Hi I have ended up breaking the main string trying to tune it to c#. Now to which octave should I tune it. Since the 3rd string which is the lower octave and If I go below 3rd octave it doesn't sound atall. So my 1st string is in 4c# which apperantly broke. So which octave do we tune the sarangi to?
please let me know if you have any luck. I'm trying to find a sarangi instructor myself. I would be happy just finding somebody that plays sarangi at this point..
@parsonslife1 Have you checked out world music guru - if you google that you will come up with the website, there is a gentleman who teaches Sarangi, there are a few others who teach dilruba and Esraj
I have couple of questions: 1) What kind of chalk do you apply for the pegs to stick? 2) How important is it to apply talcum powder to your fingers? Does it really make a difference in tone? 3) What kind of string gauges are there? I was able to find only 3 different gauges in stores in India Thanks much, Adarsh
Black board writing cholk is used for the pegs. Talkom powder is using for easy flow of the fingers and finally from 00 to8 guage steel strings are available also brass orcopper strings different guages are available. Sangeet mahal shop ernakulam kerala..
Thank you so much for this!! Helps me out alot.
