- Just an update on my second machine I built a stand for it from a chair back frame and a stool kicking around. Electroluminescent paint too. I'll be adding a windshield-washer motor soon wanting it to run slow but strong and steady. Thanks, Guys!

I have the green machine identical to your machine I bought a few years ago for $80.00. First thing I had to do was wash it in solvent to get all the cosmolene, grit, metal filings, slag, and dirt out of it. Then I had to sand, lap everything, polish, replace just about every bolt or nut, re assemble, and it works yet its gotten chattery from wear. I have yet to find a parts source for that machine I think the brand is Yaetek or something like that.
Your second machine looks really sharp I like that thread holder you made and that stand is really trick too. Windshield washer motor is a great idea for one I would have never thought of doing that. I have thought about finding an old singer treadle base and adapting my chinese cobbler machine to it. My goal is to buy a long arm Singer 29K, an Adler, or hopefully a new industrial long arm machine that would be a better machine for me. What other modifications have you done to your machines? 29K singer would be the bomb. I have a Pfaff 31 also, not the strongest but good enough to sew sails with. I am mostly using these machines light-duty, hopefully, leather soon. To motorize these, often you need a very large pully to slow them down for practical use. Or a $tep motor large and more pricy. Seen a singer treadle used with these, looked good. I was thinking wiper motor because they run two speeds, slow and slower, small and have much torque. You'd just run them with a power brick such as a laptop supply. To do more investigation on them Id look up something like RUclips... .. .

Did you ever add the motor ? What a coincidence, I also was thinking of a car windshield wiper motor. They are much slower and very powerful. My only hesitation is that those motors won’t let you “free wheel” the crank. So, to adjust the needle, even a tiny bit, you would have to keep using the motor. I wish I could figure out a way to make it “free wheel”.
Have not. All still in a box. Someone used a rear bick gear for theirs. So it drives forward hand cranks back. I extended the main crank shaft on machine..silver solder. So I can have a slipping link between shaft and the a drive I will build....push in to connect pull out to disconnect. I think these little motors are the answer. Very tough, and you can dial in a speed that you like. They can lift much more force than you will need.
Can you tell us what brand both are, the one with the bearings and the one without. Your video looks like it was uploaded a couple of years ago. In your opinion is one better than the other? There looks to be several versions of this shoe patcher sewing machines on the market,but not much info on how one is better than the other. Thanks
I looked when I got them.. No markings. The bearings are nice but I'm thinking so long as you oil real we'll shouldn't be a problem. One without the bearings actually works a little better, truth be told. Timing them is all you need. The rest is all just finish.
