World Unearthed The body of the 'Lady be Good' is in a police station car park in Tobruk, Libya. An organisation based in Arkansas is trying to recover it
how is the Prinz Eugen not on this list? she was a German battlecruiser that survived the the entirety of ww2 and was given to the Americans. the Americans decided to use her for nuclear testing in operation crossroads. they nuked her twice, and she survived. they then towed her to kwajalein atoll, in which the ship that survived ww2 and two atomic bombings hit a bunch of rocks, capsized and sank. you can still see half the wreck out of the water.
The boat you see leaving the harbour in the beginning of the show is the Minnow. It was been restored and is in Vancouver, B.C. It's a beautiful boat, written up in the magazine, 'Wooden Boat." The other boats used in the show were props.
Kee Bird was destroyed by the APU breaking loose from her badly rusted mounts, which then flailed around in the tail, rupturing the fuel tanks which sprayed on the hot APU and caused the fire. It was a real tragedy considering that she was largely in perfect shape other than that after the engines and a few other minor things were replaced.

In the Java Sea English and Dutch war wrecks have disappeared off the seabed, and they even stolen the propellers from one of our cruisers! Why was a cofferdam needed for that wreck? (dry docks flood and then rise by the way) What was built there is a cofferdam. Maine was raised using that method just prior to WW1. - former shipbuilder.
They were concerned about what kind of waste they could find inside the wreck. Some talked about radioactive materials. The location and weather there made the coffer dam the best solution. Though, during construction, a winter storm took down the NW wall off the dam. Got delayed many months.
Saw the movie, William Shatner and Richard Basehart, were in it, Richard Baseharts character, was the sole survivor, of the plane and the ghosts of the crew were pissed off that he survived and they seriously messed with him
4:10 is Key West. I just moved from there a year ago and had been there for almost 7 years. The picture to my left was taken at a sandbar not to far from Key West.
The aircraft boneyards in Az serve another purpose you didn't mention kid; they're not just waiting , they're repairing. Aluminum gets microfractures over time in service and all aluminum planes must eventually take a break. In the dry air, bare aluminum will actually heal like skin. Those micro-fractures which could have caused a mid-air accident, exploding people out the hull, become as good as new after a few years in the sun as long as someone strips the paint beforehand.
i knew that expansion and contraction was what led to aforementioned micro-fractures but i had no idea it could repair its self due to the weather, thats pretty damn cool if its true
Jesus, how easy is it to lose an entire ship? The conversation with his boss probably was like "uhm sir, we lost the gigantic war ship that can be seen from eighteen freaking miles away" they were probably fired on the spot
what you play I know you think blood angels are fluffy but you haven't played my list probably shit know cause 8th but like all the special droughts I have will slaughter any shit an army can through at me
Saw the Russian ship lots of times in St.John's. It was bought to be refurbished but after a couple years tied up in St.John's it was infested with rats. The company who bought the ship also had financial problems, their tug was also seized becouse it was deemed unseaworthy by Canadian Standards. It was spotted off Ireland and was listing badly, and shortly after it eburd went off which means it probably sank.
The F-4U Corsair was originally intended asUS Navy carrier plane. It's landing speed was too high, was given to Marines for operation of land bases. "Whistlening Death" as the Japanese called it was a feared opponent to Zero pilots.
There are old geezers who fix up WW2 planes and fly them in airshows. Obviously, when you are doing maintenance on a 70 or 80 year old plane, there isn't anyplace you can call for parts. You have to repair the part you have, or make an entirely new part just like it in a machine shop which is crazy expensive. The third option is to try to salvage the part from another aircraft just like it, which is probably what they were referring to.
I find it so funny when old warships are painted in a green camouflage, I mean it's a ship that's in the ocean, it should of been a greyish blue camouflage
This is one of those channels that has a lot less subscribers than it should. It's only a matter of time though for it to blow up. Love your videos, keep up the great work.
Its a curious thing how we leave our military junk just littering the planet. What does this say about us? What would a tourist to this planet think of us?
I remember this ship well as we managed to find this isolated cliff and small beach created by the American Star on holiday to Fuerteventura in about 1998 it stood tall and straight then although broken in 2 :/

I dived on the Eugen in 1987. Really fantastic dive!
cruiser. not battlecruiser...
Prinz Eugen is a
Heavy Cruiser.
Its an Admiral Hipper Class, a Heavy Cruiser which sailed with the Bismarck on the Atlantic sea sinking cargo planes.
Enjoy hearing stories of old ships and airplanes. Cool vid
Of all the equipment on a warplane, they salvaged an armrest?
-Suburban- ikr
Its what washed up on shore not the one thing they salvaged
Robert Flores but why would they want to salvage a armrest of an old plane. That’s whats the original poster was trying to say
It's a "in memory of" type of thing
_Suburban_ yeah man I'm not sure how much I believe that lol
Great video I totally enjoyed it... Keep them coming...
You forgot the S.S. Minnow lost during a 3-hr tour!
Hahaha! X'''D
With Gillian the skipper too, a millionaire and his wife, a super star, the professor and mary Anne here on Gilligans island

Some one died if I remember correctly also that was in charge of repairing the plane.
it would still be an amazing museum piece if you could remove the wings and air lift it. Especially with a dark history like that.
4:39 is the victory flight over the USS Missouri after the surrender of Japan
I just discovered your site and subscribed (and checked the little bell thingie). Interesting stuff. I love your accent.
I worked on the Murmansk scrapping project. Moved a lot of rock to make that dry dock!

Your research and commentary makes this much more interesting. Thanks.
There was a good TV movie made around 1971 based on the Lady B. Good called Soul Survivor. In it the crew remained at the wreck as ghosts.
Saw the movie, William Shatner and Richard Basehart, were in it, Richard Baseharts character, was the sole survivor, of the plane and the ghosts of the crew were pissed off that he survived and they seriously messed with him
@@willielarimer7170 ...Might have to watch that I think. Good job folks. Sounds like a good flick :-)
Also watch the twilight zone episode called King 9 will not return, also based on the B24 the lady be good
it was fascinating to see the lengths one must take to dismantle a huge ship .as in that last case. good job. thank you for posting.
Awesome!!! Very nice job!! Keep going!! For a fan from Brazil!!!

Amazing video.
That’s so weird just thinking of an empty ship just floating in the ocean all alone
Ricky M a i n imagine a cruiser or a tanker going by wondering why the boat is idle like that trying to talk through radio 🤔 and nobody is there
Its actually not that uncommon. Ofc it's very rare but not thaaat rare. I mean thats how so called "ghost ships" work
Stuff like this is so cool! Thanx!

The P-47 got more use as a fighter-bomber in WWII than the Corsair.
misterjag Corsair was only used in Pacific not most used plane of ww2 at all
The F-4U Corsair was originally intended asUS Navy carrier plane. It's landing speed was too high, was given to Marines for operation of land bases. "Whistlening Death" as the Japanese called it was a feared opponent to Zero pilots.
The Royal Navy was the first to fly them off their carriers. The USN later had them as part of their Carrier Air Groups.
@@stalinium4769 he said most used "fighter bomber"....it was the most successful with an 11 to 1 kill ratio.

They tow ships out to international waters and just leave them there to float around?
If it hasn't been spotted in years, I think it sank. With the traffic on the oceans today, derelict ships are found sooner or later.
I was at the Murmansk ship before they made that dock around it:) it was quite stunning
I'm amazed by the lack of Prinz Eugen on here.
