On our way to the Mediterranean! [Ep. 3]

- After four years in the boatyard following her tragic accident, Magic Carpet sets sail once again! Now that she can float, we transported her to Basel, Switzerland, where we will start the long canal journey through France out to the Mediterranean.
I didn't have as much time to make this episode, because we're still frantically doing last minute preparations for the canal journey. However, I hope it's still enjoyable -- the spectacular sight of a Vindo 32 under sail is usually enough to capture a boat lover's attention!

Love from Maya, Aladino, and Magic Carpet
That is sooo sweet the previous owner got to see her! I love that story
You on my turf. Awesome. What a great boat. High 5
Magic Carpet is the most immaculately beautiful sailboat I've seen in a long time. The wooden finished deck and varnished companionway is perfect.
Don’t mind me, apparently I’m binge watching lol. 😎⛵️😎⛵️😎
I like your way of Story telling 👍🏼
Dive Monster thank you very much, this comment means a lot to me!
@@SailingMagicCarpet pleaaaasee write a book! You speak like an author. Love from Galveston Island, Texas, United States. Stop here some day, and I'll stock your boat with fresh provisions/ and take yall out to town and to my restauraunt!
@@SailingMagicCarpet I agree and your singing
Beautiful mermaid!
You are a great story teller. Love the video and your excitement.
You guys pick the coolest music!
I've been watching a few of your latest videos so I had to go back and start from the beginning to get the history of the boat. Aladino has done an amazing job on the Vindo 32. Such beautiful lines and a very worthy cause to restore. I know that Maya came in towards the end of the project and she compliments Magic Carpet and Aladino marvelously and of course she is so much more than a pretty face because with out her, we wouldn't have had these wonderful videos documenting the entire endeavor. It's great to see the younger generation working so hard to realize their dreams. Like you, I am an avid fan of Delos, La Vagabonde and others. And now I can ad SMC to that list. I am inspired! Well done, keep up the good work!
my hope is my daughter lives a life of adventure like yours. Best wishes from Canada
... new to Magic Carpet ... she's a beautiful vessel ... guess I'm gonna be binging for a while ...
So I just started following you guys the story about three or four months ago. This is the first time I’ve watched this video where you guys actually got to sell her for the first time. The smile on Aladino’s face is absolutely awesome. You can just tell that he’s so happy to actually be sailing this work of art he has labored on for over four years now, and seeing his work come to life that joy comes out in his face as he’s sailing in this first video.
Aw yes he had many reasons to be proud on that day!! Thank you so much for watching and for commenting Johnny! -Maya
I just found you a few days ago and also needed to go back an see the beginning. What a great story and saving a fine sailing boat. Thanks for video documenting the rebuild and beginning of your new adventures.
You guys are great, keep it up 👍
Glad too hear about your adventures. I live 44 miles from the center of North America. 40 miles from Canada.
Loving it.
Impressive work guys well done greetings from California
Just found your adventures by chance and love what your both enjoying and sharing with us . 😎
Great videos,, fantastic story teller . I look forward to more stories!
The old owners must be thrilled knowing she lives to sail again. Our vessels have their own identity and soul. The loss of a vessel is actually heartbreaking. It's like losing a member of the family. Bravo for keeping her alive!!!
Cheers from Seattle!
I posted before seeing the part where the previous owner came to see her floating again. I love that...
That boat looks better than it did. Seriously.
Gah! So so exciting! Thanks for your fab vids x The boat looks fabulous - well done!!
Finally one vindø FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVEN I GET A TEAR IN MY EYE 😢 mine is a vindø 30 (30ft) 1967 very old, for now...... 😁 will be like new soon 😉 , please more videos PLEASE
Awww :) more videos coming right up!!
She is absolutely gorgeous great work and Thank you for bringing her back to life
Just love your life story ... Thus far..... 😊 admire your music & instrumental interludes, I saw CURLEW VIDEO quite some time ago & loved your tenacity & learning abilities when it came to overhauling that engine... Your Dad is so cool ..
I'm having a 'corona V' lock down 'magic carpet fest day' & lovin it... ...
A good architect designs a house to please the owner as they approach it. I forget what the term is. Not curb appeal. Something else. Whatever... Magic Carpet has it. I can imagine walking up the pier, seeing her, then all the stress of the day just melts away. Well done, guys. You rescued a gem.
Just started watching your story.... great videos! Much love from Mexico
Great job!
Nice music in the videos !!
you have made a wonderful job of restoring Vindo 32. I love your commentary, and the photography is good too. The most watchable channel on RUclips!

Just inadvertently found you and U-Tube and enjoy your videos.
I do like your videos. Keep them coming.
Thoughtful to have the previous owner there for the launch. It is almost like Magic Carpet broke the trailer on purpose when she saw the crane! I’m glad you were able to persevere to get her safely in the water.

What a beautiful boat. Your ability to tell your story is remarkable and taste in music is excellent.
steering a tractor with a broken axle using a 2x4? Pretty sure there is nothing Aladino can't do. Talk about dedication. Very impressive work on this sailboat!
Love the in you guys vedios
This boat is the perfect size for me AND I have an extra dollar! :-)
Good stuff
Alidino is a intelligent man to be able to fix such a disaster. Well done man. Keep living the dream. Your journey has started. We all wish what you are doing we could do when we retire.
Thank you for this and all of your other kind comments on our videos!
Caramba What a woman especial
Wow you could make an easy living singing!
Travel from bar to hall to city center and put out a hat you would do great! Fantastic sound!
I'm so proud of you for rescuing this boat; you did a fantastic job. I've spent a lot of winters in Switzerland, it's nice to see the summer months are just as beautiful.

She's beautiful, remarkable recovery. Thank You
Fantastic, a joy to watch.👍
Vindo 32 honestly I guessed before I saw this! Cheers warren
Hi you two- I've been sailing 50 yrs (where did that go!) built a lot of boats big and small and still work with big ones. I've watched a lot of Vlogs on sailing and most are a bit smug (can I say that?) yes they are.. a bit too self congratulating (ok why not). Anyway yours is not as you are just 'you' are great story tellers without trying to be someone else. They are very informative too. I started watching the last third but am hooked enough to start at the beginning. I look forward to the journeys ahead and will be doing the same journey very soon (from UK.south). You are doing a great job entertaining us - so go on be a little smug yourselves .. you've earned it! Thanks.
Love your videos...you guys are just awesome!
Your narrative and enthusiasm are infectious...makes me want to sail away now, but I can't, following you two for now...favorable winds!
I hope you can one day too! It took us about 4-5 years of dreaming and working very hard before we could sail away either.
Sailing Magic Carpet I know, if you see my videos you can.see how lucky you guys are and how much more work I have, but Italy here I come ...cheers!
Sail Oria complete refit We certainly feel fortunate! It took four years of (mostly Aladino's) work, but here we are. Best wishes to you on your lovely project! I hope we see each other out sailing when your boat is completed!
Really love the videos. You guys are great and this is a great adventure.
Beautiful boat!
Perfect...By far the most inspirational cruising vlog there is...addicted!

I'm launching a Contessa 26 in a few months that i've been restoring last 3 years and now i'm going to have nightmares about them dropping my beautiful boat during launching. Good to see a sailing channel that isn't all T&A. All the best to you both.
CO26 Sailing A contessa 26! Amazing!! Best wishes to you on your journey!
great job you two.
Awesome that the original owner got to see her live again and floating :D
Meh sorry taken so long to watch these, I seen your first couple episodes back when first published but never got around to subscribing and watching the rest until now.
I know nothing about floating vessels but I am wanting to build a tiny house BUT I have always been fascinated with yachts and boats want to use some of the features and items from them.. I think she is beautiful and its like you have given her a Soul.Congratulations to you both.. Safe travels always.... Did you know Tiny Houses on Wheels are nicknamed "Land yachts" WHAT A THRILL! to finally sail her after all that work and effort..so exciting..
That's a beautiful boat but I'm not envious of you when it's time to sand and polish 🤣❤✌🏻
..just subscribed.. What a beautiful boat! He did a wonderful job! Looking forward to following along!
Congratulations! All your hard work is finally paying off. The boat looks beautiful. Thanks for another great video! I'm looking forward to seeing your new adventure!
Richard Wilson thank you so much Richard! We really appreciate you following along! We are also looking forward to the adventure ahead
You are fantastics!, enjoy!
Loving your channel. Binge watching! You’re a remarkable communicator. How special that the previous owner rocked up. An important emotional connection to the boat’s former life. Please could you tell us why you’ve registered Magic Carpet in The Netherlands? Go well ... 👍🥇
Roy Clare Thank you so so much. We may even do a separate FAQ video on the flag thing... everyone is so curious! It's basically a flag of convenience. The Netherlands has very little bureaucracy and it is a simple, cheap, and straightforward flag to register. The Swiss flag is infinitely more complicated, and the Canadian flag has some restrictions for long term cruising around Europe. Plus, i liked it better than other flags of convenience, like cayman islands or panama. My family is all Dutch on my Dad's side and I still have a lot of relatives in Amsterdam who I visit, so there's a connection there.
Man i can event put toothpaste on the brush properly, this is insane! Beautiful i am so happy for you a fan
That's gotta feel good!!! love ya guys!!! Be safe out there
-Ster
Rinkus _ it sure does! And we’ll stay safe 💙 big love!

wonderful video all the hard work has paid off.
Wow how exciting for you both enjoy and great videos.
Are you a Ravensdaughter? Anyway, beautiful singing.
Beautiful video as well, the narratives, body language & vivid facial expression flowed so natural as the water you sail or about to.
Kudos
