Can you interchange the beef and chicken ?

Yes, you can definitely switch from one to another. It also depends on what your dog likes. Your dog may like one more than the other.

considering this or air dried.. not sure just yet. There is still this dilemma: grain or grain free. I personally think grains aren't supposed to be for dogs but am afraid to remove it from my dog's food since grains like rice have been integrated since forever in dog food. So.. grain or no grain?

It honestly comes down to your preference. Grains don't really have any nutritional value for dogs because when have you ever seen a wolf eat rice? Of course, rice can be good for an upset stomach, but it's something you don't want to always feed your dog. Humans shouldn't eat a lot of rice either. Dogs are omnivores, so they need meat and veggies. Some dogs might have a grain allergy, so owners may want to buy grain-free food. Grains also have a lot of sugars, like rice, so there could be health concerns as well. Olaf is on a raw food diet, so we don't deal with grains or anything artificial.

@@theoandolaf thanks for your reply! I totally agree on the no grains approach but why do Vets recommend dog food with grains for "avoiding" heart issues? I have been feeding my dog this crap for too long (even vet reputable brands like HILLS contain soy and SUGAR and corn and lots of bad ingredients) - trying to move away from the kibble crap but it feels impossible to navigate through this food industry (sooo many options. soooo many brands... each promises amazing quality). Wanting to transition to lightly cooked but am concerned about finding a brand that covers full nutrition profile needed for a dog.

@@ElaScurt Unfortunately, many vets are told to promote these popular food brands, which is awful. I've been told by vets that raw food has zero benefits for dogs and certain brands, like Hills and Purina, are good choices. However, there are some vets who will say that fresh food is good and kibble is bad. It all depends on the vet. On these dog food bags, you'll often see a "Vet Recommended" label on the front. That's a huge red flag. All you have to do is look at the first 5 ingredients. That'll tell you all you need to know. Are there meals in the food? Are there by-products? Are there "natural flavors"? Are there a ton of fillers? Are there meats that don't tell you which animal or animal part it is? Kibble is highly cooked food where all the nutrients are destroyed and filled with preservatives and an addictive coating that makes pets crave more. When it comes to lightly cooked or fresh foods, you might have to add in more vitamins separately, but those would be better options than whatever vets recommend.

Feeding same food twice a day? nothing else added? (supplements. oils, extra meat)?

Olaf has a number of supplements that we add to his meals, such as daily vitamins, probiotics, and omega oils. We also like to add in mussels and other healthy ingredients into his food. Olaf used to be really picky, so we'd have to make his food look even better, but he'll eat anything now.

Its all freeze dried, which is horrible or dogs teeth, its like eating mush. There is nothing like raw actual meat and bones for dogs, not freeze dried mush. very unappetising for a dog. Its cheaper to buy raw human grade hearts, bones, meat and fish then this. Will give dreadful plaque. Horrible.

Really sorry you feel that way. Everyone certainly has their own preference and that's totally fair, but maybe there's a bit of a misunderstanding. Olaf does find his food appetizing and his teeth are really good. The food isn't mush. It's not defrosted food that turns soggy. The food is pretty firm and has a crunch to every bite. Olaf loves it and he's very happy and healthy.

This food is actually crunch, more similar to kibble but either way, that's actually a myth. If you think about it - meat isn't rough/ abrasive so a fresh raw diet wouldn't be helpful in the way you think it was. You can google/ reddit it.
