My hack for jewelry (that I learned forever ago from I don't know where) Is to take a hand towel, and roll a necklace in it the long way. Once the necklace is rolled in the towel, add another and continue the roll for as many as you need. Close the ends off with hair elastics and you are all set. Always worked for me!

a (in my opinion) better jewelry trick for travel is using the empty box for organizing screws from the hardware store (the one with dividers) or a weekly pill box for you to put your jewelry in the individual spaces (for chunkier jewelry use the screw boxes with removable dividers)
Also, whenever I was sick my mom sung me soft kitty and when she was sick I'd sing it to her and it made us feel better faster so it's just a suggestion I think that you Hailee should sing it to Kendra to help her make her feel better faster. Regarding the pre-perfumed clothes, if you put a couple spritz in the sealed bag, you get clothes with the perfume and not have to take the perfume bottle which eliminates the risk of it leaking in your bag.

I have to put my two cents in. What I do for all of my electronic cables is to isolate them into small sandwich bags, and I would suspect that you can do the same thing for jewelry. While the individual pieces of jewelry themselves might get tangled, they would at least be isolated from other pieces of jewelry. Hope this helps.

Whilst there are better dedicated solutions, the trash bag cover over your luggage is more to tell you if it has been opened than to protect it. The bag will tear very easily though, so if it's going through airport procedures, it will get shredded. A dedicated one will be much more resilient.
