      Being the first to see something is only one of the many definitions of “discover”. It can also mean “perceive the attractions of (an activity or subject) for the first time.”, “find (something or someone) unexpectedly or in the course of a search.” Or “become aware of (a fact or situation).”
      The western world did not know about this species until that account. So their knowledge, their own personal discovery, came from him, and not your great great grandfathers.
      Think of it like this: if I said “the Incan Tribe discovered the existence of Europeans upon first contact with the European colonizers”, am I saying that the entire human population did not know about Europeans until that contact…?

      It have just one meaning.

      And that's not the case here.
      It's just the western arrogant.
      "Though he did not really “discover” the so-called New World-millions of people already lived there"
      You should tell "history" here there are many means of discover lol.

      discover actually has 3 definitions on Cambridge:
      “To discover is also to realize or learn:
      [ + that clause ] When you go on a trip, you always discover that you forgot a few things.”
      What’s even funnier is you had to go down multiple google results to find that specific site too. So the history is accurate, and it truly looks like you will completely ignore not one, but two dictionary sources (Oxford and Webster) in a desperate attempt to find a version to suit your narrative.

    • @J0eMega
      @J0eMega 2 года назад +2

      Actually, they can, as there is more than one definition for the word “discover”. Another meaning can be to simply witness something for the first time, rather than to be the first in world…
      It’s not a colonizer narrative, its just that European knowledge of the creature, (and maybe the very name we call it) came from this man, and not the tribes. For example, if you discover a Netflix series that you really like, that does not have to mean that you were the first human on the planet to learn about its existence…

    We only have one venomous snake in Sweden , The Viper. It is quite harmless if you do not disturb it.
    I have nearly run over a number of them this summer with the bike. Mostly small ones, making them male or youngs.
    A bite is extremely painful, not generally deadly, but extremely painful for a long time, so do not play with them. The foot or hand can swell three times its normal proportions with extreme pain. They are though important to hold down mice and other rodents, so a very valuable animal.
    In rare cases, people can die from a bite.
    My to-be wife and a friend of mine, chased a Viper in the long grass. I stepped forward and looked at the snake and yelled: "It is a Viper " They never knew. They would have become painfully bitten without my warning.
    The tell-tale of a Viper in contrast to a Grass-Snake is thourohgly discussed in Wikipedia.

    A eunuch walks into a bar with a secretary bird.
    The barman asks him, "So how did you acquire a Secretary bird?"
    He replied, "A genie granted me one wish."
    "Don't tell me you asked for a Secretary bird?"
    "No. I asked for a long legged secretary who could swallow my snake whole."

    Maybe the Secretary bird might be the answer to Florida swamps snake infestation. Worth thinking about.

      Florida is infested with burmese pythons and pythons are a completely different deal.

    • @RKoen2006
      @RKoen2006 2 года назад

      The big pythons would eat the bird and it would cause problems with the other wild life all they can do is keep the population down but the pythons are there for good now they aren't going anywhere.

    The snake wasn't unfortunate running into the bird, the snake was unfortunate that he was tied to a string. :-)

    We need about 10,000 truck loads of these. Aye god, they would be handy to take along on canoe and camping trips! Some of them, and something to sweep through a campground to scarf up mosquitoes, ticks, and inconsiderate folks with loud stereos.

    Good vid, but I think the bird should have been filmed without the string in the snake, the snake has no chance at getting away.

      Because venom and poison are different. Venom has to enter your bloodstream to affect you. Poison just has to be inside you
