OMG. Your kunekunes are adorable. I just concluded this amazing kunekune book "The encyclopedia of Kunekunes" . I cant wait to purchase my first set of kunekunes. The book has been helpful
Just got a piglet..shes 3 months old. Shes half kunekune half Juliana. I'm still learning about her, her noises, etc. This was very informative. Thanks!!
New subscriber but love the videos, and always happy to see someone homesteading where I live as well, this is our second year starting ours, and enjoying every minute of it,and learning every day
Oh, almost forgot. We put our poly water troughs about 6 inches below grade and add concrete stepping pavers in them to keep them from tipping over. We move ours too so we make sure to dig when soil is wet.
Just got two Kunes! Surprised at how much they tear up the soil looking for worms. But love their personalities. So much more pleasant than “commodity” pigs. Wondering why you went with fences instead of poly wire? Thanks for your time
Awesome! We have some that like to turn the soil usually when it is really wet plus we have a lot of grubs! Then we have some that don’t at all. Honestly I’m not 100% sure why we didn’t try the poly wire. I do really like the fences though. Appreciate you following along!
So happy to find all this great information. I will keep watching and educating myself on KuneKune pigs. Our move will be early next year to the new farm and soon after that we hope to visit you for some pigs. Thanks
When it comes to watering, look into a pig water tank. It has an opening in the middle, down low for a pig but a larger animal can drink as well. I'm sorry I don't remember the cost. We currently use this type for our standard hogs and yearling steers/bull. We keep both together out in the front pasture.
Thanks! We have 17 acres we try to rotate every week but sometimes it’s two weeks. All depends on how many pigs in each pen. When we first started we used cattle panel and cleaned the poop out and left them in there a little longer since the panels were harder to move. You can put them back on and area usually after 21 days. We also run chickens behind them to help break down manure.
Very informative video. These pigs are smart and I see why you don't want to get attached to any of them. I could see having one as a pet if I wasn't raising them for meat or profit. I see you keep the bloodlines in check so there is no inbreeding. Guess that is another good reason for using registered stock. Thanks for the information and tips. Sometimes, I guess it's "BURN AND LEARN".
I have a boar 14 weeks. It’s too late to neuter. What is your opinion on buying another boar and keeping them together permanently. Neither will be neutered. From what I have read they should be ok
I have a question and can't find any answers anywhere hoping you can help me out. I'm trying to bond 2 gilts with my "herd "( 2 sows 1 boar) the sows are pretty mean to them. Do you have any tips? Kunekune bred.
You could have them share a fence but they are always gonna pick on new ones just to establish a pecking order. Best thing is to put them in and they will sort it out
Hello I was looking for Coney pigs to start on my new farm I would need them April of 2022 if you have any newborn piglets available at that time that are for sale please let me know and I will pay you guys a visit to look at the pigs I hope to hear from you then thank you for your time and business
Do they try to get in the short electric fence to get at your pigs? I only ask cause we are thinking about buying a couple Kune Kune and right now an electric fence would be our only option. But hesitant because of the coyotes.
So far we haven’t had any issues. Obviously they could jump it and get in but my hope is they come up to it sniffing around get popped and head in a different direction
New subscriber here. Learned a lot today from your videos, thank you.

Sounds like it may be a good option. Thanks!
Came over to visit from Growing Little Country Homestead. You have some nice looking little pigs.
Hey thanks for following along! We enjoy watching Growing little country homestead.
Very informative! Thanks for your time! How much land area do you rotate on and how often between rotations?

I don’t expect to ever raise pigs, but the knowledge is interesting.
Thanks! Never say never!!

This video was very helpful. Also, how much should I be feeding my 1 month old 25-30 pound KuneKune?
We feed all of our Kunes 2 cups twice a day plus fruit and veggie scraps
I can’t wait to buy land and grow/raise/ barter for all of my food.
That’s awesome thanks for sharing
Will these type pigs do well on the Florida panhandle? I plan to graze them and move ducks and chickens behind them
We know people who have them in Florida. As long as they have shade and a place to keep cool they will be fine

We should have litters
How old do they need to be to go graze on their own. I have two three month old boars. They graze in the yard.
Do you have coyote in your area?
Yes we do
Do they try to get in the short electric fence to get at your pigs? I only ask cause we are thinking about buying a couple Kune Kune and right now an electric fence would be our only option. But hesitant because of the coyotes.

Do you have to separate the boar?
We have always separated the sows and put them in a farrowing area. I know some people leave boars and sows together during pregnancy
Do you know of a resource to help find local kunekune breeders? Thank you
You can find some on the akkps website not many are on there. Or you can ask in kune kune groups on Facebook and people will respond.
So from what I saw ...you can keep multiple boars together??
Yes we do. They will tussle when you put them all together but they sort it out quick. Sometimes we have them share fence before we put them together
@@KCFarms thank you much
The names of the lines have always been confusing to me too
Same here and still are. I’m more concerned with conformation and build 😀
The talk of registration is making my head spin. I hate paperwork.
Sometimes it’s overwhelming
Can you tell if the pig is 100% Kune Kune? By looking at him or her. Yes the fence works!
Some mixes look very close so it is tough. Fence definitely works 😂
Speaking for these terms, please?
Not sure what you mean
Are pigs are pets and live in are home.
We have heard people that do that. My mother in law took one home and it lived indoors. Never had an accident in the house always used the dog door!
@@KCFarms yes they are very intelligent. We love are baby’s
And they are very spoiled.
Pigs
should NOT eat raw eggs
