I separate material with thick gold plating and very thin gold plating. In this bucket, the gold plating was thick. I have now exactly the same amount of other gold-plated material with a very very low gold content, such as contacts from USB wires. I'll be lucky if I can get five grams out of this bucket 🙂 If you decide to extract gold from your material, make a video and share your experience. I think it will great 👌

I really liked your technique of adding water and sulfuric and Nitric right at the beginning. Can you tell me how much the bucket weighed? How much gold did you process? The bucket and the gold together was 3327 grams? Great video! I am guessing 156 grams for the bucket.

    • @akgoldbear7669

Hello. The weight of an empty bucket is 180 grams. The weight of the entire gold plated material was 3147 grams. There were more than one kilogram of gold-plated transistors in the bucket Philco 2N1272, Kt355a and kt632b. I'm sure the most gold I've gotten is from transistors. Hi really enjoyed the video. What concentration are the nitric, sulphuric and hydrochloric acids that you use? Would you recommend this method for ceramic cpu processors or do you think nitric acid would be enough to lift the gold away from them? Seems like using sulfuric and nitric together speeds things up which would be good for me. Don’t want to wait a week for nitric acid to do it’s thing like a lot of people suggest. Thanks in advance 👍🏻

    • @akgoldbear7669
      @akgoldbear7669  9 месяцев назад +2

Hello. Glad you liked the video. The concentration of nitric acid is 67%, hydrochloric acid is 31.7% and sulfuric acid is 98%. When I work with ceramic processors I also add a little sulfuric acid, this way the nitric acid starts up faster and the metals dissolve faster. This way you can use less nitric acid. Nitric acid is expensive 🙂

    • @akgoldbear7669

All drain openers contain sulfuric acid. There are many drain opener manufacturers and they use different concentrations of sulfuric acid. In dilute, not concentrated sulfuric acid, when heated, you can dissolve iron and tin. Be careful with drain openers as a drop of HOT sulfuric acid can burn a hole in your hand to the bone. Always use gloves and keep clean water nearby 😉

I've been asked this before, so I'll just copy the text for you.
I usually isolate even dissolved copper from solutions. Sometimes I use my copper sulfate for my garden. I don't use much nitric acid. I also use urea to neutralize the remaining nitric acid. After removing all the metals from the solution and after neutralizing the nitric acid, I leave the solution for 15-20 days. After 20 days, the bottom of the bucket will have a sediment and dirt that I collecting in my waste bucket. After that, only a little hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid remains in the solution. Very little. Such a solution will not harm anyone, anywhere. I just flush it down the toilet. Any hardware store sells pipe cleaner drain opener for sinks, all drain openers contain sulfuric acid, this is dangerous! Also they selling muriatic acid for cleaning swimming pools, muriatic acid is a concentrated hydrochloric acid that's really dangerous too. These solutions people use every day and a lot. My acids are not active after processing 🙂
If you think your acids are still active just dilute them well with water. Good luck 😉

I'd be curious to know if you took the time to calculated how much time and effort it took you over time to reclaim 100's of electronic devices to accumulate that bucket of scrap because time is money. Add cost of various amounts of acid and then add time to extract gold over three days time. Subtract your asking price of $1,500 for the bar and see if it's really worth it. I would definitely say you’d put gold back into solution at least once if not a couple more times when you did you hcl boil as well as nitric boil.
I always recommend a stannous test. That would show if you’re putting gold into solution or not, or if it was just palladium in the hcl boils.
Chances are you didn’t rinse the HCL well enough before the nitric boils. I would recommend at the least to incinerate your materials after the hcl boil/rinses and even better, in between refines to get more purity. That will prevent any excess nitric from creating agua Regia or excess hcl when switching to nitric. Great video though! Thank you!

First, you have all the time collecting components , tearing them down to the gold-bearing items. Second, you have all the costs of acids to extract the gold. After you take your labor and supply costs you are definitely losing money by producing only 21 g. You needed to filter those solids out at least another couple of times.
The solution was nowhere near clear.. You also didnt remove the excess presence of iron and such before adding the iron sulfate..
Also, the fact you were not checking for gold in solution with stannous tests means you could have potentially lost some gold into your waste bucket.
That gold could be a lot purer if you start the process over again.

Was it worth it? Everything I'm going to do is basic addition subtraction and multiplication and division but it is applied math. If you can apply the simplest math formulas you know a lot more than most people.
    21.2 grams of gold x $62.877 (round up to $63) = $1335.60. Not bad
Gold wholesaler will purchase for 50-90% (they need to make money too). Let's pick 85%. $1335.60 x 0.85 = $1135.26. Not bad.
1 gallon of lab grade sulfuric acid with hazmat shipping and taxes $110-140. Let's say $110. $1135.26-$110=$1025.26
And another $100 for the nitric acid and if we're subtract that we're at $925.26
Let's give a conservative estimate of gas spent driving around to get this $25 and another $25 on lab supplies, $875.26 I assume you spent more on gas driving around and gathering things for a long time and getting supplies. I assume your supplies cost more than $25 but let's be conservative.
I also assume you spent way more than 40 hours gathering everything, being apart electronics and extracting the gold but let's say you didn't. $875.26/40=$21.88 an hour.
I worked at USPS for $23 an hour. I worked at the airport for $21 an hour. So many people think that by extracting good they're going to get filthy rich. You never said that but many people believe that. Is it worth?
