You make a great point, I always felt they gave the freshman spot to artist after they’ve already established themselves (dropped a mixtape/album… built a fan base, etc).
The Freshman cover I looked at as a come up for new upcoming artist. A lot of these artist already dropped solo projects, and been out for like year plus.
