There is something momentous here that many seem to miss. Here are two accomplished Somali Kenyans (whose community was hitherto at the periphery of national discourse) intellectually debating and influencing national politics of the day. Though Ahmednasir may disagree, Kenya has made great strides on matters inclusivity.

There’s nothing wrong with Kenyan Somalis making political decisions for themselves and their community . After listening to the discussion and views expressed by members of of the panel, it comes out very clearly that Amednasir has a special relationship with Ruto and UDA. He doesn’t accept that, but his views and hate for Raila is so personal that he does not see the role Raila has played in transforming Kenya for the common good. It is very clear that Raila has the capacity to propel Kenya forward for the common good of all Kenyans while Ruto comes out as a dangerous Chiluba like individual who is greedy and aggressive who can do everything possible to destroy political enemies. That view died with Moi, we must entertain political competition in order to assess who is best for Kenya in the most civil manner.

Raila is loaded for change. He has fought the system all his life. He was instrumental in bringing multiparty politics here. But he deals with politicians who stand for nothing but their stomachs and is sometimes forced to find accomodation in a very politically fluid environment. Some think that his versatility is conmanship but this only because they conviniently ignore the history of the man. Those who understand the man know that it is political dexterity. With his convictions he needed to get a clear path to power to drive the change he has lived for! Wait! Watch and see how Raila changes this country in just 5 years should God give him the opportunity! South Korea and Singapore are his models and that is vision! Ruto stands for no principle and if he does, there is nothing in his history to confirm it. Handouts perhaps? That is the truth. He opposed devolution, BBI and everything that would empower the common man, yet he talks of bottom up. A seriously contradicted personality!

The countries you have named are good examples of how a country can be transformed in a short time where there is clarity of vision among the leadership. one thing you forgot however is the environment within which the transformation took place. unlike Kenya which is excessively litigious these two were constitutoonal dictorships. Nothing was challenged in the courts of law. Kenya may have missed that opportunity of pushing national agenda minus legal hurdles (Moi's time). RAO who I used to support has morphed into unrecognizable fighter for social justice. How I wish he had this opportunity around 2007? let us allow God's will to be done come 9th August
