The entire limo (livery) service has moved over to the Escalade and its cousin the Chevrolet Suburban. If you go to New York City you will not see any traditional limousines anymore. It's all Suburbans, Escalades, and a few GMC Yukon XLs. The GM big SUVs dominate the field because they are rock-solid reliable and designed well. GM has something like 75% of the big SUV market. Regarding the ride quality, the reason for the not-so-plush ride is that GM uses a solid rear axle in back which is able to take the constant pounding these vehicle get, especially in places like New York City. However, I suspect the next generation of the Escalade might change over to independent rear suspension to keep up with the new Lincoln Navigator.
I took a few ubers in suburbans/yukons in NYC and had no complants about ride quality. I think unless people really go out and test drive every vehicle in this class, they wont be able to tell that this rides slightly harsh. Compared to the majority of other vehicles on the road, the GM trio has a very comfortable ride.

Probably never will, IIHS has stated in the past they don't rate certain incredibly large/expensive SUVs due to cost and because their weight advantages over other cars gives them a general leg up. Best way to figure it out is take a loot at the Silverado platform test that corresponds to the generation you want. First time roof strength seemed to be decent in these or the pickups (based on real world accidents and IIHS testing of the pick up) was with the start of this generation in 2015. 2014 and previous was still fairly pathetic.
Off course time passes by new one comes out and you feel like this is old which is never ending game. But at the cost of 100k thats a lot of money. Think about back in 2016 that was about half of decent home. I am looking for one like this esv.
ESV is the way to go. Next gen will be awesome. The tester in this video was 2WD. 4WD mileage is lower, MSRP is higher. Cadillac says they are not developing any more hybrids, only gas and electric. Escalade will be gas for a long time.
Here's what I don't get about a vehicle like the Escalade: With all of the available trim levels and options, why in the Hell can't they offer a brake package upgrade to give this beast some serious stopping power; something in the 110 ft. range? At this price point, I don't see how a five or six thousand dollar Brembo package would be out of line. I'm not talking about ceramic discs or track packages; just some four (or six) piston calipers and some larger, premium quality discs and pads. A 20 ft reduction in stopping distance is a really big deal, especially when you're spending close to $100,000 for a luxo-boat like this.
I definitely don't see the interior or exterior looking "dated." I think the interior especially looks terrific. The only cheesy/dated looking area is the center stack. The screen and glossy panel with touch buttons below it just looks bad.
Another great video like usual Alex! Although I must say if you can afford the navigator or the Escalade I don’t think you’re going to get the vehicle that you don’t really want just to save $10,000. iSlandeRon Has nothing to do with quality. It’s intentional. I believe this will be changed in the next generation. Its been changed in the newest version on GM’s full size trucks.
I'm excited to see the new Escalade. Hopefully, it won't be as boring both inside and out like the new XT6. Also, I'm always so baffled that they still have a column gear selector? Like, what? I know Mercedes uses something similar but it serves more functionality and it isn't a complete throwback.
These comments are ridiculous. I like Ford and GMC and would get either but let's not act like the Ford expedition and Lincoln navigator are not overpriced either.
Although my engine blew up at 20k miles(on my channel) due to the cylinder deactivation, I would highly recommend the Escalade to anyone looking for a full size SUV
So this Escalade is not relevant but Telluride is ... Have you guys lost your minds ... what is this with the import admiration?!!! ... This dash is awesome ... No glued tablet on anywhere.
Alex keeps comparing these large luxury SUV to the Mercedes Benz GLS, but I can't find a review of it on his channel. He has reviews of all the other Mercedes SUV's, but not the GLS. I wonder why?
From what I see, these aren't family SUVs but useful in the Black Car market or basically executive-level limos. One or two passengers, backed out side windows, really good reading lights and a driver who knows where his passengers live without having to give them directions. These cars are what has replaced the Lincoln Town Car for executive travel.
I can't believe I'm going to say this but I would choose the Lincoln due to its interior design it's just so beautiful. Cadilac needs to do better if they want to keep up
We understand ride quality is different in a body on frame vehicle , this is a truck remember , and therefore you should be complimenting it , not nagging about it the 10 or 12 times through your video . The comparisons to crossover suv are null and void in my opinion as they cannot tow or haul NEAR as much or as well as this one does. It’s like saying a Ferrari is fast , but we were unhappy with the off-road capability .
I’ve sat in both the navigator an Escalade recently at the New York auto show. And the navigator is much much classier especially interior those buttons on the steering wheel and the center consul of the Cadillac were terrible and cheap to me.
I will still say even after almost five model years the Escalade still looks good, honestly a lot better than I thought it would.
Even the previous Gen GMT-900 looks attractive on the Escalade still, those LED taillights will give it an always futuristic look.

On another note i’ve been wondering for a few videos now what is that black thing on the wall over your left shoulder it looks like a giant toilet bowl tank float? LOL
Cadillac is 👑
This is not a Cadillac this is a Chevy dress as a Cadillac
I think I might enjoy Uber-ing in this sometime soon
the escalade started to fail after 2004 or 2005. after that new model came out it was never the same
Candace Chanel after the 07-14
@@decoriumjohnson2085 ehh interior wise sure but i was not a fan of the exterior
GM really needs to move to an IRS. I've driven all the products in this class, because I need an 8-passenger SUV that can tow a large trailer. IRS makes a huge difference, in my opinion. BTW - Where did you find the Nixie tube clock?
Steering wheel not aligned with the seat? Why would they do that?
Alas, it is not uncommon. Drives me crazy, though.
Cause GM's lack of quality.
iSlandeRon Has nothing to do with quality.
Wow. That's something. What did you love about the Escalade ?
Insane over 100k. No thanks
Easily competes with the best large SUVS from the Germans. Sweet.
How would you compare this 3rd row to the telluride? Height wise, does the seat sit lower in the telluride? Equally comfortable?
Plastic and composite glue. Take my money right now.
Your video introduction music needs an update just like this Escalade!
In the navigator video you had said it scored 68dB for cabin noise.
Hey Alex, how about reviewing the GM full size van with the 2.8L diesel engine. I've only seen one review on it .
8 people? Are we strapping mothers-in-law to the roof now? I mean, no complaints, but only saw 7 in this one. Yes I know it has an optional bench.
Ryan Slemmer sounds like a good option to me. Lol
Dude please change the intro music....sounds like an old grandma playing an organ at church.
It definetly looks outdated, but I have no doubt GM will update it for 2020
In 17 minutes, 17 utterances of actually...
Big Al's Smax 😁😅👍🏾 10.08
I take it this video was done before the reveal of the new GLS
100k suv and there’s halogen turn signals in the front
first choice Navigator
second GLS
I can't believe I'm going to say this but I would choose the Lincoln due to its interior design it's just so beautiful. Cadilac needs to do better if they want to keep up
The navigators leg room doesn’t need improvement
Escalade ESV all the way
This ain't nothing but a luxury Chevy suburban 4 Tahoe ain't nothing special about it this is not a Cadillac
@@godofdestructiondiecast6756 yea yea yea i don't care
@@christianstylezinc9224 to each his own I'm not paying for a high price Chevy
I thought you were supposed to put milk in the center console, not cans of soda!?!
I've heard out west you're looking at close to 16k off invoice for these trucks.
I’ve sat in both the navigator an Escalade recently at the New York auto show. And the navigator is much much classier especially interior those buttons on the steering wheel and the center consul of the Cadillac were terrible and cheap to me.
That interior sure hasn’t....
I’d get a Navigator
I like the design, but i agree that the interior is dated and feels cheap. Thats to be expected from GM honestly.
yup, ugly shit controls and small ass screen and missing most of the high end luxury features you can get in a $50k bmw or Tesla
My Toyota Highlander also has a glass trunk so how does it makes the Cadillac special
They don't compete in the same segment.
Banned Egg the name Cadillac you said
I love GM SUV’s, but their headrests are hard as steel. Seats are also pretty hard. In a 60+ thousand dollar car that’s unacceptable.
once the navigator came out the escalade looked dated.
"Looks" or IT'S BEEN DATED, a minute already?!
I’ll take the Riven SUV. 😜
2020 gls
GM is lost, dazed and confused.
Hi Alex!
