I think it would have been ok had they loaded the vintage reprint packs within the booster box. The PCJ have to be aware by now these single card packs are see through and sellers are taking advantage of it.
A lot of the online resellers aren't selling the Pokemon 25th anniversary Japanese booster box with the promo packs :( but the box by itself is very nice
Most of the people who came back to the hobby in 2020 and 2021 are 31 year olds like me. Seeking familiar cards, like reprints of base set is what drives that nostalgic price up. And those same 30 years are getting their kids into this if they weren't already as you described. The nice thing about hobbies or "nerd culture" is that folks care less and less of what others think of their interests. The stigma of liking Pokemon as a teen or adult isn't as bad as it used to be 15 years ago, when I was a teenager.
I thought they were placing the promo pack inside the booster box. I'm not sure of the reasoning to have them separate. I almost bought into these when they were stupid expensive. But, my Japanese friend told me to wait... and I am so glad I did.
Thanks Jake!!! 🔥I didn’t realize prices dropped so low on this set. My son and I wanted to collect it as well and open it on our channel! Looks like now is the time!!’
Hey Jake, just curious to see if you have a sealed box of the B&W Shiny Collection (Japanese Legendary Treasures essentially)? That's another one of those "special" sets that is super pricey at this point ($3k+). It came out in 2013, so they're kind of hard to come by at this point.
Very informative. I just started collecting again and I'm trying to figure out the perfect balance of cracking or keeping sealed. Plus storing and keep cards in good condition.
I picked up one of these boxes to keep sealed and hold long term. I do think that it was a miss to not be able to pull the classic set though. If you thought the repeats in the English set were bad, wait until you're only pulls are the pikachu V/Vmax, professor oak full art and Shiny Mew (and you only have the chance to get the professor's full art/shiny mew in one box...so you have to buy two whole boxes just to have a chance have a chance to get the chase cards.
Hello Twice baked Jake/ Hello Poké community - I've been tracking the outer plastic packaging on these Japanese Booster Boxes and have been noticing an inconsistency, which I've never noted in other Japanese Pokemon product over 22+ years. Specifically, some of the Celebrations boxes have the plastic seam on the "Kyogre" side of the box while others have the plastic seam on the "Mew" side of the box. (For example, in THIS video, the seam was on the "Kyogre" and not the "Mew" side @4:33). Have you any input on the plastic packaging on your Japanese booster boxes? Would love for anyone else reading this to chime in and share which side their seam is/was on. I'm taking an assessment if there are counterfeits floating around or if it's just some sort of extremely rare production issue. Thanks Pokémon community! (btw, I tried shining a light thru my promo packs and I just couldn't see anything, lol. So I ended up opening all my promo packs except one!)
hey Jake, It is actually a myth that you can shine light into the promo packs. I bought a lot of the promo packs and try to shine light into it, you cant see anything. The wrapper is not like the one in McDonald Promo packs where it can see through.
@@dangies I tried it with very bright light and I also tried in a dark room. I still see nothing. Not sure why people think these packs can see through. :/
These boxes are like everything I hate about celebrations loads and loads of duplicate cards. I guess you get the occasional hit but not like you do in the USA set
they should of put the promos in the booster pack. even though you can tamper with the promo packs i thought you were meant to get 1 every 4 packs or 4 for a booster box. or do some sellers just take the promos and sell them separately?
It's such a shame they did not put the sub set in! They really got greedy with the promotions but in a way I get it. The sub set is nonplayable while the main set is, right?
Where can I safely get these for $50, and what sets contain the promo packs, I was under the impression pokemon center just gave anyone that bought the booster a few promo cards with it?
Always learn something new watching your videos. As someone still pretty new to the hobby even something as simple as learning a new website to look for product on is huge. Thank you for always putting out great videos.
If you want the promo, I will recommend the special set box with 4 booster packs + 1 promo. I was lucky to have gotten one from Japanese reseller sealed and I receive a shining magikarp in there.
Was really hoping you would pull the v-union and so glad you did. Because we can’t pull it in English I think that’s what’s cool about this booster box is pulling that the v-union. Mew would be just icing if one is pulled.
So that japanese booster box is $50 but you cant get the big hits other than the gold mew. The english celebrations ETB is $50, you get 10 celebrations packs, plus 5 packs, plus greninja gold star promo, plus sleeves. I think im just gonna continue buying up all the Celebrations ETBs at msrp when i see them..
Some of you guys might be able to help me with a problem im having. Im having a hard time understanding sealed collections. How can people enjoy the cards if they keep them sealed up? And are there collectors that like the packaging more than the cards themselves? Just having a hard time wrapping my mind around sealed collections.
😂 Well i started half a year and i didnt like sealed products aswell but then i bought tons of etbs and stacking them and displaying them on a nice shelve really looks great. And you can keep them like this (also as in investment) or sell them after a few years to others who might display them or even open them. Its a question of taste
Hi Jake, Thank you for your great content. My son and I just pulled the Japanese 25th Anniversary Charizard. Would you suggest selling to buy more Pokémon or keeping? Thank you.
Totally up to you. It's a hard pull! But if you and our son don't value the card then getting a return for additional packs to open could be worth it if you value additional fun at the risk of lower value pulls.
I just purchased one of these from amazon japan, it arrived with no shrink wrapping. it was just in a plastic bag with a barcoded sticker over where the bag opens. I was going to keep this sealed indefinitely. So unbelievably disappointed. It shipped from amazon but was sold by NOBLESE
That's the first time I've heard of this so I put a Bright flashlight up to the promo card pack in a dark room and I could not see what card was inside. So I think its kind of hard to see what's inside. Just throwing it out there.
You need to shine a light through the back and look at the front. If you direct the light at the top of the card you can see the japanese black writing of the pokemon name when you apply some pressure to the card as you shine the light through. It took me ages but I correctly guessed all 20 of my promos.
I actually found a reputable Japanese seller on eBay and pulled a Blastoise from 4 promo packs. I got the booster box and 4 promo packs with fast shipping. It's possible to find an eBay seller that doesn't use the flashlight trick. The Pikachu full art with reverse holo (square pattern) is worth $12-13 actually.
As a sealed product in my Pokemon vault this would be perfect and 10 yrs down the line i see this Pokemon Japanese 25th anniversary product in 2 thousand price...maybe
I have tryed with every light I have in my house ( and I got alot. Some high lux led) but I couldnt see through the promopacks. Have anyone had any luck seeing through the packs without having to open them?
Yeah I got 20 from ebay and I managed to shine the light through them and see the japanese writing on the top of the front of the card. Shine your phone light through the back of the pack at the top and left hand side. Then press you fingers down on the card and look at the card in the dark and you can see the black japanese writing.
