I have owned my Bad Axe for a few years and it is simply the best tenon/dovetail saw I have ever used. May be buying another for different purposes. Great video!

Great video - always love watching craftswo/men at work. My only OCD complaint was the lady when she set the set didn’t consistently turn that dial every time the same revolution 😂 I’m hoping she had an algorithm in her head and it was some specialized set pattern 😜
It is all by eye to set the teeth not the amount the crank turns.
I would love to go up and see their operation for myself. They're not terribly far from a few awesome breweries, too!

I was surprised by how small Bad Ace appears to be. Seeing as they are famous around the world I expected some large industry.
It is all in the one room.
A big expense for this Company has to be files.
Have you done a review of their saws? I went to the website immediately after watching this video. I love the care and quality that I saw in the video. I feel the price of the saw is on par with the expertise that I saw in the video. I am wondering how they hold up in repeated use.
In my book they are the foremost saw making. There are a couple boutique makers that are one person making one off saws that I would like more, but you pay through the nose for them.

I haven’t see enough reviews of this brand.looks like a startup trying to get into the market that is saturated already. From what I see, competing with the likes of Lie Neilson (an excellent saw) , the very pricey Cosman brand and the Veritas line, it will be uphill. Bad Axe is pricey at Lee Valley and there’s is very reasonably price. I don’t own a Veritas so I can’t say what their level of quality is. Your left hand tenon retails at Lee Valley for $499.00 🇨🇦 plus taxes. At Lee Valley a pair of rip and cc tenon saw sells for $309.00🇨🇦plus taxes. I guess it’s personal preference and if you have deep pockets.
Bad axe is actually one of the older traditional saw brands. They sell more high quality saws then any other company.
@@WoodByWrightmust be more to that setup than you video taped. Manual assembly and sharpening in that space can’t lead to a high volume. Who makes their blades and handles? As a private company they probably don’t publish sales numbers.
They're all made next door at a different company. But even Veritas and Lee Nelson make their tools very much the same way individually by hand.
@@WoodByWrightI believe BA startup was around1991 but curious that you mention the manufacture was next door by another company. As we talking subbing out the work or just a branch owned by BA? Just doing some research. I like the looks (not the price) of this line of saws but don’t know anyone to get on hands experience reviews. RUclips is not always to get that feedback.🇨🇦👨🦳👍
The company next door I wish I could remember their name is owned by the investor who is backing Bad Axe saws. The original owner sold the company to his employees and retired a few years ago. They didn't have the finances to buy all the equipment so got a loan from the company that does the metal work for them.
1:40 did i just watch a file being aggressively dragged backwards across a steel edge? Ouch. Also later on, they are running that drill bit way too fast. You can see the chips turning a dark blue. I hope they have a decent bit sharpener.
Yes back dragging the file can be very beneficial is different situations. This is 1095 Spring steel and that is a carbide bit.

This is the worst axe I've ever seen. The steel is way too thin. I bent mine on the first log I tried to split.
IMPRESSIVE SETTING MACHINE! BUT: working on turning machines, better don't wear your long hair open! Could skalp you.
