      You mean a full scale Aeronca? My buddy has one but it's been grounded for years after it failed the wing spar inspection AD! I understand there's a metal replacement spar that's been approved but it's something north of 10k....maybe someday!

    That Spitfire looks really great. Beautifully trimmed as well. Only a master practitioner of the noble art of free flight scale could get it to fly like that. Take a bow Gentlemen! Great to see a new video. I know some other people were getting really great performance out of capacitor planes and they were charging over recommended voltage. Last summer I took out an Estes capacitor plane and another plane using the same the electric. The charger that it came with uses 3 - AAA cells. That would be 4.5 volts. Well these planes that gave a fair performance 20 years ago, barely flew now. Do you think it was from charging over voltage or capacitors degrade over time or both?

    • @sonex413
      @sonex413  4 года назад

      I'm not sure about the caps going bad, we haven't seen anything like that...so far, they have been tolerating our "abuse" pretty well! Are you sure the old plane used a capacitor? Some of the really old electrics (like Mattel's "Superstar") used nicads and I would believe they go bad....Stay safe, Bill, good to hear from you!

    • @billkuhl442
      @billkuhl442 4 года назад

      @@sonex413 capacitor for sure, other people thought that charging at so much over voltage was really hard on capacitor. You will get a laugh out of this short video of me getting a one dollar rubber model out of a small tree ruclips.net/video/enuNZ_vBldw/видео.html

    The spit is great flyer, yo should teach us how you trim her to fly, wahsin, woshout, rigth trust, left trust?

    • @sonex413
      @sonex413  4 года назад

      Thanks!! I will try to discuss the setup and trim in more detail in future videos. The Spit has a few degrees of down thrust and a few degrees of side thrust...the aircraft is as straight and flat as I could make it. All I did was put in a bit of left rudder trim. It flies well to the left, but when I originally set it up to fly to the right, it would turn into a right spiral!

  • @TFWS6
    @TFWS6 3 года назад

    Love it! I wonder if you could use some graphite from a pencil to lubricate the shaft on the BD-5?

    • @sonex413
      @sonex413  3 года назад

      That might help, but if I try it again I'll use some tiny ball bearings I found from a junk micro servo!

  • @daveday5507
    @daveday5507 3 года назад

    If you fly to the left the turn will open up as the charge runs down. If yo fly to the right the turn will tighten as the charge runs down. I think flying to the right is better.

    • @sonex413
      @sonex413  3 года назад

    Dropping a wing to make your plane circle is a poor way to trim your flights. I would be more impressed is you attained wider circling with no appreciable drop in that left wing. Just my opinion. Other wise kudos.

    Why bother putting landing gear on the Spitfire? It only causes drag, adds more weight and if you want longer flights get rid of them.
