One of the best lines ever! “It's not having what you want, It's wanting what you've got”. That’s the secret of life. Thanks for a great tune, Ms. Crow!
Or having gratitude to what you've got ! Great line though !
Susan :)
Easy to say when you have millions.

Reminds me of summer 2003
Polyglot Pablo when I was born 😂✌🏻
Kdnxn Hdhdbfn Me too hahaha July the 24
Year 2002.
@Alex Foster the best year in my líder.
REMINDS ME OF SUMMERS 1968-???? AWESOME SHIT!!! ✌
I can't tell you the nostalgia I feel while listening to this song.. Being a kid, watching Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, going outside riding my bike all day, swimming in the pool, playing with toys. Man time flies...😢 Now I'm an adult with a house payment.😭😭
For real!!! 😂😂
@@KUqdah early 2000's Nostalgia hurts lol.
I know what you mean. I was 10 years old back in the summer of 2002 when this song was always on the radio, and I'd give anything to go back to that time when my life was so much more carefree!
I know like time is flying right now. I want the 2017s back when I was a kid listening to this overtimes I'm in the car I would just vibe to it. Now i'm a teenager and I just listened to this and it make me feel like a kid again 🥹🥹
😂😂😂💀💀💀💯
Soak Up the Sun came out when I was 13 years old. That year - 7th grade - I was bullied so horribly and relentlessly. But then one day I saw the video for the song on VH1, and somehow I started feeling better. It helped get me through the rest of that year, in particular the line, "Every time I feel lame, I'm looking up." To this day, I listen to it when I'm feeling down and it helps me get back into that positive mindset.
I was 17 going on 18 years old when that video was aired on VH1 I was in love with her in her 40s. I love Sheryl Crow since the mid 1990s & I love her feet when feet the beat tapping along the way including laying in the sand.
This song transports me to a different time. I see myself in the car with my mom, driving on the highway, tagging along with her on a sunny Saturday afternoon while she runs her errands. I remember the smell of her sunblock and perfume. I remember feeling relaxed and happy.
I might have just cried reading this. Yessss. All the feels
Ikr I was at new orleans beach when I heard this
Well said
Wow what a beautiful memory ♥️
I do that with my 11 year old daughter every Saturday and she's always asking if I have errands to run.
The early 2000s feel like a million years ago. I want to be little kid again.
Same
Big mood, this reminds me so much of when I was so little
Seriously, me too
Me to
They sucked. Trust me.
This song was played nonstop on the pop stations 2002-2004.
Good old time only I had no idea they where just that
I remember this on tv,
When they make it look like this it meant it was happy.
I think…
I think bad boys and shorts kinda look like this too now I think about it
The feeling and the vibes of this song and the days of not having a single thing to worry about.
One of the songs I play when I am down. Dealing with advanced cancer. But like the song states, “it’s wanting what you have”.
All my best in your fight

Thanks! They just found a “spot “ in my lungs. To early to know if it is the cancer. Just I am going to soak up the sun!😀😀😀

I'd give anything to go back to the late nineties and early 2000's.
Hutch214 I feel ya. Crazy thing was I used to hate these songs as a kid like lifehouse and a couple others and now I would give anything to go back to the late 90’s early 2000’s to relive my childhood. I wasted so much time and never took advantage of being a kid because I was so caught up in wanting to be an adult that I didn’t realize I was the happiest I have ever been at that age. Now I am to be married soon and the only thing I can do is have kids and let them take advantage of the time that I didn’t.
Why idk seems like not the best time to me

I often think of this song at some of the saddest times in my life. My uncle passed away recently. He was a very friendly, easy-going, laid back sort of guy. The world would be better off if people were more like him. Like Sheryl says, I'm gonna tell everyone to lighten up. Life is hard enough, and doesn't need anyone's help being harder. Take it easy.
take it easy indeed. we are all traveler's on life's suffering road. i lost my favorite uncle when he was only 42. we share more in common than we don't. be kind and let's soak up the sun

@@willp.8120weird question, do you perceive your twenties / the early 2000’s with the same sentiment as your 40s / the 2020’s?
@@brennickler When you are young you think an average lifespan is longer than it actually is.
It is just different.
@@brennickler I will be a little more specific.
In your 20s, it feels like you have a lot of time left to live, but honestly it is just a couple more decades left than your 40s. Twenty years passes fast and the idea that life is long is an illusion. However, when you are young because you haven't lived as long, you don't perceive how quickly fleeting time goes by, particularly before the age of 25.
In your 20s, despite life being short, relatively speaking, you do have more time to pursue your goals in life, whatever they may be. In your 40s, if you are hit with an injury and recover, but have lost your career in the process, it is harder to get someone to hire you or to start a new career.
In your 20s, your hormonal levels are very high, dopamine, testosterone, etc., and coupled with new experiences, life seems much more like an exciting experience. The feelings of love a man experiences and emotional bond to a woman during these days is very strong. By the time you are in your 30s, a man is less needy for constant affection. This loss of need for affection has to do with why young women see older men as more confident and less needy. This individualistic confidence and less need for affirmation is even more attractive to women as you get older, as long as you take care of yourself and aren't bald. That said, not being seen as attractive isn't an issue for me as I am happily married.
The 20s are really only the beginnings of wisdom into more deeper spiritual matters of the Christian faith. You also gain an understanding by the time you are 40 of just how corrupt and evil this current world is, including many of those in high positions. You better see how the media, governments, etc. are all controlled by the same evil forces and it is why despite us voting their agenda continues on.
Times were also better in the past. People were friendlier, more willing to help others, there wasn't as much blatant propaganda in the media, it was just much more subtle, not were insane far left ideological viewpoints anything more than a fringe that wasn't taken seriously by many. Television and movies were better. They focused on more plot, were more original in their story lines, and they weren't trying to push any kind of social agenda. The quality of the music was more real using actual musical instruments instead of synthesizers.
Overall, it is a combination of differences between age and the changes in the world that have taken place.
Mad respect to anyone who is still listening to this masterpiece.

this was my twin brother's fav song when we were little - i lost him to brain cancer when we were 18 and this is the song we played at his funeral. it was beautiful and everyone sang along - it's been hard to hear it since but i allowed myself today. lots of crying but i really do love this song and i forget how much i need it!
Sorry for your loss

Also damn what a great person you brother was to want people so stay happy at his funeral! :D
Oh my goodness. I didn't even know your brother, but now I'm crying... then laughing at myself because I'm an emotional sap, but also crying for how simultaneously sad and beautiful it is that this song was played at his funeral. I love this song and I love what you shared. Thank you for doing so. Sorry for your loss. He sounded like a beautiful soul since this was his favorite song. 😊

This song will never get old. 🔥
I think this song means . This song is essentially about not taking life too seriously and enjoying the simple things . It's urging people to appreciate the present moment and embrace a carefree and adventurous lifestyle . The lyrics touch the idea that happiness doesn't from material possessions , but rather from being content with what you have . The singer expresses a sense of freedom and independence , despite not having luxuries like a fancy car expensive gadgets . The overall message is focus on the positive and not dwell on the negative feeling or external expectations . The song encourages a light-hearted attitude and gratitude for the little things in life . Soak Up The Sun

Man it’s crazy how old this song was , when I was a little girl me and my friend Angie , used to always listen to this song on her pink radio in her room . She loved this song . I got addicted to it when I was younger . And a couple of months ago I just started to sing it randomly . Kept saying “I’m gonna soak up the sun, I’m gonna tell everyone to lighten up” that’s all I could remember and I started remember so old memories of me and my childhood best friend just laying in her bed our feet in the air laughing just smiling singing this song . It’s always put me in a good mood . So I downloaded it when I finally found who sung it . She’s so pretty I love her voice , I think today was my first time seeing the music video . Wow 10 years ago, I’ve always wanted to travel to find my long lost childhood best friend Angie . So Angie if you see this , it’s me Mariah . Remember we used to live in Las Vegas together?😭❤️🙏🏾

SHeryl seems to be a wonderful person inside and out.
