One look at the singer's face, and I thought, "These guys are from the British Isles." (They're from Ireland.) And there's something about the extreme, desperate intensity of the music that reinforces that. In the US, a guy who had that much that NEEDED to be said would be a rapper, not the singer of a rock band. But over there, rock can still matter.
