- Asparagus is one of the first plants that greets us in springtime! It’s a perennial, which means that once it gets established, the tender spears will return year after year.
Asparagus can be grown in most temperate regions, but grows more robustly in cooler areas with long winters. The edible part of the asparagus plant is the young stem shoot, which emerges as soil temperatures rise above 50°F (10°C) in spring.

Fascinating! When I first moved to The Netherlands, I had never tried to cook white asparagus before. I prepared a nice amount of it and served it to my guests...they were polite and said nothing. My Dutch husband was the one to tell me that it must be peeled first! Hello from Enkhuizen!

@@DS-ve8rv Это прекрасный овощ, но его нужно уметь готовить. Я готовлю на сливочном масле с добавление чеснока. А в сочетании с ржаным хлебом объедение.
@@DS-ve8rvчтобы есть. Чистить- нужно руку набить. Отваривать быстро. Классика: молодая картошка, вареное яйцо, спаржа, Полито все растопленным сливочным маслом.

The belts in the factory seem to run exceedingly fast for those workers. I bet the workers are tired when their day shift ends.
While in Europe many years ago I made a hog of myself eating the white asparagus in a restaurant in Belgium .... I ate so much the owner gave me a FREE plate of french fries to go with the third order.

Absolutely love green asparagus. I was bought up on it many years ago. Not too sure of the white asparagus as I have never eaten or seen it here in New Zealand.
