I have turned some Chardonnay hating friends around with Adelaide Hills examples.One of my favourites is the Pike and Joyce `Kay Reserve' which I enjoyed at the winery minus the fog.Would love to see you have a look at the Clare Valley which aside from their Riesling doesn't get much attention as a region.
Maybe a daft question but how does Adelaide hills compare with Margaret river for Chardonnay? I prefer the buttery style of woodlands but also love xanadu and leeuwins, what’s your fave out of what you saw?
Adelaide Hills does not have the depth of quality that Margaret River does. The TapanappanTiers, and the Penfolds Reserve Bin are the best wines in the area. Margaret river has a higher concentration of great producers and wines.
The Prieure Roch wines. That’s right. I tasted the wines and shot the video, however I was so disappointed by the abundant faults that I thought it more sensible not to publish, as it would be a negative review. There is so much to cover that is positive, do we need negative reviews? The faults obscured the terroir, and that is a great shame in my book.
Great stuff. I trued a Tappanappa Chard once & it wasn’t even their top one you tasted here & I loved it. Did you happen to sample any of the Natural Wines of Chardonnay whilst there? That is the other exciting thing about Adelaide Hills being the home of the Australian Natural Wine movement. Or are these style of wines not your thing?
Tapanappa Tiers 1.5m Chardonnay also a very nice drop for a little less money! Great review thanks Erin.

Yum yum. Also tried the Heirloom vineyard the other day. Australian Chardonnay has come a long way!

Love Clare Valley. Riesling, Shiraz and Grenache, and a collection of Australian cult/icon producers there: Wendouree, Grosset, Jim Barry etc

Absolutely Jeff - wine is my thing, so of course that includes natural wine. I haven’t tried the wine you speak of yet!
