Coop is different than most guys.. not very many people can walk into his gym and talk about whatever random atachments and pointout various quirkyness to whatever equipment is out there. Most people want to know about the actual training or training of athletes.. coop is all about the tools/equipment and pointing out the functionality..
I respect the dedication to his craft, level of service, and what he's accomplished, but you can certainly tell he's in/near Beverly Hills and plays up his clients when he says they work harder and do more than anyone else with jobs, kids, etc. Their schedules are intentionally crafted that way and it is expected of them with high financial incentives and performances as the goal. The guy who works a mundane office job and comes home to 4 kids has a boss that doesn't care whether he hits the gym and isn't going to give him a million dollar bonus based on his performance in the cubicle. I get what he's trying to say, but it only comes across as elitist. All of this being said, the real thanks here goes to Coop for managing to make a tour like this happen. Not many people are getting into the FDNY's training facility, Gunnar's private gym, firing off the hard questions to Titan's CEO, and touring the country to show home gyms.
Totally agreed, plenty of normal people work just as hard if not harder then these "professional" athletes who get paid to be in the best shape they can be. Normal joes don't have that luxury, yet plenty stay in amazing shape with the only motivation being their own will, not million dollar contracts.
Yeah, that mindset made me not like him right from the jump. Because there's levels of that, too - I'd agree with him that your Average Joe isn't going to suddenly become a professional athlete if they "just" had their resources. (Those folks are freaks.) But! I do think a vast majority of people could basically end up looking like a Marvel superhero - your Chris Pratt / Kumail Nanjiani transformations - if they had the same resources / incentives they did. (And also, steroids.) I think most people are saying they can get in "shape" like those celebs, not that they can out-sprint Usain Bolt.
The Rock! Juji! Brian Shaw! Hafthor!... Any athlete or celebrity with a gym equipment obsession... Want to see some sick unobtainable home gyms... You could do a video of Gunnar's storage lockers too part 2...
I mean, that's not gonna happen. You could search any of those names + "gym" and get any number of videos put out by themselves. Why would they share their YT views and money with Coop?
@@DavidLee-cw6ci juju in particular collaborates frequently with others... Furthermore I am sure there are athletes or celebrities with unique gyms who don't necessarily have a RUclips channel... Lastly I'd be interested in seeing what's in those storage lockers with more equipment...
''they are infinitely more busy than you are, i dont care if you have a 9-5 and 2 kids'' Thats the biggest load of shit I have ever heard. Sure, during shooting films the days are loooong and press tours are a bitch, but regular people dont have time to take 12 vacations per year and they actually have to cook all their meals, purchase their groceries, clean their homes, commute to work in rush-hour traffic. Celebreties dont have to do any of that shit, which gives them the time someone needs to put in too achieve such amazing results.
Had a smile on my face the whole time. Could tell you were excited to be there and having fun. Gunnar was excited to be talking to you about his gym and really enjoyed what he does. Good vid!
I started out with a cheap rack used it for years until I got the money for a monster 3x3. Instead of buying beer or going out to dinner save save save. Good things come to those who wait
Start with a cheaper rack. Rep has some for $359 that are very nice, and can be used for up to 700 lbs (which is much more than I ever plan to lift). You may never see the need to upgrade.
A great compact rack is the force usa folding rack. With all the accessories (minus the weights and bars) it was like $1500. Another good option is to buy the valor fitness bd-9 squat stands($210), the valor fitness bench ($150), a barbell ($250), weight it out plates (355 lbs for $900), and Titan fitness bench press spotter stands which you can also use for squats ($100). All in all that puts you at $1600 to do full workouts. If you need dumbbell stuff, the weight it out plates have handles or you can use some nylon strap with pvc to slip through the plates to use like dumbbells or dish out an extra $150 for resistance bands.
Cmon man. It's just a way to provide that differentiating service. The guys are paying a lot to be there. Those little things are what a superathlete would appreciate.
LOVE this video! Gym, Equipment...................I thought I knew every piece of equipment until I saw this video. Thank you! I like the trainers personality towards his career. A true master of his craft.
I like how this guy was originally a little hesitant and cautious of Coop at first but then over time gradually let down his defenses and became more comfortable
I can tell just by this short video that he's a good trainer. His approach is gentle and encouraging with a very direct way. When you reached for the handles and he said "I'll hand you the weights" it showed just how direct he can be. Oh and some of those machines look awesome.
@garagegymreviews. Oh my God I'm so excited. I never won a prize before. This is going to be so... Hey wait what are you doing? No! Put your clothes back on, you aren't going to screw me.
Bro……these videos are really good. I watched one by chance two days ago and I haven’t stopped watching. I have a large order in with Rogue for my new home and I wanted ideas. I’m a former competitive powerlifter that is getting back into lifting and this time I am going to prep at home. Your content is hilarious and informative but there are a ton of guys doing similar content……it’s your personality and genuine love for what you do that shines through and makes me feel connected and engaged. Few have that characteristic and I think it’s what sets you apart. Keep up the good work.
"The Dominator" is an exercise machine that I am interested in. Is there any less expensive exercise options that mimic the "pull, pivot, push" movement patterns that the Dominator develops?
The liberal arts college in my hometown had the dominator, the super cat and another PowerTech device that I don't remember. They fired the coach that purchased them so they sat in a disused part of the gym And for 10 amazing months , as a janitor, I got in the best shape of my adult life. And they scraped them to a company that collected metal. I was so angry over the situation I ended up quitting the job and I've always wanted those two pieces back.
I forgot there is this Australian company that made a banded version of The dominator. This video is from 12 years ago now so it's kind of old but I bet this would kick ass just the same at a quarter of the price. ruclips.net/video/zizXjXABXpY/видео.html
Thanks a lot for this amazing video. I have never been to United States and I don't know if I will ever have the chance to be there. I have seen many videos from United States regarding gym review, free weights, machines, etc, and I am impressed by the quality of what I see in videos. Congratulations and well done for the success that you guys have. People there love to exercise and look good which is great. Amazing video again and thank you so much that you share with us all all these videos. Kind regards.
Man's a consummant professional... like, as mentioned a Great Barkeep or Barber. Amazing Gym and equipment. Very nice Review... watched it like 5 times already. :D
These are the best videos for me. Just go around and visit people's gyms. Gunnar has an amazing gym. Tony Horton has a nice gym as well as Jujimufu. Let's see more of these videos.
5:39: "I love pieces that you can do more than one thing..." - demos a Versaclimber! Possibly the most single use apparatus of all time. Kettlebells in the corner are crying. Oh joy. I'm just jealous.
The way he was describing his set up and how he provides for the clients oddly reminded me of how a bartender sets up a bar for service.
The guy definitely realized and respects Coop with how many small little details Coop picks up and asks questions about.

I'm more fascinated and impressed by his coaching style and method than I am the gym.
Yeah the dude is intense. Wish I had access to a trainer like that
I love it!
I've never disliked someone so quickly.
Ok Devin
Home gym owners will always make a reason why they need everything when they don’t. Gunnar peterson is definitely one of them.
he literally said he doesnt need most of his equipment
He’s also a personal trainer so he probably doesn’t need it all, but if he’s seeing 7 people before coop got there, he definitely needs the variety.
It's Beverley Hills, his clients like lots of toys
What are you talking about, of course I need 4 different sets of plates? Of course the iron and the steel are different!
a pair of adjustable dumbells and a bench is all i need
Never heard or seen this guy before, immediately tells me I don't have the work ethic or the drive to do anything. Nice guy.

I hope this channel continues in this direction. I think the creativity and getting to see him coach you is super informative.
Jujimufu's Gym Home. Probably more lux than Gunnar's.
Gym home not home gym, very appropriate
jujimufus for sure!
Juji has the space to make it pristine, but I think I'd feel more at home in this. Less perfect, more comfortable
Added bonus juji uses the equipment himself with friends. Gunnar collects it for his clients.
Jesus loves you
I thoroughly enjoyed that Coop! What an amazing facility! I'm digging this series too. Keep up the great work.
Man let’s just go back to his gym and check out more!!! Definitely so cool to see all the equipment and how he uses it.
Love the passion and respect he shows for his equipment!
That dominator machine is insane. I love compound workouts like that. Nothing gets you in shape more than explosive compound movements.
Would love to see a gym tour with Brian Shaw. I feel like he’d be open to a collab since he trained for a long time out his garage.
And I'm sitting here, wishing that one day I'll have enough money to buy power rack.
That will come, and meanwhile theres a lot of movements to do without👍

The “I’ll do everything for you, grab the equipment, load it, etc” is a tactic to make clients feel as though they need you more than they actually do

"I need more space" - every homegym owner ever
Love how the guy came off very snobby, but as Coop shows interest and his knowledge he warmed up a ton!
