Great video. Nice and clear. Bought a super capacitor from you and installed it. Rear leg was challenging as obviously a thicker track. When I restarted the printer gave me a 'Printer unable ZC' error warning. Went back in and found I had dislodged a tiny SM 400K resistor nearby. Managed to replace it (using illuminated magnifying glasses...) and 'bingo'. Could enlarge your video and see what I'd done. Result even more satisfying! Thanks again.
@@HowardChilton-e3x yes as you found out you need to be very careful with the surface mount components around the super capacitor. These are also the very same components that get damaged and corroded when the original supercapacitor fails and starts to leak
I can’t thank you enough I just tried to print out documents and the printer wouldn’t turn on I followed your directions with holding down the on and off button and plugging the printer back in and thankfully it worked the printer is fine again. Thanks very much for your video it was extremely helpful. Cheers.
Hi Terry Thank you for your video and detailed instructions. I thought of adding my experience to this topic. My DocuPrint M225DW failed to turn on after powering down. No matter, what I did, It would not turn on. So I decided to completely unplug the device from power and left it overnight. Plugged it back on the following morning and the machine started working normal.

Thanks for the video Terry, I had exactly the fault that you describe, I ordered one of the supercaps from you (which turned up promptly ) and I fitted it as per your video and... Bingo! my printer is working perfectly again. You Sir, are a legend!
Yes the moment the super capacitor is no longer functioning and you are no longer able to turn the printer on with the power button the capacitor has begun to leak it's internal corrosive electrolyte. Continue on as is without replacing the capacitor that electrolyte eats away at the motherboard. Then you'll have to buy a new printer and all the brand new printers currently available cannot use non-genuine cartridges, so your cartridge costs go through the roof as well. Also your printer will forget the Wi-Fi settings annual continually repeatedly have to keep setting up the Wi-Fi connections over and over
Hi Terry, great vid. My M225dw printer will power up and in fact prints fine however the display lights up but is completely blank AND the machine still prints wirelessly despite the wifi button not lighting up. Is this the capacitor you mention or something else?
Take the printer outside put it in a car put the car in the sun and bake the printer for an hour. The aim is to heat the LCD screen up to see if it reapears with words. LCD screen s die off when cold. Over time eventually room temperature is to cold. If this is your issue you need a new userpanel
Hi Terry, I am from Sydney, NSW. I have the same printer. The photocopy function working fine, but I can't print anything. wireless connected. Not printing even test page. It Showing on the screen that 'printing' or 'receiving data' if I try to send a print from a computer. But nothing printing, it keep silence other than the message display. I reset the machine (all settings), no use. Can you please help on this. Thanks

You require the supercapacitor to be replaced. It is leaking it's alkaline contents and coroding your circuit board
@@TerryJonesPrinterRepairs Thanks Terry, I was trying to place the order, but did not see an option for the Capacitor.

Nice video..i have exactly same problem. will try to solve it. Thanks for step by step guide.
Is there any down side to powering it on by holding down the power-button and plugging it in, and then just leaving it on?
