All blacks and Springboks have a unique rivalry. Lots of history together that involves politics, protests and lots of quality rugby. For decades both teams were keeping the game alive, especially before the game turned professional. There's big respect between both teams and both sets of fans show it to each other. Both countries are one of the few that has rugby as it's number one sport and has been for manys years. I like to see the Springboks win against other teams but that's because they have been strong competitors and produced quality rugby for NZ people to watch and enjoy for many generations.

Hi team. Good show. Just one comment on NZ defense. When most people say their defense isn’t that great, and they people watch pretty much all the time, no line speed etc… I guess I watching it differently. I don’t think anyone can argue that NZ has always been, by far, the best at instantly transitioning defensive into attack. I don’t think a super aggressive line speed suits them for a very simple reason. it leaves your back line ahead of the breakdown if you disrupt their ball, then your strike players have to get back on side in order to strike. This way they can defend well without having to expend sh*t tons of energy every single phase running shuttles back and forth. Then wait for the right time to go for a turnover. And there can’t be a coincidence that, more than any other team, most of the time when they transition defensively to attack, they know exactly where to strike on a turnover because they’re taking notes of their opponents positioning. In my mind this for 2 reasons. They back themselves to hold teams out even if it’s rush dominance, then give up three points if it’s near their line, In order to get a turn over. Then, by previously being player focused on defense, they know exactly where to strike immediately. Anyway, not saying your point of view is wrong, what do I know, but just how I see it. The difference at the moment is that this NZ team is not at its usual peak. Nice work boys.

Yeah what NZ did at cricket in India a couple of days ago was a bigger achievement than what Ireland did they beat NZ 2-1 we beat India 3-0 the first time they have ever been whitewashed in a 3 match test series at home by any country if Ireland had won 3-0 then it would've been right up there beating India 3-0 in India is like beating the ABs 3-0 in NZ
At the WC NZ scrum coach Greg Feeke said in an article that he watched 100's of hours looking for a weakness in the Ireland scrum, the outcome of that was a word from NZ to Wayne Barnes to watch out for Porter not scrummaging straight, clearly the multiple penalties against Porter had an impact on the result. Small details to swing a game
geoffnelson6756 You would of lost either way goofball lol y’all are cocky for no reason 😂 check the receipts kid numbers don’t lie Over emotional ego tripping leprechauns do
@Trajan2401 Rubbish, how can 'it' catch up with him, playing for club and Country with numerous referees if he was repeatedly doing something illegal it would get picked up regularly, I searched Google for Porter and scrummaging and hey presto Eddie Jones tried the same ploy in the 6 nations just a few years ago, also Mike Ross and Alex Corbisiero both said Porter was not at fault and should have won at least 2 of the scrum penalties, refs just look for certain markers and if something is highlighted then that will attract his focus, it was a gamesmanship masterclass by NZ and potentially swung the game.
England lofting a high ball from a free kick inside the AB"s 22 sums up the impotence of the English attack. I cant understand why they did not just tap and go and keep possession for a few phases to try and get over the line. Their attack looked good against Ireland and France last 6 Nations. Now they have reverted to penalty kicks and drop goal attempts. The wonderful try they scored came about fortuitously from an intercept. Otherwise they never threatened the AB's try line. If you are relying on penalties and drop goals you will lose 9 times out ten against the AB's.
@@tvpc3194NZ too busy kicking ass in other sports you see on the international scene we can change channels from one sport to another since we are strong in all our main sports 😁 🇳🇿
After the 2nd World Cup win in a row the All Blacks began the long process of rebuilding, some players retired some went overseas to play, since then we have lost lots of games, including first losses to Ireland and Argentina, the reality is Ireland have a great side right now, and should win the upcoming game as I believe they are the better side, atm. Great teams take time to build, Ireland would really put their stamp on their greatness by winning the next World Cup, and then they will experince what all other great teams that rebuild experience.

They like to hark on about winning the series in NZ yet NZ achieved something even bigger a couple of days ago when they whitewashed India at cricket 3-0 in India which no other country has ever done its equivalent to beating the All Blacks 3-0 in NZ you won't see us going on about that as much as the irish winning in NZ
The Southern Hemisphere will always rate themselves first. It's just a hangover from being the 'New' World boys. If the kiwis and Saffas tried a few different sports, they might not be so cocky. Lol. I think as an Irish fan, with vast majority of our folks involved in GAA and Soccer, I think we are well in the conversation over past 5-10 years as a top 3 team and in reality, there is nothing between anyone of SA, NZ, IRE and FRA on a given day, ENG coming back into the fold and ARG & AUS not far behind. Should be a great game, I reckon it will be very close, but yeah. ill go Ireland by 2/3 points.
Haha “are these just two poor teams” maybe a World Cup finalist and semi finalist, something I know Irish pundits arent too familiar with given their wcs end fairly quickly

It's a clickbait title to generate views and engagement in this comment section to pump up the algorithm. It's RUclips 101. Nobody in Ireland is sat here thinking this is a great rivalry, I mean there's some recent beef which is great but Ireland have really only been at this level for a few years. The fact so many SH rugby fans came here to post these comments (without watching this podcast no doubt) and got so offended smacks of their arrogance. I mean how dare they suggest this, don't they know who we are?! We've won eleventy million world cups and being rank number one doesn't actually matter (unless Ireland lose then it'll suddenly start to matter again). Are there actual hordes of Irish fans commenting in SA rugby podcasts? I doubt it.

And when you play SA you say thats the biggest rivalry 😂 so what is it NZ or SA or both 😁 SA are our main rivals in rugby and Australia are our main rivals in all sports always has been. What people seem to forget is that England are no mugs they beat Ireland and only lost by 1 against SA the last time.As for the NZ v England game it would've been a travesty if England had won 3 tries and a disallowed try v 1 gifted try that came from an offside position
I want us to go back to number 1. I will be rooting for the All Blacks, even though I know that Ireland is going to defeat them. But the All Blacks tend to take it a notch up when they play against formidable opposition.
SA are probably the best but So far ahead of anyone else? 😂 you wouldnt lose to Argentina if you are so far ahead you are supposed to have depth and wouldnt win the world cup by only 1 against 13-14 players for an hour if you were so far ahead
When your number 1 in the world everyone wants to be your rival😅😅😅😅 what a joke...... everyone wants to beat the ABs they are the bench mark for rugby ...the ABs live rent free in Irish heads.
If South Africa were so far ahead of all the rest Joe, then they'd have won their home series 2-0 against an Irish side full of injuries. Yes they won the world cup, but how you can say they are far ahead of the rest when they struggle so much against Ireland is crazy.
If Ireland were so great they would be able to crack a semi. How can Ireland be the best when their "golden generation" progressed no further than any other Irish side in the RWC.
@@sandorclegane3658 In the grand scheme of things though that is one game that they lost. I'm not even advocating that Ireland are the best, I take issue with the idea that South Africa are so far ahead. All three of their knockout games were won by one point. One score less in any of those games and no one would be saying this stuff. There is more to rugby than the world cup and if Ireland do finally make it past a quarter final and God forbid maybe even win a world cup then it'll be interesting to see what everyone's excuse is then.
@@liamwilliams6651" just a knockout competition" "three one point wins" first, the RWC is literally what every rugby nation builds for, plays and aspires to win. Second, three one point wins all back to back, while taking the hardest route to the cup is nothing less than astounding. It showed immense grit, strength of mind and character, and I dare to say we will probably never see a more impressive feat. By your logic the six nations is just a round robin, big deal, and three of the teams, Scotland, wales and Italy, are hardly what anybody would describe as strong competition.
@@sandorclegane3658 Well done putting words in my mouth. Never said it was just a knockout competition. It is the pinnacle of the sport. But there's more to rugby than just 6 weeks every 4 years and knockout rugby doesn't always result in the best team winning and I'd argue round Robins usually do. The best team has actually rarely ever won the world cup I'd argue. Otherwise NZ would have won the majority of them. Some nerve to talk about Scotland, Italy and Wales like that when Australia and Argentina are the competition in the RC. All NZ have to do is beat SA and they have the competition in the bag.
@@liamwilliams6651 you're deluded as are most Irish fans and pundits. Barely even a tier one nation to be fair. Who would you rather face in a final, wales, Scotland, Italy or Australia, Argentina lmfao.
Christ with the dismissal of number 1 We beat saf in w cup. Lost to n.z by an inch. Beat saf in saf The dismissal of world number 1...is irritating. Sure world cup is more important but you can't do that through the years. There is an exagerated dismissal of number 1..... having supported ireand in 80s and 90s enjoy it...celebrate it. Pundits in this country were alongside 1 or 2 rules changes out biggest weaknesses in '19. Still havent matured to us being a top world rugby team. Team has, thankfully
While I don’t think the world rankings are everything, the dismissal of some Irish pundits is bizarre. By their logic, England in 2004 to 2007 were the best team in the world as they’d just won the world cup
This Ireland team are beyond impressive, beating SA in SA at the end of their season and the start of ours (yes I’m SAn) even once without Keenan, Sheehan, Bundee and a few others in forgetting is a great feat, so they deserve to be in the conversation for world number 1 for sure. I don’t think they get enough credit outside Europe but also sometimes get too much credit within it (to be fair I haven’t listened to this whole pod yet)
@@LarryLoudiniworld rankings show how consistent you are world cups you dont have to be the best just the best on the day a lot of luck involved a perfect example NZ winning the womans T20 world cup they are nowhere near the best in womans cricket Australia,England and India are just got lucky but that's world cups
Calling New Zealnd an average team means that you guys are below average cause the last time the two teams met you were taught a lesson. World Cups matter cause thats when it counts. When no one is experiementing and everyone gives their all.
Who are the "experimental" players that NZ will be fielding this weekend? Who were the "experimental" players that SA fielded against Ireland during the summer?
Hilarious that you even consider Ireland as part of the greatest rivalry. Your best players aren't from Ireland and when you get passed a QF you can consider yourself a top tier nation 👍🏻 You say that you have the AB number and you have the bok number. But most of these games are played in the autumn series where there is nothing to play for and southern hemisphere bleed young blood
The only player I can see being ranked in irelands top 8 that's foreign would be JGP Lowe isn't on the level of the front three back row or the Irish centres. I get not liking them but you feed the hype when you talk about a team disregarding logic 👍
Pretty funny how the metric for ireland to be considered "a good team" keeps shifting. Before it was just being able to beat NZ, then it was winning in NZ, one that was achieved (which SA haven't done in nearly 100 years) it's the QF. When the QF gets over come it'll be a WC and if we win a WC it'll be back to back WCs...
HAHA, Dont mention the All Blacks scored 3 exciting tries, and England one gift try. You northern hemisphere girls crow about winning games on penalties. Your game is soooo boring.
Wow , really? Ireland will win well, by 7 to 15 ? Geez someones confident. Typical irish pundant confidence huh...just like the world cup....endless reasons why they were supposedly superior 😂
Eh no I wouldn't agree with that. south africa are not number one in the world if we're being honest Ireland won both those tests down there. I dont like blaming refs but Luke pierce and Ian tempest caused a 7 point swing the wrong way. We are number one and we need to get comfortable with that we earned the title of the number one ranked team by smacking the world. Champions not just once but twice in their own home the record will show a drawn series but we won both of those games.

If the ABs eliminate silly penalties, they will have Ireland’ s number.
Look at Ireland trying to big itself up. What has Ireland won on the big stage?

It's going to be an interesting game. Ireland, you need some more stats before you can talk about greatest rivalries.
Lads, put this great content behind a pay wall ASAP. The Bokke trolls are massing at the gates and will all be excluded in one fell swoop
Porter got away with it for too long now it's caught up with him.

Over emotional ego tripping leprechauns do
@Trajan2401 Rubbish, how can 'it' catch up with him, playing for club and Country with numerous referees if he was repeatedly doing something illegal it would get picked up regularly, I searched Google for Porter and scrummaging and hey presto Eddie Jones tried the same ploy in the 6 nations just a few years ago, also Mike Ross and Alex Corbisiero both said Porter was not at fault and should have won at least 2 of the scrum penalties, refs just look for certain markers and if something is highlighted then that will attract his focus, it was a gamesmanship masterclass by NZ and potentially swung the game.
Bhahaha.... NZ 31 vs IRE 5... greatest rivalry in Rugby

Nah not even close, South Africa and Australia will always be NZs biggest rivals.

The dismissal of world number 1...is irritating.
@@kh7431 Are the Irish dismissing the Number 1 ranking? That's a shame because this Irish Squad is fantastic.

Yet here you are watching an irish media show.. self awareness would help
Don’t think any Irish fan dismisses NZ winning when it truly counts - they even say this in the first few mins of the pod
😂😂😂 Ireland is SA biggest rival because all you SA fans support NZ and want them to win against your biggest rivals Ireland always beat you 😂😂😂😂
Pretty funny how the metric for ireland to be considered "a good team" keeps shifting.
