I got an 2006 a couple months ago for my first car with 217k miles and they are great evhicles. Fun to drive, offroad capable to an extent and get up to speed really quick. Great, fun, capable, and awesome vehicle.

I just bought an 07 and I think it's easily the best looking year for the Forester. looks so sporty. body lines

I had a 2003 Forester for 15 years. Repairs head gaskets, water pump, alternator and shocks. Now have 2018, rind fine, only new battery, happy with both.

I run a 2006 XT 2,5 and have done 314,000km without any major trouble. Had head gaskets done at 256000 and the radiator changed at 290,000 and that is basically it. engine still running as smoothly as cream, fuel consumption on the highway 9,9 l/100km at a steady 120 km/h... I stick diligently to 10,000km service intervals and use only top grade lubricants and filters. This car is still as fast and powerful as any family car on the road even today...I am retired now and do not drive as much as I used to but have absolutely no reason to change cars. This one will probably outlast me.....I love my Scooby...

Just added a 2008 2.5 XT PPP to sit on the driveway beside my faithful old 2005 2.0, only 60,000 miles on it. Like you, it will probably be the car that see's me out. Hopefully in 500,000 miles for both of us :).

This is a genuinely good looking SUV. Much better than the new SUV design. This looks so rugged and cool.

Great review! The second gen forester was and still is my favourite gen of the forester

I owned this car in a 5 speed manual for a decade. Absolutely loved it. Amazing driving feel. Now I rock the 2018 - last year you can get it in a manual.
The glass canopy is second to none and you get a visual treat at any angle looking out.

first. this is the GOOD generation of cars. love the early and mid 2000's. After that it went downhill.

This is the best generation. I bought mine in 2009 after I saw the new styling and lost my lunch. I think the latest gen isn't bad, but the last few years have been pretty boring and anonymous. So, anyway, my '08 xt sports had been sitting on the lot for a while, so I got a great deal. I still have it at about 90kmi. I'm starting to mod it, atm.

those rims are actually 16" xt, used to have them on my sg 2005 2.5 xt limited 5sp, upgraded them to period correct sti 17" rims with wrx 5pods... great video btw.

2nd gen Forester. Possibly the most versatile car ever made. I have a 2005 2.0 Xen, twin ratio gearbox for nasty winter days, and a 2008 2.5XT PPP for those days when I want to feel young again :). Both can take a fairly large wardrobe, the 2.0 could carry said wardrobe to the top of a mountain, and the 2.5 would still pull a sub 7 second 0-60 while carrying it. Brill cars, except for the drivers side window mech.

anything after the 2nd generation forester just looks like your average shitty SUV. Least the first two gens had character and an interesting shape.

In Europe, this is known as 3rd gen. Owned 2nd and most versatile car. Didn't like Japanese body-issues, like door seals a.s.o.
But this is really strong car despite of the small size.

I have a 2007 Forester X which is PERFECT for running Amazon Flex. The car is like a rolling Swiss Army knife.

I just traded my 2006 buick for a 2006 base model forester. This will be my second subaru and my first forester......it has the upgraded EJ253 and a 5 speed manual, so I hope to get many years out of it.

i drove a sg5 2l sohc manual the other day, i was surprised by the performance and found it fun to drive, i would have liked to push it harder but it was a test drive.

I have a 2008 manual Subaru. I want to change the headlights. They’re foggy. Where can I get them? I like the headlights on this car.

Try 1A Auto or Amazon. I've replaced all the headlight units on my Honda's. There are RUclips videos on how to change them.
