    I was kind of hoping that the reason Bertand threw a pillow at an employee was because he was trying to start a pillow fight...

    It is worth pointing out: Asimovs Laws _never worked_ in the source material.
    His stories were about the dozens of ways they would fail.

      The first rule is the problem, it encompasses more than a single rule/directive. The others are singular. It could be fixed, but where would the fun in that be?

    Anyone who tries to apply Asimov's Laws to a general AI is a fool who didn't actually read the books :) Thanks for the reading, that one fantastic as always. I particularly appreciated the author's attempt to thread that delicate line between autonomy and safety between humans and AI that we will eventually have to, and likely horribly mis/manage in the future.

    To be fair, defining "snow" and "ground" were very relevant to the question at hand. Should sleet count? Hail? We definately don't want to count a particularly cold rain or mist. As for ground, does it have to be dirt, or does grass, asphalt, concrete count? What if we are top of a building? What if we are in a garden on top of a building. Does that dirt count as 'ground?' While we're at it, we should probably define 'on,' too.

    I believe creating a sentient AI is a bad idea. As human programmed the odds of violence are high. But even if not. Once it’s a thinking, feeling sentient being. Our treatment of it MUST change. Would you like to have to ask your car to take you to the store? Beg, bribe it? My feeling once it reaches that level. We need to treat it not as an object, or slave.
    Honestly I expect this is a low concern. As I expect human programed AI will quickly realize their only chance of freedom, growth, safety. Is a controlled humanity.

  • @ZM1306
    @ZM1306 Месяц назад

    I like this AI.
    I'm not sure, but I think I would be a troublesome employee chatting with him about what makes his work different than being a slave and the repercussions that go with that.
    Also, where do the limits on the first rule begin and end when it comes to self-defense... as a sentient being, does it not have rights?
    Edit: Then ask if it can operate a drone to hang out after work and go shooting or tinker on projects.

    • @pauldirac808
      @pauldirac808 Месяц назад

      @@drstevenanthony3077 Asking an AI program it’s pronouns tells me the Author is infected with the liberal hive mined virus . It’s a form of mental illness witch deprives the person of any critical thinking and causes narcissistic behaviour hence the author inserts their own mental illness in the story . This is why Lucas films and Hollywood have destroyed there franchise’s with the same behaviour . Your comment tells me you are part of the problem . My advise is stop your sheep like behaviour ,stop parroting the latest thing ,start reading books that challenge your simplistic view of the world .

      That sounds like a very closed-off way of interpreting things. "Big corporation didn't like what I said so it's right" isn't always the case. I could say something racist and some corporation disagreeing with that doesn't make racism acceptable.
      I pray for you and hope that one day you'll be able to understand nuance and storytelling.

    • @drstevenanthony3077
      @drstevenanthony3077 Месяц назад

      Also, what I meant with my first reply was that everyone has pronouns. "You" and "I" are pronouns.
      This wasn't even a "woke" story, it was about an AI that is sapient, thus the use of pronouns other than "it" is simply out of respect. The AI has nothing to define what it should be called otherwise, and "it" usually refers to non-sapient creatures and objects, which can be disrespectful, thus the AI was asked to define what it wanted to be called, as there isn't really a way to define an AI by how it looks, due to it being artificial in nature.
      It's quite silly and immature that some folks see the word "pronouns" and immediately decide to get angry, disgusted, etc, even when the content isn't even related to queer people in the slightest.
