I love when you’re dad comes over to assist in the building. It reminds me so much of the times when my dad would come over to help me in anyway, 45 years ago. Thanks for a trip down memory lane.
It is super special to see your open “happiness” of seeing your multi-year dream becoming a reality. Your house will become a home very quickly. Thank you for allowing us viewers on this tremendous journey!
It’s looking good. Your foundation is shaping up Steve and glad to see you called the crew boss in to keep everybody in line.😂😂….Stay Safe and glad to see nobody pinched any fingers….🇺🇸👊🏼👊🏼✌🏼🪚🔨
Thank you for the installation of the DOX planks, didn't know about the welding them together and the 8-ft span. looking forward to the concrete pour and how your going to tackle it.
I enjoy watching different professionals at work and hearing your explanation. The pace of progress really seems to have picked up. I' m excited for you and your family.
Hi Steve, It's so great to see you build your dream home. It's coming out great and I'm also excited to see every step of the way. You guys work so hard with the concrete and it's awesome to see how your growing and you deserve the best since you do such a professional job with the concrete. You and your family deserve this and much success in 2025. Keep up the great work!!!
Another great video, Steve. I really appreciate the way you and your dad explain each procedure of your project. That’s a lot of great knowledge passed on. 👍🏽
Kind of cool to think that those planks are where they're going to be for about a century, maybe more. I hope your great-grandchildren enjoy this video then.
Thank you for making this video. Amazing. I was amazed at how those small hooks were able to hold so much weight. Going to be one heck of a well built mansion.
Everything seems to be going in leaps and bounds now Steve. I am so excited for you and your family. I hope the rest of your subcontractors can stay on schedule the way your framers and Doxplank crew have
Thank you! After the framing is done, I’ll be handling most of the plumbing then subbing out the hvac. I haven’t decided if I want to be on the roof or not hahaha thanks for watching!
I worked on a plan of new homes where the builder had to use docks plank in the basements and garages because the homes were built on a industrial waste site ! The material would swell when it got wet !! Then we had to go in a pour concrete on top of the plank to level the floors because the docks plank were all crowned ! When the planks are poured in long lengths they run steel cables through them so when they cut the slabs into the sizes they need the tension is relieved from the cables and the result is a crown ! It was a pain to level the floors ! 4 inches at the walls and about 1 1/2 inches in the middle on top of the crown ! It would take forever to set ! Doesnt look like your plank are crowned though!
Here in Wisconsin (east central) we call that spancrete. Maybe because the company is called Spancrete. What a great way to utilize otherwise wasted space. I thought there would be a thin piece of foam between to seal the gap. Im glad your dad got to expirence this also.
Steve, I love seeing your progress on the house. Thank you for sharing the updates I also thought the time lapse video on the garage was really neat. What were they welding or cutting on the doc plank?
Steve before the garage floors are poured. I assume the seams and edges will be caulked to prevent the concrete from leaking through. When you were underneath you could see daylight coming through. What is the product that will be used?
Very nice job, it appears to me there is a slope to the planks for the garage floor? You need to consider a vault door somewhere for secure storage, maybe under the porch area? What county are you located in?
Just wondering if you are putting a drain in those garages? I didn’t and I don’t regret it at all the bacement is very dry. My top garage has a 2’’ drop front to back and a drain out side the garage doors. It is a 30 x 30 and I also have it coated with the paint chipped coating. Use a gal of water on both sides and just squeezee it out works great.
Great question! If we decide to do floor drains instead of just sloping the floor, we will have to drill a 3” hole through the plank. Thanks for watching!
I haven’t ever seen this, looks like a great product. I just have one question 🙋, how can you trim something that is relying on post tensioning for strength, without losing structural integrity?
I love when you’re dad comes over to assist in the building. It reminds me so much of the times when my dad would come over to help me in anyway, 45 years ago. Thanks for a trip down memory lane.
Haha ya, it’s pretty funny to have him come over and then I get to tell him what’s going on rather than him telling me hahaha thanks for watching!
Did you see any of the vids when Tommy was building his palace? Big Tom was there a lot too.
It is super special to see your open “happiness” of seeing your multi-year dream becoming a reality. Your house will become a home very quickly. Thank you for allowing us viewers on this tremendous journey!

Hahahaha it was a fun day! Thanks for watching!
You can see the pride and excitement on your face. Loving these videos.
I'm definitely excited about this project! Thanks for watching!
I didn't know dox planks were prestressed. I also didn't know they could span that far. I learn something new every time I watch you guys.
I’m glad you could learn something new! I know I did haha
Thank you for the installation of the DOX planks, didn't know about the welding them together and the 8-ft span. looking forward to the concrete pour and how your going to tackle it.
You’re welcome! The pour is gonna be a fun one!
I enjoy watching different professionals at work and hearing your explanation.

I' m excited for you and your family.
I appreciate that! We’re all really excited to move in!
The planks are very cool - great solution. I've never heard of anything like that. Very cool indeed!
I think they are a really cool option! Thanks for watching!
That is awesome.. and I love that when you call your dad he is there for you.
Hahaha I just called and said they were doing install because he wanted to see it too haha thanks for watching!
I am very proud and happy for you and your family. I don’t comment often but I do watch and hit like button as I watch on TV.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching and liking!
So much to know and learn about every process of building!!! Fun and exciting! Love seeing the progress!!!!!

Thank you very much! I’m glad you found it helpful!
Kind of cool to think that those planks are where they're going to be for about a century, maybe more. I hope your great-grandchildren enjoy this video then.
You know, I didn’t think of that until I read this. But that is pretty wild!
Instant storage below for you. Wunderbar. So exited for you and the family.
Bingo! Thank you very much!
I’ve never seen those before and appreciate you sharing the installation process.
I hope you found it helpful!
Thank you for making this video. Amazing. I was amazed at how those small hooks were able to hold so much weight. Going to be one heck of a well built mansion.
That crane was pretty awesome! Thanks for watching!
Everything seems to be going in leaps and bounds now Steve. I am so excited for you and your family. I hope the rest of your subcontractors can stay on schedule the way your framers and Doxplank crew have

Holy cow that’s a big crown!! Ya, specialty precast did an awesome job on these!
Glad to see it all coming together.
Thank you!
Another two boxes - literally - ticked off Steve. Onwards and upwards!
I love checking things off the punch list! Thanks for watching!
Excellent. 👍💪🥇 I am already looking forward to the next video.
Thank you! I’m looking forward to it too!

Hahaha ya, it’s one of those “all jacuzzi’s are hot tubs but not all hot tubs are jacuzzi” things haha thanks for watching!
Steve, we used the same type of dox plank building a fish hatchery back in 1986. Great video
Interesting! I’ve never heard of anyone using doxplank for a fish hatchery! Thanks for watching!
Always good to see Tom
This stuff reminds me of the garage yall did that had a cellar under it
Hahaha I was just talking about that today with someone haha
Steve, great job. It’s fantastic when your dad is there. Are you still able to install a drain system in the garage floor with this setup?
Great question! You can, but I think I’m Just going to slope my floor to the door. Thanks for watching!
Very exciting to see new house build
Thank you very much!
It looks awesome. I think you Dad was right. Keep working... 😊
I plan on it hahahahaha but thank you!
Very interesting content , educational, thanks for sharing it and I can tell that you are very excited about the progress ! 👍😎
Thank you! I am super excited about this house!
Learned a lot on this video. Never knew that existed. Nice storage under there.
Glad you learned something new! Thanks for watching!
Great video, it’s all coming together.👍🏻
Thank you!
Steve, I love seeing your progress on the house. Thank you for sharing the updates I also thought the time lapse video on the garage was really neat. What were they welding or cutting on the doc plank?
Glad you enjoyed it! They were welding the brackets together to lock them all together. Thanks for watching!
@ Thanks for taking the time to respond been watching since you started your channel great to see how it’s grown
@ absolutely! I appreciate everyone watching!
That's a cool system. Instant storm/root cellar under there. Looks like you'll be #1 for CWH jobs 2025!
Thank you! Hahahaha noooo, I’ll get the basement, garage, and porch done but that will be all the concrete for a year or two haha thanks for watching!
WOW!! I am excited for you!
Thanks! It's a big step for the house!
Excellent next step! 👍🏻
Glad you think so!
I enjoyed the “ride” and especially “Hi Mom”!
Hahaha I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
It's never ideal to build in the winter but at least you're finish work is going to be during nice weather
Not ideal at all but it is nice to shovel the snow off rather than have rain soaking in
Tell your Pop it would be really cool if he made a jam and trim for that door he's making out of the same exact stuff
Hahaha I’ll tell him
Enjoyed this one. Learned something new.
Thanks for watching! I’m glad you were able to learn something new!
Looking good neighbor!
Thanks Don!! Stop over sometime!
Thanks for bringing us along on this journey, what is the target completion date?
Thank you for watching! The house won’t be finished but we are shooting to be living there by Christmas
Kaye always remember your mother is in heaven in a better place. Love from Lonnie
What?
Leaf blower for snow removal!
The snow was too heavy for the leaf blower haha
Steve before the garage floors are poured. I assume the seams and edges will be caulked to prevent the concrete from leaking through. When you were underneath you could see daylight coming through. What is the product that will be used?
Ya I’ll have to go around with caulking and fill everything in.
Very nice job, it appears to me there is a slope to the planks for the garage floor?
You need to consider a vault door somewhere for secure storage, maybe under the porch area?
What county are you located in?
The plank are flat but we will slope the floor from back to front. Thanks for watching!
didn't realize you had neighors. saw house while I was flying into positions 😁
Hahahaha ya, I have one. She’s super cool tho!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
GOOOOOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!…
Once again, RUclips isnt letting me see your comment past “everyone!!!” But as always, thanks for watching!
Just wondering if you are putting a drain in those garages? I didn’t and I don’t regret it at all the bacement is very dry. Use a gal of water on both sides and just squeezee it out works great.
I don’t think I’m going to do a drain. I’m thinking sloping is a better idea for this. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video just wondering how you put drains in the garage
Great question! If we decide to do floor drains instead of just sloping the floor, we will have to drill a 3” hole through the plank. Thanks for watching!
Looks great. Will you put epoxy on the floor as a finish?
Yup! That will be in a couple years tho haha
I haven’t ever seen this, looks like a great product. I just have one question 🙋, how can you trim something that is relying on post tensioning for strength, without losing structural integrity?
Great question! They were only cutting off maybe an inch so it didn’t effect anything structurally. Thanks for watching!
Just be careful on those things when you are clearing snow. You know how slippery it can be
Thanks!
Looking good Steve!!! Do you have a rough idea how much each plank weighed?
Thank you! I have no idea haha
that was so cool.
It really was! Haha thanks for watching!
Were those doxplank ordered before the foundation was laid out and poured? I assume yes. How much those weigh?
They poured them after the foundation was poured.
I’m not sure of the weight haha
You may have said. How thick will you pour over them. Also is there still a way to put floor drains in ?
Our floor will be anywhere from 4” to 6” thick. Thanks for watching!
A better bunch of guys letting you help - watch instead of the way the waterproofing guys not wanting you around at all
Haha the waterproofing guys were still cool. But yes, these were a great group of guys as well! Thanks for watching!
How much weight do these hold?
Great question! If I’m reading the chart right, for the span we have, these plank are rated for 254 pounds/ft2. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching!
