    Topps released a Jackson Holliday "Fun Face" card with several variations as a fun play on the 1989 Billy Ripken "FF error" card. But how many variations are there, really? There may be more than we know.

      I pulled white knob and saw the saw cut but we didn’t see the back of card to see if it had/hadn’t saw cut wording. I think it’s a nice gimmick but it won’t stand up in value over the years.

    My son and I made a trip to our favorite card shop in Salt Lake City on Saturday. It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive for us. We bought one box of wax to open at the shop. We decided on Topps series 2 so we could look for the Holiday. My son pulled a Black Box Variant in the first pack. The look on his face was priceless.

    Always good to have chase cards in a basic flagship product. This is good for the hobby.
    If it’s a true error card, those likely would not be on the checklist. So if PSA is no longer grading error cards I would say no. But, card number 276 should be on the checklist, so pretty sure they will grade it. Different situation when there is no checklist.

    The beauty of the original FF card (I was there for the hype) is that it was an error card and this is a gimmick that will fade something awful. Topps/Fanatics is getting desparate as there are non-baseball cards in a baseball product and going back to 1990, I don't remember Barry Sanders being in the 1990 Topps baseball card set. Also, I still think you should get Ryan to add 1 or 2 inscriptions on the rookie card.

      Nice video. I won’t be chasing the Holliday card, but it’s a nice gimmick. Reminds me of when I was buying boxes of 1991 Upper Deck for the Michael Jordan card. I got one in each box I bought. Of course boxes were only $30-$36.
      Also, a single seller has all the “wrong” front Jackson Holliday variations. Seems suspicious. I’ll email links.

      @JunkWaxHero  16 дней назад

      @@mwmartin04 yeah it was a lot more fun ripping packs back then when they were so much cheaper and you didn’t feel the NEED to make your money back

    • @mwmartin04
      @mwmartin04 16 дней назад +1

      Yeah. Cheaper and you could complete most of the set. You could buy that box, get a Jordan, and most, if not all, of the Nolan Ryan Heroes cards (not including the auto). I know Upper Deck started the insert craze, but it was manageable in those boxes. Now there are too many parallels, inserts, and worthless autos and relics. You can’t even get a complete base set, especially with less packs and cards per pack.
      For modern stuff, I just buy a Red Sox team set from the flagship releases (Series 1, 2, and update) and individual cards of players I collect: Pedro, Ortiz, and Pedroia. Of course, I did get the 2024 Topps Series 1 Mookie Golden Mirror variation since it shows him from his return press conference at Fenway last season.

    5 like the original and then the saw cut so 6 total those are the actual intentionally issued ones. The others are most likely just printing errors

  • @in2rock275
    @in2rock275 15 дней назад +1

    If sawcut w/wording is the rarest (0.5%), what keeps someone from taking a base with sawcut wording word (3%) and turning it into a sawcut with wording? Once you know the dimensions, it would be easy to duplicate with a table saw. I can shave 1/128" off just about anything with mine so I see opportunities for some. Not for me. My guess would be that they'll eventually grade it, but they'll be a little slow to the party. You know how it is the big company not being agile. I understand, perhaps somebody bought a dozen sawcut above the number & exacto knifed them. When PSA says they'll only grade cards from the checklist really what they mean is they'll only grade cards from the checklist except in cases where they decide to grade others. They have hundreds of graders and theses guys have to correctly identify which of millions cards this is.
