Your trick with the floss is great, but I am so grateful for your technique of using steel screws to tap for the easily broken but beautiful brass screws! Thank you! And great job on the project!
Love your woodwork and designs come to life. I am a home woodworker who loves to make projects for everyday use and larger diy and love seeing yours and others work of such high quality, keeps me trying hard to up my game. Thanks for sharing. I am looking forward to building a large chicken coop once I learn to layout the design using Shapr3d after watching your video demonstrating it. Cheers and keep the videos coming
This is just perfect! My husband is the woodworker in the house and I have to say you are setting the bar really high for him! 😂 I’m going to be homeschooling our daughter next year and my daughter is so excited for “Ms. Mommy” to be her teacher. This would be PERFECT for my desk! 😅
That is a beautiful thing you made there, sir. Just that top organizer tray alone is awesome, but you stepped it up and made an amazing case to sit under it. Well done!
Yeah man! I saw your jewelry box! It’s what turned me on to the Brusso hardware! And it’s crazy you used the sliding dovetail battens too cuz I actually saw it in some old 2000yr old palaces when I was in China a few months ago so I’ve been wanting to try it on a project. Then I saw ur build, I was like “yep this is where I’m going to try it” lol
Look at all these high end tools! People just simply can’t afford dental floss like the good old days. I actually watched this with the sound off because I’m with company, but I can’t wait to watch it again and to check out the rest of your videos. I’m sure I could put together something in SketchUp, but I would certainly buy plans or a even just the model if you’re selling something. You also have Shaun Freaking Boyd commenting on your video! How cool is that? Great project and great video.
I've just recently discovered your channel and I am looking forward to your amazing creations. Thanks for your time in making and producing these awesome videos!
WhoKnowsWho2 keep in mind this isn’t my full time job...the work took me about 5 weeks plus two weeks off due to an injury (once again, don’t rush lol). I had to make the top tray three times because originally I was going to make the tray plus the base from one piece instead of two pieces glued together. Failed both times
@@BevelishCreations ooo, is this the build that resulted in your injury? So it literally was built with your blood? You should do a fails video, I'd watch that too, lol.
Bevelish Creations I am on RUclips all the time and share very few videos. I shared this video to 10 of my family and friends. I am hoping to get on RUclips myself and in addition to being an inspiring video regarding your craft, your authentic personality really resonated because I am not like the typical “in your face” kind of person either. So again, thank you!
Mr Alex... Thanks for a great video. I enjoyed observing your techniques and precision. I especially appreciate your clear narration of what you are doing withOUT woodworking machine noises, echoey voice in shop, and head-banger music. All of these withOUTs make it easy to focus on what you are doing and why. I'll tune in more often. Thx
I am so shocked I have never come across your channel! I stumbled on this video through the Sumner Woodworking Store blog, and so glade I did! Amazing guild, and skills and your shop is amazing! Hope all is well during the stay home, stay safe!
Nice work, Alex! I read in the comments that you've only been woodworking for 1.5 years, very impressive. Also, pretty sweet tool collection you've got there. I'm only slightly jealous
Very informative video, Alex. Lots of nice tips in there. That will be a piece to pass down for generations. Your kids are going to inherit some amazing furniture, along with some great stories from Dad. You should be very proud of your work.
Alex, I was about 20 or so when I made my first real piece of furniture. It was a jewelry box for my girlfriend, similar in size to your organizer but a bit taller. Made from solid oak, with drawers similar to what you did with no slides - just wood on wood. My uncle helped me with both the design and manufacture of it. Neither of us had any clue about wood movement. For the life of that box (my ex-wife, now, so I assume she still has it) it was a struggle every season change to get the drawers to slide correctly. I was so happy that the drawers fit snugly and each one was matched to it's place in the box. So clueless. LOL. I see yours have a bit of clearance so that should not be a problem for you. Oh, and yea, plywood bottoms - thumbs up for those!
Don's Woodies yeah the sponsor wanted everything made from solid wood. I did a lot of research to make sure I covered everything (I hope) so I don’t put out some misinformation out there on the web. I’m glad you told me about the drawers haha, because I was questioning whether wood movement would be a problem on such small pieces for me to leave such large gaps. Hopefully mine will be ok haha
@@BevelishCreations I think yours will be fine. When I said mine were snug, I mean you wouldn't have been able to fit a piece of paper alongside the drawer. BIG mistake with solid wood. I might have been OK if I had the grain going the correct direction on the draw bottom, but being clueless at that time it wasn't even a thought.
Sorry, I don’t have plans for this. But I’m working on my website currently and will eventually do a detailed write up for it and probably free plans to go with it. But my site won’t go live until late January
Thi is a really beautiful piece! I love your quality woodwork skills and camera skills! Thank you and I’ve just subscribed after arching my first video ❤️
I wish you had shown more detail of setting up the 2nd angled cut of the tray. Getting it lined up with the first cut must have been no easy trick. Did you use a spacer of some sort in the kerf of the first cut?
That came out beautiful. I really appreciate the fact that you used your router instead of using the CNC. When I saw your design I was slightly disappointed and started thinking about how I would go about doing that without a CNC, so I was very happily surprised when I saw you making the template. Video is very well done too, I love the whole vibe and started me thinking about making something for myself. Did you design the organizer with specific items in mind or did you just build it and put in what could fit after the fact?
Yeah I wanted to make my projects as accessible as I can. So if I can do something without a CNC, I’ll show it without the CNC. Glad it was helpful! I designed it knowing I wanted a pocket for pencils/pens, one for sticky notes, and one for my business cards to stand up in. I measured now big those three would need to be, and then randomly created other pockets in a design I think looked good
What a result, Alex. Absolutely superb design and I really like the Brusso hinges that you’ve used too; they add a touch of class to your piece, which happens to also be very classy too. I’m also glad you’ve mentioned your Instagram account, because I’m going to pop on there and give you a follow too 👍
I don't suppose by any chance, that you have a set of drawings so that we can try to make this one on our own? This is awesome, and Walnut is my absolute favorite wood to work with!
Nah no plans sorry. I just laid stuff out on a table and measured what pockets I needed, taking into account of the radius of the router bit I used and drew it out on a piece of MDF for the template. Then everything else was just built around that top tray
Unbelievable work! Subscribed and look forward to seeing more. As an idea perhaps you could build a computer desk to compliment this piece. I am looking to doing that myself in the future.
You deserve a lot more recognition, this is beautiful work and your attention to detail is commendable
