As a portuguese, I must say that this was my greatest moment of joy with the sport! No matter what they called Rui, he was the underdog and showed his intelligence.
Truly a heart breaking moment for Purito! This race made me love him even more. He avenged himself the following week by winning a monument, Il Lombardia. Love your videos man!
Lovely video, this is one of the first races I have clear memories of. We had a book that summed up the 2013 cycling season in pictures when I was younger, and the images of Rodriguez crying on the podium and Costa's disbelief as he crossed the line are seered into my memory.
It is also one of my first cycling memories, but it's much more special because i'm portuguese myself. It was a huge burst of joy when he crossed the line first
It's also one of mine: I was 16 and didn’t care at all about cycling, but it came to my hometown and schools were closed and roads paved fresh! Now when I go cycling I see every road they raced on and it feels very good!
This was in my hometown! I was not a cycling fan at the time so I didn’t really care, but I remember they closed the schools (that had just started a few days earlier) and paved all the streets! 11 years later, I’m a big fan now and got to see the Tour depart from my hometown. Really feel lucky! Thank you for this video, it made me happy to watch something that I missed when it was so close!
BTW, I really, really, REALLY hope Pogi can take the rainbow jersey next weekend and complete the triple crown! Would love to see a video from you about his 2024 season if he actually pulls it off!
There could be a whole genre of cycling videos about Valverde ruining his teammates' chances of winning so that he can get a podium. One of my favorites riders but it's hard to look past his selfishness.

Really happy to be one of early fans of this channel.
Great story telling again
Really appreciate the work you put into these videos!

Great videos. There’s something about your speech cadence and where you pause in speech which constantly throws me off tho

Rui Costa, always the group's wheel vampire lol.
Love the vids!
He's not the strongest in the group, so he can actually do that. He barely made it the last climb.
That's always the advantage of being an underdog.
