Ed's videos are so fun to watch because he is so true and so representative of most of us(or just me). We know what we know and then we get shocked by when we see it. Also I'm a new fan of Mari Humberg now.
After the flick lesson, that slice dink one is as good... 18 min mater class with a pro is gold..your a great communicator of the game and a great player...love your video so much...keep going wish you nothing but the best with your channel
Interesting video. Thanks for sharing. One thing I can see is that if you compare the paddle angle at the extreme of the backswing (on the dinks that bounce) Ed’s paddle doesn’t have as much angle as Marie’s paddle. More upright. Ed then has to change the angle of the paddle through the stroke to impart the under spin. This creates more of a scoop in Ed’s swing compared with Marie’s which is more in a straight line. Marie’s swing would therefore impart more underspin and be more consistent. However when Ed takes the dink out of the air he has more paddle angle.
I will be more prone to watch a match with Mari after this! Great showcasing of why she is a pro. I have to really focus to keep my eye on the ball, ping pong has helped. A tip shared from a table tennis coach is you want to have your eye where you are going to contact the ball. I have to put time and effort into “ eye on the ball” does not come naturally at all for me.
Great session. As a new PB player coming from the tennis court and having hit with only two paddles ( one wood and one a $50 carbon) I don’t have enough feel for just how much backspin I can get off of a Pickleball paddle. In tennis I have a rally ball slightly floaty backhand slice which is dependable that kind of sits up a bit. I also have one which aggressively knifes from high to low and skips or at least stays low. 1) Which of these have comparable shots in Pickleball. 2)Which of these is worth developing. 3) how useful is a hard backhand slice at the NVZ rather than a ping-pong like backhand flip? Thanks for your help. David - Dallas
I might be the minority, but I’m not a believer in a slice return of serve makes it easier to hit a topspin drive... not in tennis and definitely not in PB where the ball doesn’t bounce (even with topspin). A proper slice should be a straight lazer, barely clearing the net, and skidding low to the ground.
She’s very easy to follow & informative - bring her back! Thank you for sharing your lesson with her with us all!

Love this video! I was smiling the whole time watching this video. Both Ed and Mari are awesome.
The point about panicking when we aren’t in great position is so true. I do it constantly. Just hit a simple shot and stay in the point.
These have been some of the best pickleball videos. Thank you

Ooh those court lines would drive me nuts. I thought it was out lol.
Ed. Do you know if she uses any weight on her paddle?
More like this!
I noticed her elbow is straight most of the time. I assume that’s for consistency but does the backhand roll dink need to be elbow close for spin?
😮her grip is western? Or semi?
my favorite shot is slice, too
Mari good. Channel good.
Mari=awesome!

I find with slice dinks that it gets returned into the net a lot.
Your wrist wasn't moving as Mari claimed. Was clearly locked in the slo-mo replay.
can she send slice drop? it will be very interesting
Let’s goooo
Helloooo
Ben with a whippy forehand? Lol stiffest wrist in the game
Your wrist wasn’t moving 😳
