- This intense moment unravels as a hornbill underestimates its victim and the dead snake fights back and chokes the bird - Was the meal worth the risk? This insane sighting happened just North of Satara in the Kruger National Park.
BOOK YOUR TRIP TO KRUGER: bit.ly/BookatKr...
Bev Field, a 50-year-old house executive witnessed this intense moment during a visit and shared the story with LatestSightings.com: "We came across a family of southern ground hornbills foraging. There were 4 adults and 1 juvenile. We watched them for a while and then noticed that the juvenile was feeding on a snake and seemed to be struggling."
"We realized that the bird had swallowed half the snake and couldn’t swallow the rest or regurgitate the snake. We watched for about 45 minutes as the bird tired from carrying the big snake around, trying to get it out of its throat. It was a very big snake for the youngster. The interesting part for us was that the adults kept foraging and didn’t show any distress for the struggling juvenile."
"They showed no interest in feeding on the large snake either. We would have thought that the mother would have stayed to help the juvenile. It would have been so easy for an adult to pull the snake out."
"They kept walking hundreds of meters away despite the juvenile’s calls for help."
"It was very hard to watch the bird struggle and we were heartbroken when we thought the bird was dying. Everything in us wanted to get out of the car and pull the snake out of the bird’s throat. Other than not being allowed out of your car in Kruger, we also knew that trying to help the bird could stress it more than it already was. It probably would have tried to fly away and exhaust itself further. A very difficult, helpless feeling."
"Suddenly the bird miraculously got up and managed to regurgitate the snake and then started the process all over again - tenderizing and pecking the snake to eat it all over again."
"This was an extremely rare sighting - literally once in a lifetime and wonderful to have it right on the road. Everything in me wanted to help the bird, but this is nature and it needs to take its course. In the end, the ground hornbill survived without intervention."

"To bite off more than one can chew"
- Everybody BUT this bird.
British idiom 😂😂😂 I know that one
But it didn't bite anything off, that was the problem.
At least no one from this channel tries to interfere in wildlife "helping" animals, that's a big proof of maturity and respect for nature 👏
EXACTLY!!!
THIS was "nature's design". Let them do what's natural. It's actually HUMAN interference that's ruined everything.
@@DiaAkin I concur
By the look of it that snake was run over by a vehicle driven by a human, so the very fact that it was lying in the road for the bird to eat, was because humans were interfering with nature.
@@digitalst0rm438 👌🏾
@@digitalst0rm438 everything interfers with nature because everything is part of that. Humans are the nature gaining conciousness itself. If we exist, that's because nature made us that way and nothing more natural than interfering as we please
How many "earlier sightings " we would have missed if we did not have "latest sightings ". Thank you guys for bringing the best out here 🙏

Remember, even if you’re hungry chew your food
When you order a large meal but get an XXL meal at the same price as the large meal, so you have to force yourself to finish it.
That's what doggy bags are for.........
🤣💯
A very young ground hornbill, I bet it learned a lesson here.
Yes
I was surprisingly happy when he came back to life
Change the title to
A BIRD CHOKED ON A DEAD SNAKE
ahhahahaha
Why?
@@egretfx Because the current title is misleading. It's fake news because the dead snake did not fight back. How did it fight back? It didn't. The bird simply choked on it. Case solved.
Correct
@Bates Yang At the moment it's "Dead Snake Chokes Bird" I don't see anything wrong with that. It's fun title once you pull the non-literal stick out of your butt.
omg, in the end, the bird tried chopping it up. Thank god for our hands and tools!
The bird was cursing its ancestors for giving up their teeth and hands :)
It is possible we humans are lacking understanding or not having the gear to handle certain things in our mental, emotional or physical world
These people were great. Your human need for compassion to help the bird had to be controlled to allow nature take its course. The bird wasn’t smart enough to understand it could not swallow that snake whole and almost died for it but now in the future it will understand the lesson it learned for the rest of its life. Dead or not snakes need to be eaten w care.
Did you notice the bird tries to eat it again immediately after heaving it up…?
@@JJJJJVVVVVLLLLL Yes BUT it starts hitting the meat hard with its beak trying to slice it.
Maybe the bird choked because it was anxious of all the humans around.
@@JJJJJVVVVVLLLLL The description says it ended up eating it
@@shawnruby7011 good to read! I always forget
He lucky he coughed it back up, it looked like he was choking .
Now i believe in the saying you've bitten more than you can chew
Looks like he bit off more than he can chew! 😁

Hahaha
@@veniciopereira1007 Lol
At least the hornbill was smart enough to realize it had to break the meal into pieces, but unfortunately lacked the hardware to actually do it.
The online _Honey_ _Badger_ _Challenge_ almost took another life. Just because they can eat snakes like noodles and not have a gag reflex doesn't mean birds can, too.
Graças a Deus porque o pássaro 🦅 está bem 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🌻🥰💗💓🌟

this is exactly what the phrase "eyes too big for your stomach" means lol
Can we take a moment to appreciate how much time and effort he puts in the videos for us😇.
Still the bird keep on swallowing it .Hungry creature goes beyond the limits. ✨
This is exactly what happened at Kruger when I was there--you see animals and instantly there's 20 cars all lined up trying to see as well. It's Disney for safaris.

When Christmas lunch is a snake, you need a nap while half of it is still on the plate.
This is the real dentition of "don't bite more than what you can chew"
the bird is like "this pasta is NOT al dente!"
How can dead snake 🐍 will fight back? The bird doesn't able to swallow it period!
That's the joke
The perfect lesson of “let it go.”
That one was meant to be eaten little by little. Not to be swallowed.
certified bruh moment for that bird
I once saw a group of 3 such hornbills each with a frog!
Kruger - never stops amazing you
For whatever reason I was expecting a dead snake to come back to life and choke a bird.
The bird: "hey you idiot recording, please give me the salt and pepper. Ahhh, and water too".
That bird was making the blackout challenge.
Rule #1
"Chew before you swallow" 😁
Thank you for your real thumbnail
Bird like yeah im just going to peck at it
It's not good to bite more than you can chew especially a spaghetti that long. 😂😂
“Get me that bird” ‘sweats hard’
"you're coming with me to hell"
Great ending!

That's something you don't see everyday. Nice capture LS'

There are many people here saying that one should not intervene in the course of nature, but the poor bird was almost choking to death for swallowing the snake🐍, it is hard to look at a scene like that and not feel overwhelmed whether to help or not...🥺😨
When you drive down the street and you see abundance of homeless people why don't you feel the urge to help people
@@GudJonnyCakes And who told you that I don't feel the need to help people in street situations, Do you know me to give that opinion about me?🤔 the comparison you have made is simply ridiculous and as for the video I simply expressed how hard it would be for me to see such a scene and feel that I could not help the animal🦤,but of course there is always someone who wants to look smarter and take the context in a different direction, I hope I have made myself clear.🌻
@@GudJonnyCakes good comment 👍🏻
@@GudJonnyCakes lmao this reply is so stupid
If i'd see a homeless person choking, yes i'd help them
Somebody's eyes are bigger then their stomach" =)
Finally Bird survived.
No but this bird is smart fr. Cause another bird species/animal less smarter in this situation, after almost choking, would have tried again in the same way or would have left. Instead this bird at the end is trying to cut the snake in smaller parts, to avoid chocking.
I think he was just pecking it to make sure it was dead. Out of anger for it putting up such a fight at being swallowed
Yes!

Famoso olho maior que a barriga .
Why do people refuse to hold their phone sideways for video recording?
Oh god the flashbacks of ramen noodles 😬💀

It's like he was trying to cut it up with his beak at the end, or just getting some revenge 😂

Seagull must be ashamed if he see this 😂
So, you just let it die? That's rather cruel.
Oh buddy, so close, so far away.
It wasn't choking, that is not how a bird shocks, I have watched a lot of birds chocking and they don't act like that. The snake was so heavy and was eating it from the wrong side, so it wasn't able to swallow it, even it couldn't mantain it's head hight for long periods of time for the weight of the snake. Bro, birds always swallow, they don't have teeth, they have a very different respiratory system and it can't be chock by something big in it's neck.
just like my wife when she gives me felatio
Amazing
The bird certainly bit off more then it could swallow. But you tell that too a hungry Hornbill...!!! These birds are notorious for swallowing prey or in this case trying too swallow prey MUCH larger then they are capable of. However, birds typically regurgitate what they can't consume. Snakes do the same thing probably more often then birds. So while it was sad potentially watching this bird choke too death. It was not in any real danger.
animals are Amazing
I can't believe no one said he bit more then he can chew
Snakes will 'bite' even when they are 'dead'. This was not a 'choking' situation. The bird likely was envenomated.
Como pode assim essa sofrência e não fazer nada pra ajudar o pássaro 🐦 gente sádica
And! He went back!
Whoa 😱
Wow
I was always told your supposed to chew your food 32 times before swallowing
interfering to help a choking animal isn't technically intruding with nature as the snake is already dead
What a learning video....
Chew your food before swallowing. 💡
The bird will now hibernate till next year.
That was intense to watch
Awesome
is that hornbill?
I didn't know it can push back .
When should we interveñe and when should we not intervene ?
Me when I see a steak...
How can he fight back if he's dead...reminds me of people when they choke on food.
Quite literally bit off more than he can swallow 😂
0:50 lol something bad is happening inside of me
Greed kills as they say
Bird brain LOL
O Calau achou que era uma minhoca gigante🤣🤣🤣, mas a natureza é assim, tem seu próprio equilíbrio.
pq as pessoas ficaram horas assistindo e filmando e não ajudaram o pássaro, crueldade
Oh bird lived. ☺️
The instinct to eat even if it kills you
“ I should call her “
Clearly this particular snake had trolled this bird’s mother or called his sister fat or something. To get eaten, to the point of nearly killing the consumer, spit back up, then hacked on the ground by its beak… says something.
