone and any larynx position. so my conclusion mixed voice is about maintain compression and supported.
please correct me.
Bruh i started with G2-F4 couldn't sing higher than that with chest but now can sing frm Eb - A4 belt les go
Rock on!

Some people save up for college and I'm just here saving up for your course ^_^

Congrats!
I'm a baritone, I've always just had mixed voice and now I just fully discovered it, now it changed my highest chest note from a B4 all the way to an F#5 thanks Ken
Awesome, MST_Prometheus!
WTF!!! How!! I'm a low baritone, tell me your secrets! How did you discover it.
WHAT? IMMA NEED TO PRACTICE NOW. I'M A TENOR. MY HIGHEST BELT WAS G#5 BUT I CAN ONLY HIT E5 NOW AND I DONT KNOW HOW TO MIX.🙁
ey, iz joharri apolinar How has your mixed voice devleopment gone?
His videos are very helpful in many ways, my vocal range as a bass has developed so well, from A1-A4 to F1-C5

Vocal type is more about the color of the voice than the range ... don’t get branded with titles and classifications unless u plan on being a classical or operatic singer... otherwise sing whatever feels comfortable. Ken was singing Michael Jackson songs in the original key . He didn’t sound as light as Michael Jackson because they have different voices making them both unique , nevertheless they both could sing the same notes.

@@willemdegrebber7227 Hahaha!
Hahaha I have complaints from my neighbours all the time!
Thank you, that's something to practice this week. Trickyfor me to do this without just creating more tension
It may create tension for you. I didn't get to it myself for years, and it's not part of what I teach in my course. Tongue position, yes, but this particular position, no, it's a bit advanced for most students. If it requires you to tense your tongue, then you're not doing it correctly. It's done through almost total relaxation.

How do I sing high notes so easily in mixed voice like Zayn Malik in You and I??
Practice. He's hitting an F5. You can put in the work and build your chest voice very high and overlap your head voice. It takes time and the correct methods and techniques.
Something about this exercise really helps me to sing better, even if I'm not using head voice!

I learned to grow my range , By full and mixed voice over the years
Then i found how to master the larynx for even ultra high stuff .
But i never worked my head voice purely . I dont use it
But my style can be very distorted ,
And my teacher told me for metal guys " if you dont train your head voice , Mixed scream fucked up the head over time "...
Forget it .
you're perfect.👌🔥🔥
Master, how can we solve the problem of shortness of breath in reading?🙏

Thank you!
Awesome, Antonia!
Im 14 my vocal range (no falsetto) is D2 - D#4
My chest voice, head voice, and whistle registers are all far stronger than my mixed voice like I found it and how to use it but it’s so weak that I can’t project using it.
Mixed voice is in an area that isn't as strong as chest voice. It also takes time to build what strength you can grow there. Add to that, your voice will be changing and that will also create moving targets.
I knew it I can’t do the headvoice🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Hi Ken, first of all thank you so much for all the incredibly useful material you are uploading for all of us, personally it has helped me enormously and I'm about to record the vocals on my album.
There is a question that I'm sure many singers like me would like to be answered but nobody seems to give a straight answer and I would love to hear your valued opinion on this:
Is mixed voice considered as only a question of resonance in relation to chest and head, for example I could sing in my mixed resonance while chest belting in the C5 zone or is there some sort of "ghost mix third register" during the secondo passaggio where you can sing in? Basically are we technically always either in chest or head register when we sing or not? I sing rock and my secondo passaggio shift lasts only the moment I connect.
Thanks man, you seriously rock!
Greetings from London.

Hey guys, it's Ken. The question I was just asked was:
Is "Bridging" the same as "Mixed Voice?"
Bridging is the "passaggio" (i.e. the passage way from chest to head / reinforced falsetto and back) using approximately one or two notes to "bridge" to get from chest to head and back.
Thanks for Your lesson My vocal range is now:

I just started watching, want to learn how to sing, your lessons are wonderful
I'm glad you found me, TAMIKA!
when i do that, my larynx shoots up in the higher tones, how do i fix that?
You can learn to lower your larynx. When you apply a little bit of that "lowering" sensation, you can effectively keep your larynx more centered. It's OK for the larynx to move. That's natural. But when it jams up at the top of the throat, it cuts off the air and chokes the cords.
@@kentamplin thank you! I appreciate such a fast answer! So I'll try to move it down, but man it's hard to control it. So I guess I have to practice alot
When you yawn, your larynx will go down.
Exercise starts at 05:52 ......👍
At first I could only glide thru the passagio at low volume, so I thought it wasn't really mixed voice.

Thanks again
so the passageway is like a stair coming from the first floor[chest voice] to the second floor [head voice] I think I got it
Hi Ken - can you please put together a list of songs to listen to and practice to become vocally versatile? I trust your opinion on this. Some songs are just not worth listening to because of the autotune or other artificial modifications. Anyone. Please share!
Rae M-That's a great question for my free singing forum! Please post there, beneath "General Singing". Other singers will benefit from the reply and you will receive great feedback from either myself or one of my moderators. It's free! forum.kentamplinvocalacademy.com/

Exercises at 6:02 helps a lot! Thanks so much!
Glad it was helpful, Jeff!
I learn more about soccer than singing with Ken Tamplin haha
Cheers.
Dec, I look forward to your continued vocal growth and development!
I have over 900 videos on RUclips which cover a multitude of topics. Check them out.

There are many things to work on, Fania, one step at a time. KenTamplinVocalAcademy.com/ 😊
Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy thank you so much... I'll try to learn from all your videos.. :) I really like how you explain it
Omg, this video is so helpful. Thank you! 😊
Здравствуйте, пожалуйста сделайте русские субтитры🤗☺️
I'm gonna try this tomorrow again. But I feel although I have some mixed voice notes (b4 highest) I still have a little transition in this exercise. It seems pretty advanced. I feel you need to master head voice before you do this😭
When I started doing this it wasn't easy and after working on both chest and head voice there's only a small transition. I'm so happy 🙏😭💖
Can you make a separate video about vocal traning with guitar only
So cool! Are we doing the last note at head voice or light chest? Please I wanna know because these tips are so good! Thanks 🎶💓
Thanks for like.i feel a transition in I on lei that's more heady. How should I approach this? Thanks again.
