its not just a beauty pageant its a scholarship pageant and a contest for a model young american woman, but your right its not even a pagent anymore, but at least the courts ruled that they can keep it natural born women no confused indaviduals, though all deserve to be loved as children of God and not bullied. at least they stll have the talent portion which was my favorite part anyway, though its astheticly nice to see a lady in a nice gown, or formalware not enough dress up anymore, not like we used to even in the 1990's
Wow, look at that huge crowd. This was back when watching Miss America was a big family event. We would gather around the TV with popcorn and soft drinks and cheer for our own state contestant who won. Now you have to pay $30.00 to watch on a pageant network. Sad.
Thank you so much for posting pageants of yesteryear. I have never missed a one since 1961, when Nancy Anne Fleming passed the crown on to Maria Beale Fletcher, Miss America 1962.
Betty Buckley!! She was the step mom on Eight Is Enough. She was also the gym coach in Carrie. She was in the movie Split. The psychiatrist. Oh, she was the lead in the Broadway version of Cats!
Guess what? This very show was, for a variety of complex reasons, THE VERY SUDDEN END OF SQUARE FASHION ON NATIONAL TV, with the end of "To Tell the Truth" the day before... I was seven months old but I paid attention to everything in those days, and my later research shows this was indeed it.
Judy is from the town next to mine, and she married a guy who lived a block away, my brother's friend Tom Johnson's bro. We were all very thrilled to have Miss America and Janet Lynn in our neighborhood. Also, Cheap Trick is from this neighborhood. Rick's parents had their music shop a few blocks from Judy's in-laws.
I saw you being crowned in Atlanta City I was there for the whole week. Was very happy you won
Thank you for posting this! I love Judith Ford because I watched some of her clips. I found her very stunning.
Judi Ford gymnastic performance was fantastic. Her reaction to winning was very moving.
Beautiful women. Every one of them.
No flies on Bert Parks, he was a smoothie! HE was the face of the pageant, which was never the same without him. Today's pageant is a joke.
So classy. Audience all dressed classy loved the opener. Suitcases. So cute
I love pageants from the 60s and the 70s. Today isn’t even a beauty pageant pageant anymore
So true

You are so right. I went to the pageant for 30 some years never missed Loved Bert Parks
My Dad never cared much for Miss America but always talked about the Judy Ford performance.

Judi Ford deserved bonus points for not losing her hairpiece during her talent presentation which was fantastic.

I enjoy your channel very much!!
Miss New York should have been in the top 5 at least.
Times have changed. Judi Ford was on the President's Fitness Council, but is the only winner I know who openly smoked cigarettes!
I was going to make that comment too
OMG!!!!! Miss America smoking cigarettes?????!!!!! Then again, they're human beings just as the rest of us are. :) :)
We had just bought our first color tv that year
During this my uncle and his squad was getting shot at in the rice patties of Vietnam. Sargent. Heckman 9th infantry 5 battalion 60th regiment.
Its great, fascinating and sickening at the same time.
At 1:21:30, as Miss Tennessee is introduced, Bess Myerson says "I have nothing now!" Missing cue or index cards?
No tattoos. No nose rings. No purple or pink hair. Anyone got a Time Machine?
Maravilhosas ❤❤❤

The women's liberation shouting during Debra's outgoing speech.
Pretty rude and intolerant on the part of the protesters. There’s a time and a place for everything. This was not it.
Amazing these young women were only in their late teens or early twenties but looked like mature women in their 30s and 40s.
Times sure have changed.
I know. Miss America was only age 18.
The hairstyles and dresses.
Whats up with that audience commotion at 1:49:27???
That was the women's lib protesters.
@@VTMCompany Thought so, thanks
@@VTMCompany Angry, overweight lesbians then; Angry, overweight lesbians now.
@@HC-cb4yp 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
That was so dumb to carry the case again.
Poor Miss Alabama, having to go on with a bland piano recital right after Miss Illinois's electrifying gymnastics show.
Judy Ford was my sister's high school friend
There was nothing bland about it.

@@lisapalmeno4488 Where are you in Illinois? Close to Chicago?
@@Love_and_Truth yes, Rockford, Illinois.
By 1968 these type of clothes were meant for women in their 30s and 40s.
Lip sync is hilarious
