Just had an abscess removed this morning, most painful thing ever but the relief was instant thank you dr Vik for hinting at the problem with this video
I had this and thought it was just strep throat but then suddenly i could barely speak or open my mouth like you had said in the video and i had gotten scared. A day later my throat actually created a puncture like you had did with the needle and a bunch of pus came out. I made sure to spit everything out and i used a q-tip to push along the sides to get the rest out, after that i just gargled some warm lemon and salt water. Hopefully this doesn’t happen again but if i does i’ll be sure to get it professionally removed.
it certainly isn't something I would wish on anyone. on saying that it seems to be getting more common now that we aren't taking out so many tonsils these days
@@VikVeerENTSurgeon I'm 65, and had them out at 7. I agree that it's less common now. In the US people seem to only have them out if they cause problems for the person. I understand why -- no unnecessary surgery. I'm still glad I don't have those two little glands that cause so much pain.
I talk about this in my new book (due to be released). two quinsy abscesses would be reason enough to have your tonsils removed according to the guidance.

Sixty years ago my parents had tonsils and adenoids removed from myself and my siblings, assembly line style. Seeing this, I think I'm glad.

I had my tonsils and uvula removed in my mid 60s. Also had sinus surgery at same time. Pretty rough recovery!

Why not do a tonsillectomy as prophylaxis to future infection?
