The birds absolutely watch us plant seeds! They gossip to all their little friends so dang fast. I too have watched them go straight to the seeds after I went inside! Makes me feel so sad! I try to plant them at night now when they’re sleeping lol
You are brave out there planting while wearing a white shirt! I never stay clean while working in the garden. I have the over crowding temptation problem too. It’s sooo hard to overcome.
What the camera doesn’t pick up is how stained this shirt is. So now it’s my garden sun shirt lol 😂 the overcrowded temptation is something I might never fully get over! Lol
Hello Shelby I am going to get out in the garden this weekend. I am growing the Mushroom Basket as well. This will be my first time growing it. So, I hope it does well.
Mushroom basket tomatoes are some of my all time favorite tomatoes! It’s a big plant with super tasty and beautiful tomatoes. Best of luck growing them!
New subscriber here and I'm doing SuperSauce, Roma VF, Old German, Giant Oxheart, Giant Pink Belgium, Kellogg's Breakfast, and loads of cherry type tomatoes. Looks like you have some amazing carrots. I'm doing Shin Kuroda and Giant Parisian Oxheart carrots. They're also enormous carrots.
That’s a great mix of veggies you’ve got growing on! I really like the Old German tomato but haven’t grown some of the others you mentioned. I’ll need to add them to the list for next spring! I keep seeing the Oxheart carrots, I might need to get a seed pack of those. Thanks so much for watching!
Last year I had over 100 tomato plants. And my San Marzano was so pest and disease ridden, I bet I didn't get over 20 tomatoes off 12 or 15 plants. I hope you have better luck!
Really?! I grew about 20 San Marzanos last year and they were excellent producers. I’m sorry to hear that. What sauce tomato plants do you have good outcomes with?
I'll let you know how mine do. I'm kinda know in my area as having a good garden. I sell plant start and produce. I don't know what went wrong with my Marzanos last year. Everything else was great!
I've never seen anyone be able to plant out tomatoes the first week of March. What zone are you? Also, if you trellis them and keep them pruned well you can plant your indeterminates about 18 inches apart. That's what I do and it works beautifully. I planted sunflowers 3 times last year and the seeds disappeared every time.
I’m in Zone 9 (Florida) I started these seeds about 4 weeks ago. Our temperatures are pretty warm at this point, average high being 80. I meant to categorize the tomato varieties by determinate and indeterminate this year, but I didn’t have time to look before planting them 😔 I will figure out though at a later date. Next time I’ll probably plant determinate together and indeterminate in another spot. The dang squirrels or birds are always getting my sunflower seeds too! Thanks so much for watching!
@kimberlyearly8918 I personally haven’t tried that, but I have heard of people starting sunflowers ahead of time. The sunflowers don’t particularly like being moved and transplanted, but it doesn’t mean it won’t work. It’s worth a try!
@kimberlyearly8918 sunflower packs are so plentiful especially if you get a big pack on Amazon, it’s worth it to try both. Let me know how the indoor ones go!
I had squirrels watch me plant a whole bed of sunflower seeds. Probably 100 seeds I went in the house for two minutes and came back to half of them dug up and eaten 😤
🍅🍅🍅🍅🌻 I Love Gardening
Me too!
Legit those birds are plotting their steal!! I'm with ya! That sunflower wall will be so neat!
They really are! Thank you, I can’t wait!
The garden is looking amazing
Thank you!
I sprout my sun flowers in trays because my chickens watch me
The chickens are the WORST when it comes to my sprouts too!! Lol I can’t blame them though.

That’s a great idea!! I might have to try that!
Plant city got hit pretty hard by that crazy thunderstorm as well. But my vegetables loved it
I bet your garden did! The storm looked pretty big the other night. Can’t believe thunderstorms are already here!

Beside compost do you fertilize your garden with anything else?
Hi! I haven’t had a need to with the help of worm castings. But if I do use fertilizer, I prefer a liquid Alaska fish fertilizer!

I always have lots of Roma, and this year I'm trying the super sauce.
Nice! I haven’t grown the super sauce. I’ll look out for that next year when I seed shop.

@@eddielyles8930 very cool! Yes please do!

@@Homesteading.with.Shelby I wish I could plant tomatoes now. I'm in zone 7. I wonder if it would work to start sunflowers inside?

@@Homesteading.with.Shelby I might plant some indoors and outdoors and see what happens.

No you are not crazy about the birds !! I now put chicken wire over all my sunflowers until they come up And yes I think they do watch us 😂😂😂😂
Great idea! I never thought of doing something like that! They definitely do watch 👀

Oh no! That’s so frustrating😤. I’m really hoping a few of mine germinate! 😩
