Do you know how to sketch on a canvas? I got commissioned to do a couple Portraits of Pat on a couple different canvases , but normal sketching techniques don't work the same on campus and i'm having a hard time. 😢 should I paint the canvas first to fill in those tiny gaps/bumps/grooves or is there a different technique? Edit: not commissioned (that requires getting paid) my very close friend asked me to for there husband's birthday and I (like the nice but not smart) friends that I am said "Sure! I'll be glad to!" 😅😫
Thats really hard especially if ur using Graphite pencil, If i couldnt convince them to do it on paper...i would prime the canvas with white or clear gesso, or maybe not bcoz gessos are very expensive.....lol!
@BMDPortraits I have honestly never used gesso 😳 didn't even know what it was. Had to Google it lol I never got to take art in school except for freshman year in high school. I just started drawing/painting and sculpting because I was really good at random doodles lol thank you very much for the help! I do apologize in advance for any future dumb questions I may have 😁 and I hope you have a wonderful day!!
