disdainface Sucha true comment. Besides watching the Bulls back then, Thursdays were IT for me. The Bulls played 82 games though, and Thursdays were/are but once a week, so the anticipation for the Thursday primetime line up was worse!
I'm SO thankful to have grown up in an era where minority t.v shows were the REAL DEAL. Not these ridiculous reality tv shows on now..... Moesha, Living Single, Martin, Hangin wit Mr. Cooper, Kenan and Kel, Family Matter, Sister Sister, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Different World, New York Undercover, The Jamie Fox show, In the House (LL Cool J tv show) etc, etc , etc........I truly enjoyed growing up with them.

Its like we are being mind fucked when we watch shows like the Kardashian's and Love and Hip Hop...Where/What are these peoples talents????? We sure did! There will never be another lineup like that for a long time. Ever! And you're right about Queen Latifah giving Martin Lawrence props like that. Back then, that's what you did. Today's new generation is so egotistical and self centered and nobody wanna give respect and props to the ones that came before them.

Living Single and Martin, 2 of my favorite shows. Living single was so underrated as a show and it really was a great show.
As a Latin American I was grateful that I grew up on Martin, Different world, Cosby, Living single, Fresh prince, etc .. Thanks to all the black and Latinos that made those shows stay in the air for as long as they did!!!!

Watching those shows, A different world, Living Single, Martin Lawrence was true comedy at its best. It was the epitome of black comedic culture or the black experience . Generations later, I still enjoy watching them😂😂😂

I listened to Richard Pryor, Cheech and Chong and George Carlin in the 4th grade! 😂🤣😂 I listened to Cheech and Chong with the little boys down the street my age and my sister's age. One time I laughed so hard I peed!!! 😂 I remember bringing the George Carlin album to school for "Show and Tell"! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 My teacher wouldn't let me play it for the class. That was hilarious! Imagine a little girl listening to Richard Pryor, George Carlin and Cheech and Chong!!! They're still my favorites even today!
Truly The Martin Show was definitely one of my favorites. So incredibly creative. Also loved Living Single. Looked forward to those shows every Thursday Night 😀😀😀 He's so underrated IMO an definitely one of the best for me. If not for Def Comedy Jam a lot of major comedians wouldn't have had such an incredible platform like Chris Tucker.. Shout out to Russell Simmons 👍

What’s interesting about Martin’s statement regarding the line he wouldn’t cross is that I recall hearing a black comedian doing a Muhammad Ali joke that was hilarious yet not overtly disrespectful of the legend. The sketch was about the old and new Muhammad Ali, and how he missed the old version. I forget the name of the black comedian, but the sketch was hilarious!
