@@edwardgrijalba744 Saint Germain was an eccentric philosopher and adventurer from 18th century France. His true background, such as his birthday, country of origin, etc., are unknown, and whenever he was asked about those things he would make all sorts of outlandish claims statements, like being 500 years old. He would use a different name and title wherever he went, never taking the same alias twice; the name "Saint Germain" is one of these aliases, and just happened to be the one that stuck. All this is quite similar to Drifter and his many aliases, meaning Saint Germain could have been an inspiration for Drifter's character.
2:30 his reaction always gets me…the drifter is aware that almost everyone, including his own ghost, don’t trust him or like being around him…that simple thank you meant a lot to him
I feel like Drifter really likes Eido. Like, genuinely almost father-like. He sees how young and unprepared for the harsh realities of such a dangerous world she is. It looks like it brings out a soft side to him.
For us Drifter’s that older brother who gets into all sorts of things, but always has something for us including things to teach. And in places like this, he’s practically a brother for everyone.
Suspicion confirmed, Eido wasn't angry about Misraaks for his past but rather his refusal to tell her. It's also good to see Eido get her head on somewhat straight, seeing through Eramis' bullshit, many in the community I've witnessed were briefly worried she may betray House Light, so those last lines from her have set my nerves at ease-for now. It was also interesting to see Drifter give a... pep talk, I suppose being almost vulnerable like. Hopefully Eido and Misraaks will repair their relationship, because as the old saying goes: a house divided against itself cannot stand.
@@carsenmaxwell3336 Probably, though I don't see Eido doing something like joining her. She may be only a young scribe, I don't think considered even a full adult in Eliksni society, but she knows where her loyalty should lie and isn't stupid. She is naive, but not stupid, she's probably one of the smartest mortal characters in the whole franchise, so it won't take very long for her to see the clear manipulations of Eramis-or atleast gods I hope it doesn't.
Drifter will always be my favorite character in D2. Many people see him as an outsider asshole, always looking out for himself. I see him as someone colored by experience and unafraid to say what needs to be said, even if it's unpopular.
I used to think the same about him for a long while, but I've warmed up to him over time. He ain't so bad, this season has certainly helped reinforce such a claim.
@@Kazuhira2249 I'm not sure but I don't think we're ever gonna help him since he's supposed to be punished for leaving the prison and getting cayde-6 killed. We only gave him temporary freedom to help with the situation on Europa.
I think Drifter's been around long enough to recognize that Eido's at a point in her life where anyone of significant charisma and conviction could reasonably convince her to pursue a goal. Or, failing that, that she'd simply go the way of Drifter himself, or of Variks, becoming someone in it solely for themselves and their goals, with no true loyalty to one cause or another. And while I don't think Drifter regrets his time as an unaffiliated... well, drifter, it's not a life he'd wish on someone like Eido, not a life he thinks she'd survive. So he gently coaxes her in the right direction.
Drifter is a great character, he's a rat that has fought to survive, he's seen the worse and the best that the universe has offer, that's why he's understanding and rough, but also untrustworthy, he's seen what some people would do if their life is on the line
I like that Eido is one of those characters who is hurt that she was lied to...but doesn't make it all about her. She still cares about what others think, continues to do her duty, and doesn't dwell on it to the detriment of others around her like many written characters these days.
I am glad eido isn’t mad about what misraaks did in the past she more mad that she’s still being treated like a child which I think some folks can relate parents still sometimes still see the child they raised and still want to protect them but at some point they have to let them go on their own and let them forge their path
Honestly, the "reveal" about who Misraaks used to be didn't really surprise me. He straight up told Shaxx in a prior lore entry that he used to do some depraved shit. If anything, the reveal we got was super watered down compared to the fact that Misraaks is presently somewhat-knowingly harboring Namrask, formerly known as Akileuks the Smokesword, who led in some of the early stages of Eliksni aggression, such as the burning of London, and who is largely responsible for the Eliksni culture outside the House of Light. Things like docking, ether rationing, their eating of human prisoners and their tendency for brutality in general can be traced back to lessons Akileuks taught them during the long journey from Riis to Sol. And now he goes by Namrask, the Empty Weaver. A large, Kell-sized Eliksni refugee who insists that all they do is weave and sell fabrics. Personally, I'm waiting for a season where the Vanguard starts scrutinizing their Eliksni refugees and realizes a lot of them are known former enemies that seemingly disappeared.
@@perrycarters3113 About the last part: not gonna happen. In the first (or second) lore book page this season, Ikora and Zavala talk to each other and one of them says that they can't just hand over Spider to Mara, because it would upset some of the House Light members, who had some shady past. On the other hand, they worry that if Spider will recreate his web of crime in the Last City, will upset the people who hate Eliksnii in general. They barely get over the events of Splicer, and now that they start to accept the situation, Spider's corruption would just give them more arguments against Eliksni.
At this point all I see is Mithrax as the over protective father, Eido as the daughter who wants to prove herself to her father that she’s capable of doing great things by herself and Drifter as the cool uncle who is supportive of the daughter and is willing to give her advice and the chance to try new things
It's less a real name and more a name he went by for a long time as far as we know his former names are Wu Ming, Germaine, Eli, dregen hope and finally the drifter
