Excellent video, I probably became a medieval historian thanks to Rievaulx. Living in what was then Burgundy I’ve had the chance to visit Cîteaux and Clairvaux. We also have lots of abbeys here that were either destroyed by the revolution (Citeaux) or reformed and repurposed as parish churches (Romainmotier). I agree with your contributor that the abbey was most likely to come to an end at some point. It’s remote location would have most likely precluded use as a parish church. Thanks for the video.
Aelred is a consecrated saint - I don't appreciate modern heathens smearing his name and calling him a pagan who violated his vows of celibacy & accusing him of degrading his monastery into a den of iniquity
