  • I use the same PWM with 555 timer for this experiment. The goal- to prove that- we no need transformer with core for making florescent lamps to work. It means: PWM circuit make square impulses from 1% to 100%(DC). Transformer core is magnetic material. Magnetic materials working the best with sine wave. If we have square impulses than we don't need core at all. My setup working with 2,5 kHz frequency. Transformer for this experiment is winded 1 layer- 1/2 of primary (900 winding's), 2 layer- (in the middle) secondary (60 wingdings), third another 1/2 of primary (900 winding's). 1 and 3 layers are winding with 0.1 mm, 2 layer with 0.9 mm of enameled wire. P.S. Every one who remember Steven Mark knows- his apparatus working without cores. Thank, you!

Hi! Rectifier is only at 230V-12V rectification. The main shematic is taken from here: LED Dimmer Circuit (Use Google). Only difference is- remove 1K resistor/ replace ir with 22 or 33 Ohms resistor and use IRF840 or similar(G/D Voltage must be about 200V). I use IRF540, but G/D voltage is only 100V and it is very close to the "blow up" :-). You must to control it! Between Drain and +Vcc I use transformer (without core).

Next part. The trick is: Secondary windings are between two Primaries(separate by two sections). It means the EM fields are coming thru "space" not thru core. If You know about Rodin coil- it is. Core working only with AC- Amplitude Current (in transformers with sinusoidal forms of current 50, 60, 400Hz). If we take impulses- this is another "story". There it is necessary. Existing "delay" in every core! In ferromagnetic cores it is less (higher frequency compatible), but it remains.

Always when we speak about impulses we must understand- typical coil of impulses is Tesla Coil! There is no core at all. :-) All Rodin, e.c.t. "coils" are taken from Tesla work. That `s all. My experiment was only to proove- we no need the core if we work with short impulses!

Sorry- please read: "There it is no necessary". I am sorry for mistake :-)
